Im surprised that A) We didnt get a West Coast perspective mission like the San Francisco one in Homefront and B) The Russians didnt try solely invading from the West Coast, I doubt they wouldve been able to take Europe in such a short amount of time that the Russians would have complete stable access to France and the Iberian Peninsula in order to plan and successfully mount any kinda of naval invasion from the Atlantic. In the 2007 RTS game World in Conflict, its story is surprisingly realistic and plausible, and part of the story in that game to where the entire American force is pre-occupied dealing with the invasion of western Europe and that gives the Soviets enough time to invade the unguarded West Coast and take Seattle (Among other cities but theres only a mission for Seattle I believe) within a day.

The whole running theme of the campaign is Makarov's message in the trailer of "spilling blood in other countries but not your own" etc etc. We see the west coast in war games all the time but never suburban northeast and seeing that worked as intended, it made for some of the most memorable missions in cod that, as we're watching, people still are in awe over.

All of Prince George's County, in MD; northern VA cities like Alexandria and Arlington. Basically the entire DMV (what we locals refer to as DC/MD/Northern VA) are sitting ducks. Overwhelming numbers of Russian forces can be seen parachuting down into neighborhoods while a BTR is rolling down a residential street. Homes become literal battlegrounds. Man, I miss the Old CoD. Fighting Russians in the streets of DC sounds balls to the walls awesome. Who cares whether that's realistic or not. These missions are so well designed that no one truly cares in the moment. Nowadays CoD is tryharding to be Sicario, while lacking the gravitas and direction of that movie. Sicario feels realistic and raw, Call of Duty is an arcade shooter with Nicky Minaj as a multiplayer skin.

What I love about this mission is that it’s basically all based off of Red Dawn, The red Russian camouflage, the fact this mission is literally called “Wolverines”, it’s amazing.

What I love about this mission is that it’s basically all based off of Red Dawn, The red Russian camouflage, the fact this mission is literally called “Wolverines”, it’s amazing.

What made this immersion breaking is the Russians not using their own weapons. Only thing they are using the ak47 while at the same time lots of p90s, fn fals and tavors which is ridiculous. Russians should be not just using the Ak47 but also the Ak74, ak108, aek971, an94, ak12, groza and various other russian weapons.
