This is probably the most memorable COD mission of any COD game. You literally felt the fear and tension in fighting for your life in the heart of the nation
I remember playing this when I was young, I didn’t really pay attention to the plot, just running around killing the enemy. Now that I’ve grown up, I’m watching this and it’s really sad and depressing. This mission carries a lot of weight and infinity ward really made a masterpiece with this mission.

It’s an important detail that I think is an attempt to motivate the player into neutralizing all in-game threats so that no friendlies are lost in the mission anymore
The details of the first mission is outstanding. The atmosphere,the battle,the soundtrack are all great. The only thing wrong about that mission was it was short. I just wish we could use m4 with acog sight/m203 more in here.
I don't know if they included it or not with remastered, but the original MW2 had cut dialogue from the Washington Monument evac site in which the radio operator got more and more desperate as their situation worsened (if you didn't provide support in time). It gets pretty chilling, which is probably why they cut it from the original.

I never understood Russia managed to field such a huge army on American soil and threaten the capital directly.That's some blitzkrieg shit right there.
My thing is how did they get pass the navy and airforce so quickly and I understand that the Russians use lightning tactics, but goddamm......also I'm curious how many casualties there were.
JimOriginal all in the games. Realistically the Russian Navy would have been entirely destroyed before leaving Europe. It would have had to pass by several NATO countries which field navies capable of crippling or annihilating Russia’s Atlantic Squadron. Even if they survived they would only have the capacity to transport about 50,000 troops after a several week round trip. Those 50,000 men would never be able to establish a beachhead and last until reinforcements arrive. All this is also assuming the US does nothing but considering the largest naval base in the world is in Virginia Russia would not come close to US soil
It’s still unrealistic now, not WW3 though, just an attack on US soil, specifically Washington It would be extremely difficult for an enemy combatant to get on US soil with an army that massive
It did happen in 1814 when Canada burned down Waahington and gave the White House its name... And the Confederates in 1862 nearly manage to do the same in Gettysburg (Pennsylvania)...
One of the best missions in CoD history. Not because of any crazy gameplay gimmick or revolutionary design change, but because it is brutal, tragic, and absolutely terrifying. It may not be realistic but it is haunting.

I still love MW2 Rangers, but they weren’t shown doing anything close to what most US soldiers would do if the US was invaded and civilians were targeted. I kinda liked seeing in WAW the reality that a lot of potential POWs get executed when they surrender in wars where civilians are purposely targeted. There’s no reason to spare a hostile soldier when he didn’t spare the defenseless family down the road, and I would’ve liked seeing that here or in MW3 at least

I was kind of hoping hoping that they would give the SEALs their own unique models for this remaster. They still share the same randomly generated models of the Rangers in their UCP uniforms.
I guesa they used the same Game Codes to genwrate models albeit they're better this time. The thing is, the same game code means they can't just add new mods without finding the respective scripts and adding new ones.
These few missions where america was invaded and you just played the normal army fighting back another army were the best missions cod has ever done by a mile. I really wish cod just had a really nice gritty war focus no magical spec ops teams who destroy a million enemies with 4 guys just give me a cod campaign full of missions like this

Big difference between a group defending or attacking certain parts of the country under high command and a team off the grid most times in different countries going behind the lines to take out specific targets or on espionage assignments. Then again why am I explaining obvious military differences to someone who likes his own comment (A sign of a 10 year old who needs validation in anything he ever says)

With the way MW 2022 is going, we can expect they redone this in the new timeline. Maybe not a full blown war but something like Russian incursion in Alaska as a revenge for something the US was blamed for which it did not do. The post credit scene in MWII confirmed Makarov as the next villain so this even more likely
Probably my favorite section of the campaign, didn’t appreciate them as a 9 year old but now as a 22 year old I think they’re what made the game special. Took Activision a lot of balls to put that into the game, which is why the scaled it back in mw3.
The flare sequence at the end is a reference to the climax of the movie The Rock in that the protagonist must launch a flare to abort an incoming air strike.

Harry Proctor that is the official meaning of “broken arrow,” but in pop culture it seems to have evolved into a distress call to scramble all available air assets for a unit about to be overrun, and I have no idea where that came from
4:35 In the original MW2 that line was never subtitled but and you can still hear it in the original just not that loud. What surprises me the most is the additional animations which greatly adds detail and pieces of dialogue that we may have heard before in the original MW2
Still my favorite mission in cod history. The atmosphere, music, and everything is just perfect. From waking up in the shelter of wounded, right up to the Washington square radio operator freaking out for help as you try and down as many helicopters and tanks that you can. Amazing mission

I think the reason why the battle in Civil War wasn’t on the same scale as this was because the entire battle only lasted one night, opposed to this battle which would’ve been like this for days. Hell, it wasn’t much of a battle in Civil war, just a straight up invasion. You had an army of people who hated their government against a few fight or die soldiers and some secret service.

Like two opposing forces ready to die for what they believe. It didn’t feel like that in the film, it just felt like one small faction against the entire country

This level, more than any other one, made this game for me. I remember the awe when you run up the ramp and find out that it's the capital being shot to sh.t. I still, years later have to have my mind right to play COD:MW II because the feel of the levels and the story just hard hitting and realistic. Who ever wrote for this needed to be awarded. I was really impacted by this game. It's kinda the "Empire Strikes Back" of the trilogy for me...lol (arguably of course).
I cant describe my feeling very first time I played this level I was so blown away by the cinematography, effects, music, etc, it was so awesome. I miss COD when it was truly at its peak of popularity.
I got chills down my spine to see the new details they added to the bunker scene at the beginning of the mission. New models that have them covered in blood with their faces wincing in pain. Casualties grunting, screaming and coughing in their own blood. Hearing the medics asking for assistance and reassuring their patients just wrenches your gut. Also, they added more detail to the Washington Monument, with debris and dust crumbling off which hits you.much harder than before. I'd say this is a much better remaster than the previous first Remastered Modern Warfare.

MW2 and the beginning of MW3 do a great job of turning America into a warzone. Fighting in Germany and Russia and the Middle East is always so boring, but getting to see places you know and possibly live in is not only fun to fight in, but it feels like you could relate to whatever the characters are feeling. Make more war games in America
2:06 Small detail I never noticed in my several campaign playthroughs, you can see the SEALs Overlord was informing you about ziplining into the building on the top right corner.
Second sun and whiskey hotel in my opinion are the best levels idk why I guess I find some about being a ranger in a battlefield with an entire battalion is just awsome idk how else to explain it, it just feels more legitimate

Played this mission as a kid for several years ago, I have no any sense about it. But today, watching this walk through give me the feeling how intense and depress it is.
It got recommended again before the inauguration. Kind of scary to think something this massive will happen with 25k troops there rn compared to this mission with far less than that
I like how they added alot of radio comms related to the DC area in the background compared to the normal background chatter that was originally in MW2. Living here this really hits deep with the new comms hearing local places I know being overtaken. Great game. Don't get on me about the military accuracy the rest was great. Cpl. Dunn yelling "EMP!" Will always send chills down my spine
I love the remaster. I wish they would have updated the US Army camouflage from UCP to multicam though. The campaign takes place in 2015 and multicam would have been in circulation by then, but then again the game was developed in 08-09 so its fine.

When I first played this mission the music dropped as soon as I turned and saw the Washington monument. I was in complete awe. Then something randomly exploded near me as the second music drop happened and I felt the intensity. Best COD ever.

My job is a gunner for one of those vics and I just tried to imagine being in that gunners position with such a high responsibility providing covering fire in the front lines knowing I could get blown up at any moment. Probably my favorite section of the campaign, didn’t appreciate them as a 9 year old but now as a 22 year old I think they’re what made the game special. Took Activision a lot of balls to put that into the game, which is why the scaled it back in mw3.

Still my favorite mission in cod history. The atmosphere, music, and everything is just perfect. From waking up in the shelter of wounded, right up to the Washington square radio operator freaking out for help as you try and down as many helicopters and tanks that you can. Amazing mission
God, this mission was so sad. I was felt bad for the injured soldiers, even if they're just in a video game.
I’m not an anti american or anything like that but imagine if they made a game like this but you’re an Iraqi soldier or something, imagine how terrified they must have felt knowing the american war machine was gonna get them

I think the reason why the battle in Civil War wasn’t on the same scale as this was because the entire battle only lasted one night, opposed to this battle which would’ve been like this for days. Hell, it wasn’t much of a battle in Civil war, just a straight up invasion. You had an army of people who hated their government against a few fight or die soldiers and some secret service.

Like two opposing forces ready to die for what they believe. It didn’t feel like that in the film, it just felt like one small faction against the entire country

This level, more than any other one, made this game for me. I remember the awe when you run up the ramp and find out that it's the capital being shot to sh.t. I still, years later have to have my mind right to play COD:MW II because the feel of the levels and the story just hard hitting and realistic. Who ever wrote for this needed to be awarded. I was really impacted by this game. It's kinda the "Empire Strikes Back" of the trilogy for me...lol (arguably of course).
I cant describe my feeling very first time I played this level I was so blown away by the cinematography, effects, music, etc, it was so awesome. I miss COD when it was truly at its peak of popularity.
I got chills down my spine to see the new details they added to the bunker scene at the beginning of the mission. New models that have them covered in blood with their faces wincing in pain. Casualties grunting, screaming and coughing in their own blood. Hearing the medics asking for assistance and reassuring their patients just wrenches your gut.
Also, they added more detail to the Washington Monument, with debris and dust crumbling off which hits you.much harder than before.
I'd say this is a much better remaster than the previous first Remastered Modern Warfare.
Now when I hear Sgt Foley all I can hear is the president on Rick and Morty

MW2 and the beginning of MW3 do a great job of turning America into a warzone. Fighting in Germany and Russia and the Middle East is always so boring, but getting to see places you know and possibly live in is not only fun to fight in, but it feels like you could relate to whatever the characters are feeling.

I like how they added alot of radio comms related to the DC area in the background compared to the normal background chatter that was originally in MW2. Living here this really hits deep with the new comms hearing local places I know being overtaken. Great game. Don't get on me about the military accuracy the rest was great.

I love the remaster. I wish they would have updated the US Army camouflage from UCP to multicam though. The campaign takes place in 2015 and multicam would have been in circulation by then, but then again the game was developed in 08-09 so its fine.

When I first played this mission the music dropped as soon as I turned and saw the Washington monument. I was in complete awe. Then something randomly exploded near me as the second music drop happened and I felt the intensity. Best COD ever.
This mission is fucking masterpiece, everything is perfect for example atmosphere, radio transmission, development, weapons etc........ and also the remastered version is simply amazing. I love this mission together with no russian and wolverines.
