    I've used a lot of scopes and the S&B 5-25x56 with Locking MTC turrets and H59 reticle is superb. It just works every time. The optics are sublime. Now the S&B 5-45x56 with Tremor3 reticle and double turn locking turrets looks to be the new king. I'll see if the parallax knob is a rangefinder like the 5-25x56. As others have said, the S&B gives you options.
    The only scopes I now own are S&B and March. To my eyes, the S&B glass is amongst the best available at any price. I really liked the March, but the S&B is like a high end German car. If you like them, you'll love them forever. They just feel right. If it comes down to cost, the prices of everything have become ridiculous. the S&B is a buy once cry once option. But your own eyes will tell you what you like and your preference on feel will probably be the ultimate decider.
    I have never been let down in a match by my S&Bs and the lack of a lifetime warranty is irrelevant to me. I don't want to have to use the warranty ever, so please give me a scope that will not fail.
    Sorry if this comes across as shilling for S&B, but I buy with my own money what suits my needs and I had the good fortune to be able to use most brands on the market over a short period of time. I have 7 S&B's (5 x 5-25x56's) and 2 x March. I sold everything else. The S&B's just work.
    Good on the other brands for offering choice and providing competition.

    They never mentioned if the turrets track correctly, even once? Ya know, the box test for the turrets. All they kept talking about was how clear the glass was. Glass clarity is not on the top of my list bc tracking of turrets matters way more. Repeatability of a shot and different distances, i.e. having turrets that actually measure what they say on them in Mils, is much more important than clarity of glass. Positive identification is done through much bigger glass, like a spotting scope, not the scope that you shoot with on the rifle.

    I have a few variations of Tangents and ZCOs to compare to the Gen III when it arrives tomorrow. The beauty is I will be able to test every environment within a few days from 0-2500 yds. I expected it to big a massive jump in glass quality from the Gen II simply because the length of time from 2014 to now. I highly doubt it will cut mirage as well as the two top dogs. Fit and finish will also be less than those two, but the Gen III is also street priced at 3k.

    One thing I like about S&B (that I run) is that I can choose precisely the reticle I need for my purposes. I hope vortex looks into that as well. That said, their reticles can do most of it fairly well.

    • @Kyle899
      @Kyle899 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m a nightforce junkie, but recently looked through the Kahles DLR and was impressed. Where does the Vortex Gen 3 fit when compared with the Kahles, and Nightforce Atacr?

    • @5RWill
      @5RWill 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Having had a Kahles K525i, the 5-25 ATACR, and now my Gen III. Gen III is considerably better in DOF, FOV, CA control, I think edge to edge clarity I might give the Kahles I haven't seen mine in a while. Gen III is also a good bit better than the 5-25 ATACR optically having owned it as well. I can't speak for the 7-35. I had my ZP5 to compare it to which is in the realm of TT, ZCO, and Schmidt Glass quality and honestly the Gen III matches it in almost every category except I thought the contrast was better on the Gen III which was shocking. Edge to edge clarity went to the ZP5 also. Gen III has a little distortion at the edge of the image. Though it isn't enough to affect function. Turrets are likely the biggest complaint of mine. I'm not wild about them. They're worse than my brothers Gen II Razor, worst than my AMG, Kahles, NF, etc. I'm not a fan thus far. Some people love theirs, maybe it's sample variance. Not a fan of mine.

      Spot on with this comment. I have several of the optics that they compared. I promise the Tangent and ZCO will outperform in the “tough” optical situations compared to the Gen III. However from what I have heard (not seen yet) is it is a massive improvement and I believe it is probably on par with a NF 7-35 ATACR with a better set of features.

      @@Ravenrifle I’ll be interested in your assessment. While the 7-35 has better glass than the 5-25 ATACR, I’ve felt that the ATACR lineup was only slightly better than the AMG/Gen II glass, at least with my examples. There are tools, but at the end of the day we don't have anything that perfectly recreates an eye. It's incredible how complex the eye is, so the general "how good is it" has a lot of subjective. How is it marketing when they had to pay for them? Granted it's probably a little better than mil/Le pricing but it still cost money. The razor line is good and vortex took a long time to make the gen 2 and then almost just as long for the gen 3. They put the work into this line and it always shows. People who crap on Vortex are either closed minded snobs who will never own one anyways or have never used one and don't have plans to.
