One thing you guys forgot to mention that is useful in particular for Binding, Radiance, and Strength Engrave is that they are very strong to use on Engrave attacks (Astra Storm, Lodestar Rush, Override, Twin Strike, etc.) They give no Hit but since Engage attacks automatically hit they are basically just free damage.
True, engage attacks benefit a lot from those engravings

I gave Radiance to my dire thunder user Thunder Tome +5 with more mt did wonders.
Dire thunder basically has alacrity built in you can hit twice before your opponent so its just free dmg
Downside is weight your mage is gonna be 0 in speed but they often aren't on front lines and in alot of cases are gonna get doubled anyway
I really like the Engraving system in Engage. With a few tweaks I think it could be the standard for forging systems in future games.
Tone down their power, have like 30 of them, and that’s all the forging I need in a game. Give them as rewards for side objectives in maps and you now have strong anti-turtling incentives. Heck, you could have 5 you get from the main story combine to make the Fire Emblem.
There are two specific use cases I've come across for the Veronica engraving. One is using it on a Surge/Elsurge, since they're already guaranteed to hit. Second is pairing it with a high-luck divine pulse(+) to, again, circumvent the hit penalty. The -20 crit is a major downside in both cases, though
Idk if this has been mentioned, but I do think both Roy and Ike are pretty good engravings if you have the Olwen ring. If you forge thunder with either engraving it essentially gives you a tome that consistently doubles from 3 spaces, and forging the thunder tome is not all that expensive either, not to mention you can do this as early as you get Roy, just give Olwen to Citrinne, engrave her thunder tome and start blasting. The engravings are not very versatile, but the few things they can do, they do really well.
Only issue is where's the hit?????

Hector's engrave seems weirdly designed to work with his emblem specifically, Hector when engaged gives you enough defence to deal with all the downsides and use both the might and his Heavy Attack turning the weight into power. I'm not quite sure it's D tier since Hector always exists when the engraving does, even though Hector's heavily limited by maddening AI rules.
Roy and Ike have a niche with his kit too.

Since you mention wanting to play with the Peshkatz for crit shenanigans, maybe you could try out thief/wolf Panette? With an emblem like Roy to patch up her strength and the larger Mt of forged daggers she can compete with her Warrior version in terms of damage output
I use Camilla engraving on a Dragon Veyle with Soren, holdout+. Does not need to dodge when you do 3x damage and recover full HP
Good video, I agree with most placements.
I like Byleth engraving more than Corrin/Camilla since it adds hitrate (I like to put it on Thoron for Ivy), you got Lyn and Eirika for you accurate crit builds. Corrin/Camilla are only usable on units that are already accurate, limiting their use.
I actually can get away with one dodge -20 engraving in the D tier and put it on Représailles as it has +20% dodge and will cancel each other out.
It's already pretty accurate for a unit like Chloé. I use Soren though, because Tiki adds -20 avo, while Soren is -10 avo. You could look at it as "do you want to put Lance Power 1 on Représailles to sac 10 avo for +2 dmg" and I welcome the free dmg for a very small downside.
But ultimately I agree they stay in D, as putting it on any other weapon without innate crit dodge just increases the risk of enemy critting you for no reason.

My favorite use for Eirika’s engraving is putting it on a Killer Bow.
With Hector Shenanigans I think Roy is pretty useful it raises weight just enough to procc Heavy but not so much is slows a unit like Diamant down to be useless.
For the Veronica engrave, there are some use cases.
1) units that use Byleth or that inherit Divine Pulse+ and have extremely high luck (Alear!Byleth, Anna on griffin knight with luck boosting makes her have insane hit rates that she can eat the -20 hit anyways, and it damage boosts / weight fixes Levin sword).
2) any support unit needing avoid and other engrave are taken for the avoid +20.

Oh I remember doing Liberation+5 Marth too. It was okay, it was functional, I almost never needed it bc haha funni Tiki emblem go brr, but it was there.
I also used Eirika engrave on my Ike Timerra's Killer Lance because she did not care if she got crit (nor do i remember her getting crit that much anyway...). Like she would have 3 incoming damage, oh noo.
Then for Alear, I just slapped it on Veyle's magic dagger and she went to wreck stuff together with Alear while being virtually untouchable. Then came Soren and she became invincible instead.
I tend to give the Celica engraving to a fire tome and upgrade that to bolganone and give it to Ivy. Granted it is a niche case where this was help avoid any chances of crit since her luck is bad. Similar to a wind tome Raisins mentioned (which I would imagine be upgraded to a Excalibur tome). The -1 weight basically gets Ivy closer to not being weighed down as much and you can still give her speed and magic tonics if need be, especially with Lyn as her emblem. I find it to be incredibly effective when doing the Ike paralogue since she's a reliable counter to Ike.

Camilla is high risk high reward its pretty good but you wanna make sure whoever has it either has a stupid amount of luck to avoid being crit or has the ability to survive crits
just run it on a backline unit
@MasterStacona I also think it could work on avoid tanks granted only up to a certain chapter then that avoid penalty starts to feel painful.

At best you put it on a real tank like louis and madeline since they dont avoid and take no damage if you want it on a frontliner.
@MasterStacona hence why I said up to a certain chapter, you don't need that much avoid when on tiles its mostly ao the avoid tank can do damage for a little bit like thieves. Didn't mean it makes them dodge better.
Sorry to double post but you could give the Veronica engrave to a Elsurge since the hit penalty does not effect it. Elsurge has infinite accuracy.
I found the Veronica engrave worked well on Elsurge, because who cares if you lose 20 hit from infinity hit right
Also the +mt +wt engraves are good on dire thunder/brave weapons where your plan is to not take a counter at all, which pairs well with canto

Elsurge Veronica engraving can be quite good for Celine’s low build. Still infinite hit, +avoid and damage, - build, really good combo. Even if you don’t need the - weight, it’s still nice to boost damage and avoid for free.
I really think about a few things very differently which is kinda interessting.
First of I think of Veronica Engrave as a pretty solid Mid-Tier. Because it just has great synergy with bonus which increase Avo but therefore cost you Crit (like Marth Bonus Stats) - and you can get this on a pretty Heavy Weapon, still get a damage boost, and can make a sword yielder an incredible reliable Dodge Tank. And -20 Hit is nothing really that matters on a Sword yielder anyway.
But yeah it still is obviously very niche and thus just mid tier and nothing to slam on anything. It also works pretty good with Sigurd if you have a Lance User, that's good with DEX.
Second, why is Lyn Engraving First Place and put so much higher than Lucina? It's kinda similar, but gives 30 Avo instead of 20 Crit which I always prefer, and takes way less Might. I would say Lyn is just a Mid Tier Engrave and Lucina is like a low A-Tier.
Third: Soren might be not good, but it's just a to go slam for any type of Long Ranged Weapons, like Long Bows, Thunder etc. - it's never useless and tho it is of specific use, it's still a go to slam on everytime. For me it is in my personal C Tier just a little above Tiki for obv. reasons.
the B tier is a good place for Defensive engraves, yeah the Tiki emblem is extremely dangerous to give to unit
I gave my Paladin!Panette+Roy a forged Brave Axe with the Ike engrave lol. It was like having an emblem attack every turn with her lol. Coupled with Calvary Bonded Shield and Hold Out+++ she became a damage sponge that was able to deal some crazy chip
Veronica hit penalty is barely felt on Anna I got in the 90s against thieves with Anna so far on Levin so it's not that bad.

Hello there i started fire emblem engage for my first time 2 weeks ago now im on chapter 16 on maddening and wached all of your tutorials. I have a question about donation. I also watched your donation vid but i still have a question.
I have all countries on level 2 except Brodia on level 3. So know im on chapter 16 with 27K gold and im not shure where to invest now. I did no emblem paralog yet. Should i go Brodia 4 for only 2 paralogs is it worth it or should i invest somewhere else? I also like to have some gold in my pocket for upgrades or buying something.
Generally you should rank 2 everything but rank 4 brodia immediately because it has the best scaling. Getting others to Rank 3/4 isn't as useful for getting ore
@@IcedCoffeeGaming Thx yea thats i know of your vids ;) But now im already in chapter 16 and wasnt have enough gold on maddening to make Brodia 4 before leaving Brodia so it it worth spending 25K gold after chapter 16 on it for 2 paralogs and a Brave sword? Or should i leave it on 3 now and spend someone else?
Some people say investing in Elusia is also good.
Im planning doing all paralogs and im afraid im running out of ingots or money while false investing :(

It seems this is not a known fact but you can get crited on even with a qi adept bonded shield. Crits are the only attacks that ignore chain guard and bonded shield. I know cuz it kept happening to my panett lol

S tier (This will really make your strategy work out.):
~Micaiah (Dedicated avoid tank)
~Lucina (Secondary avoid tank and hit fixer)
~Lyn (Front line hit fixer and crit giver)
~Eirika (Back line hit fixer and crit giver)
~Corrin (Crit build maker for anyone)
~Camilla (Backline crit build, a lot more offensive than Corrin)
A tier (Overall a really strong engrave that anyone wants):
~Marth
~Sigurd
~Alear
~Chrom
~Leif
~Byleth
~Three Houses
B tier (It works out really well if you know how to use it):
~Hector (Can use used on more weapons than what Ike can be used on)
~Ike (Hector ring strategy with Tomahawk/Spear or Silver Greataxe)
~Veronica (Elsurge's engrave)
~Tiki (Back line might giver)
~Soren (Back line might giver)
C tier (No one actually wants it / very niche):
~Celica (A bunch of dodge does nothing for you)
~Roy (A worse version of Ike for the scenarios you would use this on)
If you know how to use the engrave and what weapon to put it in, include DLC engraves:
S tier for everyone engrave.
F tier for Celica because it is garbage, dodge is a pretty useless stat and i think it has negative might on it.
Veronica's only use scenario is on elsurge and it is an S tier engrave on that, F tier on anything else because -20 hit means you will hit nothing on maddening.
Ike can be really good in two scenarios:
Silver Great Axe and especially during ike's ultimate to deal as much damage as possible.
Tomahawk or Spear with Hector on someone like Madeline (General Axe or Lance, Lance is better on her since she doesn't lack might and needs hit fixing) so that you get the +3 might from the engrave and always have +5 might from heavy attack and on hector she can double and double with a tomahawk/spear and one round everyone that fights her on enemy phase.
Roy's engrave is similar to Marth, but less extreme.
And then there are the engraves everyone wants because they are pure upside:
