    Nice tour/commentary! I bought a bamboo floor mat for my wet bath from Target for about half the price. Also bought a smaller one to put down in public showers at campgrounds (don't like showering in flip flops LOL).
    I purchased a 2021 NuCamp T@b 320-S (I'm spending my kids' inheritance 🤭). It has the same bed/dining options. I don't like the wall carpet aesthetics with Scamp or Casita, but like they say in the motorcycle community, "ride your own ride!" As long as we are out exploring this beautiful country, it's all good!
    PS. Mine is the Boondock edition, which comes with solar package already wired in. The 320S also has a cassette toilet, which was another selling point for me.

    • @TravelsandTravails
      @TravelsandTravails  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a nice set up! I’m curious why you like the cassette toilet better and what the capacity of the cassette is?

    • @jodybogdanovich4333
      @jodybogdanovich4333 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TravelsandTravails It's 5 gallons and has more options for emptying. Dealing with gray water tank and hose is enough for me LOL. And since it is so portable, if I ever need to dump it while my camp is still set up, I can just wheel it like a carry-on suitcase.
      Being only 5 gallons, I use it mainly for middle of the night. I usually use public or campground restrooms as much as possible.

    Do you regret buying the Independence at all vs another floor plan? Do you wish you had the bench seating instead? I like the long twin beds in the Independence, but the aisle is so narrow and when sitting you have to face each other at all times. Trying to decide between the Spirit Deluxe and the Independence Deluxe. I travel with a fishing buddy 50% of the time and my wife the other 50%. I am 6’2” so I prefer the longer beds.

    • @TravelsandTravails
      @TravelsandTravails  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don't regret getting the Independence, not even for a minute. We initially looked at the Freedom, because we liked the idea of having the full-time dinette, so I guess that's the advantage of the Spirit also. We decided to get the Independence so that we wouldn't be climbing over each other in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. With the Independence, we have a full-time bed, and a full-time dinette. It's a little squishy when we are eating, and we have to sit off-center from each other so we have a place to put our feet. I think the game-changer for us was when we put in the Lagun table. It made everything seem roomier. We often recline on the bed, especially since our TV is at the rear of the trailer, so we aren't facing each other all the time, only when eating. We have a video of the Spirit also: th-cam.com/video/OChP1mpm5Ws/w-d-xo.html I could see how the deal-breaker for you would be the bed though since you couldn't even stretch out your toes! I think the best thing you can do is go look at each model. Most Casita owners are really open to showing their trailers. Plus, they get a commission if you buy one: casitatraveltrailers.com/see-a-casita/

    Nice job, we are looking also at the independent. What do you think of the bathroom height, we checked a used Casita out one day and the headroom in the bathroom was not good at all, kept hitting my head on the ceiling. But overall really liked the Casita.

      Hi Rob, Doug is 5' 9" and I am 5' 8" and we have a mat on the floor that is about 1" tall. My head hits the ceiling in some areas of the bathroom. I usually shower while seated on the toilet and that works great for me. I've heard of taller people who own Casitas and somehow they make it work.

    • @TravelsandTravails
      @TravelsandTravails  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We live in a rural mouse-infested area. We've had mice in our cars, in the basement, I even had one in the umbrella over the patio table; but we've never had mice in the Casita. I imagine that they can get in though. One of the weak spots is where the power cable hooks in to shore power. Just last week when we were camping, we had a huge water bug (those ugly things that look like cockroaches) came in on the power cable. I opened the cabinet up and it shot out like a rocket. I screamed so loud that my husband thought the camper was on fire. So I think they can get in, it just has never happened to us.

If we buy a used one and the 4 cubic foot fridge goes kaput and we must replace with a new unit of the same size, is the door wide enough to fit a new 4 cubic foot fridge in thru the door? • @TravelsandTravails

      The one advantage the Casita has over the Scamp is that it has a full-time dinette and fully time bed. If you’re by yourself, and you eat outside, the Scamp is great because it’s lighter weight so more options for tow vehicles. We bought the Casita because we were tired of climbing over each other at night to go to the bathroom. If it wasn’t for that, we probably would have kept the Scamp. If you’re by yourself, like to eat outside (or in bed) and you already have a vehicle that will tow a Scamp, I’d get the Scamp. We sold our Scamp for more than we paid for it so you can always sell and buy a Casita later if the Scamp isn’t big enough.

      Thank you very much, we just got back from the store and the drawers are perfect. I am so happy with how it looks, and we still have room for our coffee pot (very important) hope to someday see you guys on the road.
