      I know right. My first decent guitar costed 600 with no case and the manager at the shop sold a lot of drum heads ect.. to my older brother. Plus they were friends so he actually knocked off 200 dollars from the asking price (which was 300 below the suggested retail lol) , hence no case. Again... A decent guitar. Black finish ect... That kind of money 30 years later will get you a great guitar. Amazing really.

    Darrell I really appreciate this series on affordable guitars. It’s awesome for beginner players and for folks like me that have been playing for 20 years. Being reminded that it isn’t always about the name brands and expensive stuff. While some of that is awesome and totally worth it....you can make rad music within your budget with decent quality stuff you can afford. That’s huge. I’m not ever gonna be famous. I can’t spend all my grocery money on high quality pro gear. So it’s great to watch these. Thank you so much. Your channel is rad.

    Well, she did just that. Being that I already have a Strat and Tele (Both Fenders, not a knock-off) a Les Paul style was missing. Wasn't with the coil splits as not really needed, but its a gorgeous Vintage Natural finish, zebra pups, and not all that bad out-of-the-box. Taking it to my luthier for a proper set-up, but first impression after spending an hour on it this morning is that its very well constructed, no blems, and the fret ends are actually nicely finished.

    Great review! I've owned a Xaviere Zimaitis copy for over 12 years now, and It's an awesome guitar! Still sounds and plays great, and amazingly stays in tune very well! NOW, it's not equal to my Gibby LP Special or any of my American PRS's, but then again.... I paid $169 for it!! I just bought another guitar from Guitar Fetish, but don't have it yet! I will also say that Guitar Fetish has great customer service as well! Bought some pickups from them as well, and couldn't be happier! Thanks for reviewing guitars the way you do, too many reviewers compare $200 guitars to $2000 guitars and then dirt the less expensive ones! VALUE is a king in my book! My Xaivere is so good, I can't bring myself to sell it, and when I put down my PRS Custom 24 Ten Top, and pick my $169 Xaviere, I am not confused which is a better guitar, BUT.....NOBODY EVER TELLS ME THEY NOTICED A BIG DROP OFF IN MY SOUND! • @alphanumeric1529
      @alphanumeric1529 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Yeah, let's hear the guitar in context. I live in the strat world, always wanted to pick up an LP. Even at this price, this would be expensive for me now. Let's hear this guitar, unprocessed, next to other LP's, or single cuts, whatever you want to call them, but some branded ones. Like an epi at the same price point, and an LP at 10x the price point. Record raw from your amp, no processing, no eq, no compression, no limiting, no thickening production techniques. Just raw sound of each. Rapidly AB... CD, in the middle of the same phrase, not A in the verse, then the B in the chorus, and other poor demonstration techniques (I might call them sales techniques). Just switch right in the middle of the line, back and forth, back and forth. Trust me, that is how recording engineers, and mix engineers actually and properly AB. You don't need 30 seconds of A and 30 seconds of B. The ear does not have that level of memory. Do a few seconds of A, 3-5 seconds, then right into B for 3-5 seconds. Don't switch even at the start of the note. Switch right in the same part of A into the same part of B. Peak match, not RMS, or not unequally loudness matched, but peak match each recording. You'll have some range, not every peak will match with every other peak, but, most peaks at the same level. Please give us a few raw .wavs of each run through on each guitar. Play to a click track or a backing track, but don't include it in the recording. No pedals, just amp. Same settings for each guitar.
      This is all stuff youtube demo channels do to manipulate user perception of what they are experiencing, and it pi55e5 me off, it is deception. Keep it straight. Let us hear for ourselves. We don't have the budget to do these tests, that's why we're watching you, mate. If you did this right, it'd be invaluable and I'd likely buy one of these on the spot if it sounded reasonably good, relative to the real things.
      Thanks if you do this, and someone, if you can, lemme know by replying to this comment if he actually follows through with a real demo of this guitar, I desperately would like to hear it, I just have a lot going on, and I'm losing my mind (really). It would help me greatly!

    Besides the fact that he has a cool radio voice, one of my favorite things about Darrell's videos is the playability demos. He could be like- 'look @ me ...look what I can do' & just start shredding or playing using his preferred techniques, style etc... yet he always plays a simple & DELIBERATE solo while demonstrating:
    Tonality, action, up/down bends, taps, hammer-ons, pull-offs, harmonics, slides, low/top end sustains, how the pickups cope with bass, treble, & different genres, etc.
    Thanks for the content & consideration man...Its appreciated!

    I checked their site every day for 5 months after this video, and finally snagged a green flame top in April. They were sold out of *everything* later that week. The guitar arrived and it was beautiful--better than Darrell's for fit & finish. Only criticism I have is the nut wasn't cut super-well (the low E was too high off the nut). Everything was pretty well set-up, but I went ahead and had mine PLEK'd and the nut replaced with an actual bone nut, and put some Grover locking tuners on. Yes, I spent more on the PLEK and upgrades than the guitar cost. But you know what? This now looks and plays like a $1500 guitar.

      @@reels8138 Oh heck yeah, these guitars are GREAT for beginners! Miles ahead what most of us "old guys" started with - it's an inexpensive guitar that you can actually keep long after you'd get rid of some junker you'd otherwise buy to learn on. I paid about $125 for my first "real" guitar ages ago, sold it off when I could afford a real Gibson SG and never looked back. If I'd had one of these nicer new inexpensive guitars my trusty SG would have probably found a different home! It is a little heavy for it's size but when I need to get over and cut through the rest of the band it does it with ease. I am using pure nickel blues strings 0.1 to 0.52 set. I bought a purple Floyd Rose version of this Xaviere Pro555 last week. The Floyd Rose gave me the dickens to tune, then I realized the bridge saddles were set on the bridge holes closest to the pickups. This resulted in all the strings tuning sharp. Once I moved them all back, the guitar intonates beautifully. Since I live in an apartment with paper-thin walls, I play the guitar through Ik Multimedia Amplitube 4 on my computer. So far, my favorite sound is the Joe Satriani Rockman 100 amp sim. The Brian May settings rule, too.

    Guitars like this prove that the bigger brands are simply overpriced.

    I bought my epiphone LP tribute plus. It was pretty loaded with Gibson's pups, switchcraft toggle, cts pots and Grover locking tuners. Also has full thickness maple cap. My nit-pick is multi piece mahogany body but they put a one piece mahogany veneer to cover it up. Looks and plays fantastic. Slapped a bone nut in it and ready to go.

    I bought a new Actual Gibson Les Paul last week for $2500 I love it, couldn't be happier. Im sure this Xavier is a nice guitar and Im glad kids can play something playable for $200. I have owned many of these knockoffs over the years but I need the original.

    Some time ago I bought a used Xaviere Les Paul Junior style guitar with double P90s. They don't make that model anymore but it's fantastic. I'll be looking into this one soon!

    So I just got mine today. Wow. A great piece of kit. With exchange, shipping and import taxes it cost me around $550 dollars to Toronto Canada. I compared this to a new other brand les paul and I was struggling to find one for less than $800 with a lower spec and much cheaper feel. The Xavier is a cracking guitar! Very happy with it.

      So if I get one of these, what will I realistically need to replace for super stable tuning and good tone? Tuners, bridge, nut, pups?

    They used to make a Zemaitis like guitar but with 24 3/4 scale length, both in solid colors and shell top (no metal top models). I don't think I've ever read a bad review on one. Of course due to lawsuits those guitars were discontinued. It would be nice to have a decent quality budget Zemaitis option available today.
