Personal favorite work horse is the LP Tribute. I love the satin finish, feels smooth and easy to play for hours, sometimes about not having binding makes it feel a little more responsive and resonate as well as i always feel coil tapped/ split pickups take away tone but the last 2 points could just be me.
I also have a 2018 SG Special with 24 frets and the firebird pickups. ABSOLUTE BEAST of a guitar. Great for metal, jazz, soul R&B and Reggae

Really enjoyed this one - thanks for taking the time to put it together! I'm primarily a Les Paul person, my first electric was (still is) a 1968 LP Custom I bought from a friend in the early 70s - it was my only electric thru my band days and stayed with me into my studio days. Recently I bought the Epiphone 1959 'Gibson hybrid' which I like a lot, interesting getting to know a chunkier neck, and also the Cantrell 'Wino' which is great, the neck and ebony fretboard feel very familiar and, frankly, I just love the colour. I tried the Epi Custom and it's great but the 'Wino' won the toss. My next purchase will definitely be an Eastman SB59/v - tried one and love it. There are a couple of Gibsons I would love to own, a 2011 Long Island Ltd. Edition I have been checking out and maybe the new Deluxe with mini humbuckers - need to try it out but the brighter edge the pick-ups give it seems pretty interesting (also they have a Wine red!). Thanks again.

My best, and I've had many, Les Paul is a 2016 Gibson Studio 60s Tribute with P90s. It outshined both my 50s and 60s Standards, Faded, Traditional and Classic. To date, it is the only one I've kept because it keeps beating out the others.

I had an Epiphone Les Paul standard and wasn't satisfied. Sound was okay but had a loud pop when I used the 3 way switch. Traded it in for a Gibson Les Paul Studio. I liked the neck but we never really never bonded. I kept looking till I finally found my Goldilocks. Great tone, quality build and the neck that I love. It is the Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s. I hated to give that much for it but as soon as I got home and plugged into my Marshal DSL 40, I knew I had made the right choice. Thanks for all the info. I learned allot.

Thanks for the review….1950’s Epiphone LP in heritage cherry sunburst for me. It came perfectly setup from Sweetwater. I LOVE the look, sound and feel of this guitar and can’t put it down. I was worried about the size of the neck as I have fairly small hands, but it is so comfortable to play!

I recently bought a Epiphone Les Paul Modern in Caribbean Blue Fade. I absolutely love this guitar. When I was much younger I didn't mind my 1975 Gibson Les Paul Standard. But at over 10 lbs it was just too heavy to stand and play for any length of time. I love the weight of the Les Paul Moderns and I use all of the electronic features such as the coil split and phase switch.

Yeah I was kinda disappointed he didn’t mention the Epi Les Paul Modern. My teenage daughter has been wanting a Les Paul and I just snagged a very nice used Epi Les Paul Modern for her off of ebay for $400 for her upcoming Birthday (Jan 3rd-so gotta buy her Birthday gifts at same time I’m buying her Christmas gifts to get benefit of sales and because some things sell out by Christmas) Just received it -its the all kver Radio Blue metallic color (Sweetwater exclusive) it feels and looks amazing-so light for a Les Paul and the contoured neck heel feels amazing. Didn’t plug it in though because she was home and I had to quickly put it in case I had for it and get it hidden (in plain sight 😊, so she wouldn’t actually see it, to keep it a surprise). If it sounds and plays as well as my 2021 Epi LP Custom, she will be thrilled I think.

Great vid! I love signature guitars for the specs & appointments that you can't get regularly. I would agree with the P90 statement: Every one needs to own a P90 Les Paul. I have a 2018 Gibson Classic Gold Top w/P90s and wouldn't trade it. There's no weight relief but it won't neck dive either. I have 3 Epiphone Les Pauls and you can't go wrong there. My latest purchase is the Epi Les Paul Modern Access with coil split & phase switching & locking Grovers priced at $799. The craftmanship has approved greatly. If you have to have the Gibson name but have a budget, get the Les Paul Studio (satin or gloss).

Great video. I had an Epiphone LP Std that I bought 20 years ago and upgraded pickups and tuners. Great guitar. Then a 2016 Gibson LP Standard which was great but sold it to buy a mountain bike and kept my Fenders. Then I saw the new Epiphone LPs and I had to have another LP. I got the 60s Standard because I love the neck vs. the baseball bat of the 50s. Just my taste. I really am having a great time playing a LP again. Early days but I may just leave it as it was right of the wall.

I also think that If I could only have one it would be a 50's standard cherry burst. But I have to say it would probably be a slash lol. The reason I say this is that the backs are darker and they look so much better. I would put the blank cover on the truss rod for sure lol. Again great video and looking forward to the fender upcomming. Gods Blessing and rock on

I have a 2020 Epiphone Les Paul Classic in honeyburst. Not too heavy and I love the sound of the Alnico classic pro pickups. Has a slimmer feeling neck for a LP that I really love. The light colored Indian laurel fretboard is my only complaint, but I can live with it.

I enjoyed the upload. I'm sitting a day before my birthday with COVID and this took my mind off how bad I feel at least for a little while. I wish I could get a silver burst custom. A Gibson Les Paul standard double cut is my dream guitar. Epiphone Les Pauls are great sounding/playing guitars beginner/light gigging. It's something about a Gibson. The guitars are just more. More volume, notes ring out the way they should, more overtones, they plek the frets, hardware is rock solid. I got lucky and had access to a Gibson Les Paul for a small period of time and it was so awesome. It ridiculous how nice Gibsons are. Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

It's got a fat 50s style neck and even with relatively short fingers, I'm finding that neck to be my favorite. And man, it just jumps with responsiveness, resonance and sustain. I've got the 50's Standard (two of them - one in Lemon and one in Gold Top), a Slash LP in Appetite Burst, a Custom in Alpine White, an SG Standard 61, and a 335. My favorite aligns with yours, the 50's Standard. One of mine is just over 9 pounds and the other is right at 8-1/2. Both great guitars and yes, I play all of my guitars on stage for hours, and no, I don't sit while doing it. If a guitar isn't played in my collection, it goes out the door. I play in a band where the other guitarist plays a custom shop 59 reissue and one of the new Explorer reissues. I'd love to be able to spend a lot of money on a museum or wall art piece, but to me, a guitar is meant to be played. I believe you should do what you like with your guitar. Anyone who doesn't think I play them out can check my videos on my channel of the bands and open mics where I'm playing each one at some point. I relic my guitars the old fashioned way, by playing them; though I mean no disrespect to someone who prefers a factory relic.

I had cash in pocket to buy a Gibson studio LP when I walked into the store. after about 2 hours of trying out a few to see if the one I picked was still "my" guitar I left with an Epiphone LP Custom. Arctic White with ebony fretboard. Much less $ and I am really happy after a year with it. I have considered a set of p90 for it with the money I saved, but the tone is already quite nice so it is a low priority

I am ready to buy a les paul! Go a standard 60s as i had an r7 and did not like the big neck....but it still has issues, it holds back a bit...and sounds a bit thin(!) sometimes its got a bright tone which i do like...but i sytill search for a better one, i can afford it but 7500 gives me the creeps! After being totally disappointed on a fender cs strat my faith in custom shop is gone. Epiphones are great for the money but you do hear it in the sound ❤

I have a Les Paul Standard 2017 and I've thought of it as the guitar I've always wanted. Recently I bought a Chibson Les Paul '56 Custom Shop Re-issue replica, just like the one I had back in the 70's. Soap bars, thick neck, 7 pounds and no frills aside from the tiger maple top and what looks like a lemon burst finish. After playing that thing for a week, I picked up my 2017, and shocker. I discovered how much work it needed to play as well as my Chibson. Plus, those humbuckers will never have the spice of the soap bars. They are just alive. I've got a new favorite guitar, and it's not the Gibson.

I've owned two Gibson Les Pauls...a new '70 Gold Top Standard and a new '92 Flame Top Standard. My third and best by far Les Paul is a 2021 Epiphone '50s Standard with a '59 shaped neck. To me the word "Vintage" is just a sales pitch. I was there when they were new.

You can swap out the signed truss rod cover on the Slash LP with the plain black cover that’s included with the case candy. Yes, there is Slash art on the back of the headstock but how often will you stare at the back of the headstock.? You’ll eventually forget it’s the SLP.

What are your thoughts on Eastman, just to throw a wrench in the mix. I've heard that " it scratches the LP itch, but you still want a Gibson.. the problem is they're so good that nothing outside the custom shop would scratch the itch after playing an sb59, or sb55 etc"

New guitars are like new cars. With guitars, you might have to choose between two identical Les Pauls in the store. Perfect twins, 1 digit difference in the serial # , but you might fall in love with one over the other. But with cars, you want to check the assembly date to buy one made on Tuesday or Thursday. Monday is weekend hangover day, Wednesday is HUMP day, and Friday is payday. Less distractions on Tues & Thurs. I wonder if that’s true in a guitar factory?

I love that you include some negatives instead of just selling everything as wonderful. Some things are a matter of personal choice, but some things are to be avoided.
