maya's depression definitely started after Cam's su*****. She never seemed to process it well, then the things with zig and his bad habits, the stuff with her sister, the bus crash, the stuff with miles...like she never caught a break
This show SLEPT on Mike Dallas! He was FANTASTIC given serious plot lines! They could’ve gave him SO MUCH MORE! Imagine a storyline fighting for his son if the mom was to move away etc His seen yelling at Ally is SO WELL DONE

The whole 8 episode arc when Rick comes back gets bullied the shooting and the after math with Sean leaving is perfection. It pains me to say how even more relevant that storyline is today
maya's obsession with disasters after her own trauma was big mood i was glad they did that but wish theyd said out loud she had ptsd from various things, not "just" depression
miles & his father definetely had the best daddy issues depiction. i’m a hardcore miles stan like u for sure. i also looove holly j & sav i feel like that was an underrated arc. sav & anya’s fake pregnancy too 😭
We didnt get to see J.T.'s upbringing because they made it up. He used to have parents and then all of a sudden, his grandma is the one who raised him. 😅
I never really thought about this before but it’s crazy that Maya got to the point that she did after saying that it was selfish of Cam to take his own life when she later attempted the same thing.
In regards to Cam as a character. I felt like he was severely underutilized. We never really go to know much about him as a character and knowing that his character was written in the shoe just for the show to have a s*icide storyline makes it make sense why i felt that way

I loved the entire storyline with Bianca and Drew’s relationship, leading into her ties with Vince, drew getting jumped, meeting Katie, and coming back to b full circle
I had a hard time trying to think of a storyline that was my favorite, but one that will always stand out to me was when Becky stood up against her family after her brother had assaulted Zoe. Her family tried to manipulate her into testifying against Zoe, but Becky stood 10 toes down against her family, even stating that her brother explicitly told her outside of the courtroom that he had assaulted Zoe( currently still re-watching so I’m not sure if that’s exactly how it went down but all I know is that her brother had told Becky about it and then she said it in court)
Cam's suicide and how Maya was affected after that until the show ended was the only storyline that made me cry and one that I related to. I am similar to Maya in ways that are unimaginably harmful to my well-being. I've thought about dying before, I've never tried but I'd damage my body. I also still to this day develop an obsession with death; reading and watching how people die in many different ways, how it would feel to die, and I also would watch news stories like this and read autopsy reports on celebrities who have died in tragic ways. You don't think about it much when you're a child, you know it's scary, but there's a mental barrier separating your understanding of death. Even now, how vague and depressing Olivia Scriven's Instagram is, I feel that although she didn't like her character on the show, I can still see that it's followed her since.
I remember in a later season after the gang from Lakehurst started going to Degrassi they were going to have a dance on the anniversary Rick died & he came back & haunted everyone & also possessed Jane, Spinner's girlfriend at the time. Spinner talked him down & it was then Rick realized he was dead. Holly J later felt it wasn't right to have the dance because it was the anniversary of Rick's death
I agree with your choices but also I would add Paige’s rape with her trial. And Emma does annoy me but with Jordan that was intense. Jane with her father and Adam coming out.
I agree about paige I think he trial is even better written then the actual assault. Jane storyline was pretty boring tho it came out of nowhere and the revelation when Lucas finds out he barely reacts and the mom doesn’t react that type of storyline should have had an explosive reveal and more build one of the few misses degrassi has done with serious topics

He came on the show too late when it was coming to a close. But he definitely made season 12 lit the short storyline with Claire was hilarious
Maya's storyline was the most realistic. It mirrors my life in a lot of ways. It was a culmination of events that snowballed into depression.

I'm glad you mentioned JT selling drugs storyline because it's very overlooked. The actor that played JT really did a great job with that.
