Shawn is gonna end up being one of the best climbers of all time if he isn’t already in the conversation. Regardless of the grades and his insane tick list, dude is just an amazing person and represents the climbing community so well
I wanna know how strong he is! There’s not really any footage of him training or showing his true physical limit unless it’s on the wall, which is pretty hard to gauge from looking at a screen. On screen v17 looks like v10 but in reality, I wouldn’t even be able to hang on these holds

It's spectacular to watch an incredible climber who actually loves the sport. Usually pros are so angry, so frustrated, yelling, freaking out... It's clear that Shawn actually enjoys projecting. He enjoys failing as much as he enjoys sending. Shawn makes me want to project myself differently at the crag... Maybe one day everyone can embody Raboutou.

Yelling and being frustrated doesnt mean you dont love the sport. Not taking anything away from Shawn but you think Federer doesnt "truly" love tennis just because he smashes his racket once in a while when he gets frustrated? So hyped for this chanel! Shawn is such a humble strong guy. Watched him before on mellow and I was always so hyped about videos with him, you always knew it will be banger when Shawn was in the video. For me there is something about him. Of course he is really strong but there was always something about his dressing style and his vibe. So now being able to see behind the scenes is like a dream! Keep it up man! You are my inspiration.
Recently listened to an episode of the Nugget Climbing Podcast comparing the differences and similarities between climbing style and approach to projecting between Shawn and Aidan. What I found especially interesting was the open-hand/half-crimp/high angle crimp use and how pinkie length can play into it. Geeky AF and so inspiring! 🔥
You know it’s kind of nice seeing someone like Shawn fail miserably on something. Even if it is still harder than anything I will ever do. Shows he’s still (somewhat) human 😅

Actually, in this particular video, you can really see what differs pro from normal climbing folks : constantly thinking about improving beta, micro betas, body positioning awareness, feedback from others and direct video feedbacks, isolating moves & endless psyche...
I just started climbing because of Shawn and seeing him fail these insane Route but still trying and trying shows me that I too should keep up even if I fail a 4b.
It seemed to me the difference was where Shawn was holding his torso. Aiden's was lower right, I think, so when he made the move, his torso stayed mostly stationary. When Shawn made the move, his torso would swing through and take him right off the wall.
Not that I am anyone to tell a V17 climber what to do, but just my observation.
