Ah. My favorite film has never looked better. It's hard to believe such a visually wonderful piece is almost 100 years old. Thank God the Federal Film Archives held on to the original camera negatives. Without the proper storage and preservation that film would have turned to dust years ago.
Really awesome, these restorations of movies we remember seeing all shitty quality and blurred, thinking thats how it was originally. Of course, its been cleaned up and all, but the original filmstock it was shot on, couldn't have been as blurry as we saw on other formats like cassettes and dvds and especially TH-cam. These were technically good looking films even in that era, and people who saw them in cinemas when they came out, have to be luckiest people
The only copies of the 4k version I have found for sale are not available in English. Will an English version be available in 4k? Does anyone know? I am itching to get this masterpiece in 4k.
Eureka label will be releasing this on region free 4K UHD disc in November of 2023. I currently have several of their titles on blu ray, region B locked. They do top tier offerings with both the presentation and packaging of their films/releases.

The 2014 restoration blows my mind. Makes a 100 year old film look like it was made in the 50-70s
