  • We stayed at a lovely little CL site in Buntingford called Mill End Plants. It only had 5 caravan pitches along with a garden centre and a tea room. As the Electric was pay as you go we decided to try going off grid for 48 hours with the help of Allpowers S2000 and 2x 200w Solar panels. We was so Surprised how well the S2000 Lasted and provided all the electricity we needed for our 2 night stay. The solar panels performed better than expected and charged up the S2000 really Quickly.
    If your Interested in the S2000 and the 2x 200w solar panels we have a link below👇also thanks to Allpowers they have given us a 10% discount code for you to use.

    You guy's are so natural to watch (unlike some of the caravan channels) keep the posts coming The honest review in this video is proof of that. Personally in 34yrs of caravanning we've only ever done 1 night off grid but that was at a steam rally so no call for this type of power unit really, but if we did we would be ordering one as clearly a very good power bank, Well done keep the video's coming

      Thank you for a lovely comment ☺️ we really appreciate it!! Yes I think if you are going to invest in one of there’s power banks you would have to be doing a fair few off grid camping to get your moneys worth but it did surprise me was better then what I thought it would be

    Would just like to add that on the second night we did run 4 lights in the caravan and also watched tv for 2-3 hours. Really impressed and surprised that we never saw it go below 70% all weekend. As the sun was out both mornings it didn't take long to charge back up ready for the next night (disclaimer the lowest we charged it up from was 70% as that was the lowest we managed to get it all weekend. This is due to us not plugging in high wattage appliances and being sensible with the usage) Overall really good bit of kit if you use it right and try and save power where you can, ideal for going off grid in a caravan, tent or a motorhome. I have found myself using it at the caravan storage yard to power things like drills, hoover etc

      Thank you ☺️ yes I was really surprised how well it lasted we was lucky to have the sun out to charge it But I think it would’ve lasted two nights if you’re very careful without charging

    Hi, just found your channel, you are near to us we live in Baldock. Top tip for you, if your awning is on a hard standing, get yourself a piece of plastic ( builders damp proof membrane) and put it under your awning carpet, it will stop the damp coming up from the ground. All the best 😊👍

    Just for info. You should get a couple of days just off the caravan battery. As a summer safety for long trips maybe a solar generator might suit a lot of people but we managed 2 weeks off grid with an amazon cheap 150w Portable panel clipped to the battery. Nice site 👌 👍

    • @CaravanTrails
      @CaravanTrails  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah I think if you are spending this kinda money you would have to be doing a far few off grid trips. I did like the s2000 because it let us still use all our 240v plug sockets which we can’t do when running just on the leisure battery, it is a lovely little site thank you for your comment 👍

    Lots of CL’s have started to meter EHU since the price hike as they are on business rates not domestic. We have a motorhome with 200W panel on roof and can last without hookup for a week or more. Excellent review and will add the CL to our list to try 👍

    • @CaravanTrails
      @CaravanTrails  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know I lot of people have solar panels on the roof of there vans and they work great, I did like the power bank so we could use all our 240v plug sockets, there isn’t much around the CL site but if you want a nice relaxing night or 2 and some countryside walks, it’s a lovely little CL

    I use a solar panel connected to the caravan battery (using the crocodile clips) in the summer in Scotland where it doesn't get fully dark until after 11pm, but I don't bother with a tv and i managed to keep the battery fully charged but it was exceptionally sunny for the 2 weeks I was away.

    • @CaravanTrails
      @CaravanTrails  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We was lucky as we have bit of sun for the 2 days even though it can still charge on the solar panels when it’s cloudy just not as much. If we didn’t need to use the 240v plugs to charge cameras phones etc then just getting the solar panel is a great idea

  • @Bessie66
    @Bessie66 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Wow just checked the price of the solar panels 😱

    • @CaravanTrails
      @CaravanTrails  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes they are expensive, we don’t have any electric at the storage yard so I use the portable generator mostly for the storage yard if I need to do some jobs as for the solar panels, they are a bit situational, especially in Britain where the sun is a bit shy 😂

    We lived in our van for 7 months while waiting for a new house to be completed and the first week we were there we had a problem with our electric hook up. We had to wait over a week for an engineer to attend to fix the vans electric. We managed for the 8 nights we were without EHU from the sola panel on the roof of the van and that’s even charging up 2 iPads, 2 iPhones and an Apple Watch plugged into the sola panel control unit. Going back to when we started caravanning though back in the 90’s we used to manage 2 weeks on a leisure battery because we didn’t have EHU. EHU wasn’t even a thing back then.

    • @CaravanTrails
      @CaravanTrails  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know people do just use the leisure battery only thing I find is we can’t use any of our 240v plugs if we just run on the leisure battery, can’t really charge anything and our tv is not 12v. Thank you for your comment 👍

    What a breath of fresh air you two are! I was sick to death of power bank reviews until I saw yours, informative, interesting, truthful and just fun to watch, well done. Just one thought, what do you do when you go out and leave hundreds of pounds of kit on display? Anyway keep videos coming, so much better than many TH-camrs who are getting stale.

    • @CaravanTrails
      @CaravanTrails  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Really appreciate your kind comment ☺️. I think it depends on where you are yes they is a risk of it getting stolen we was on a very small CL site with only 5 pitches and only 1 other motorhome so it felt secure, but yes that could be a problem leaving it out when you are not about. I would probably pack it away in till I returned.

    • @CaravanTrails
      @CaravanTrails  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The solar panels are good for keeping the leisure battery top up, just wouldn't be any good for us if we wanted to use the plug sockets as all ours are 230v so would need something like to S2000 as well if we wanted to watch tv, change phones etc

      We only use adult only CL’s and because they are privately owned the owner’s are always friendly and welcoming. We have had a free cream tea when we were at a site near Launceston and a welcome home make cake from another to name a couple of instances. They all vary in regards to amenities some might have a shower block, some might be a bit basic where you have to use all your on board facilities but always good value compared to the all singing all dancing sites.
