  • Final Audio just won my sub-$25 IEM shootout. But does that success carry to their $500 B3? If you like the E500, I think you'll like the B3... but how's it compare to other similarly-priced all-BA sets? I've spent some time listening to find out.
    See the Final Audio B3 on Amazon: amzn.to/2S6qyVn
    Dunu SA6 on Dunu: www.dunu-topso...
    BGVP DM8 on HiFiGo: hifigo.com/pro...

    I’m a big fan of my B3s. They are my travel IEMs since they seem indestructible and are comfortable to listen to. I agree about their beautiful tech aesthetics, nice slim case, stiff cable (I swapped mine out), and ear hooks that I never use. Sound wise I prefer them to my Andromeda 2020s when listening to acoustic music, jazz trios, and any intimate recording. Great review - thanks!

    Interesting story Final Audio actually got me in IEMs, started off with the heaven ii, heaven vi and now the a8000.
    The a8000 by the way is a very technical iem in my opinion leaning towards the more analytical side of things. To my ears, they are a colder sounding iem with some beautiful detail retrieval

    The Final B3 sounds like something that would sound at its best when played a bit louder as its curve would work well (Fletcher-Munson effect). Or like you said as a lower relaxed listen.

    To be fair, almost all professional Monitors that are used for analytical and detailed listening have this kind of sound signature.
    What audiophiles describe as analytical and detailed has nothing to do with what professionals need for analytical listening.
    These pushed upper mids especially Chinese Earphones have make things sound more detailed and clearer at first, has nothing to do with how much detail an earphone is able to resolve.
    To analyse music professionally, you need an very good balance of all frequencies, you do not have that when the upper mids are pushed. You can hear them better because they are in your face then, but they also cover up the other frequencies much more than audiophiles tend to admit.
    All the professional IEMs that are used for monitoring like the Shure SE846, FitEar TG335, Vision Ears VE8, Sony IER-M9, 64 Audio U18 and so on have this kind of tuning. Not exactly like the B3, but very similar.
    So these are actually excellent for analytic listening or to hear a lot of detail, but the do not throw the details in the upper mids in your face which is what a lot of audiophiles want because it makes everything sound clear and crisp and so on.
    It is an Quality over Quantity Earphone

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  ปีที่แล้ว

      TBH I'm not too familiar with which IEMs are commonly used in professional settings apart from the awful Shure SE215, but the headphones I see most often used by video editors are Sony 7506 (bright AF) and Beyerdynamics (bright AF). I don't even know that "bright AF" is "ideal for professionals" as much as they are just ubiquitous reference points. If you're a stage performer, in a recording studio, producing a recording, or doing the final mix or mastering, probably you'd benefit from different headphones/earphones. But I expect ubiquity, cost, and (to a lesser degree) personal preference are primary determining factors in what actually gets used by "professionals." (I put the word professionals in quotes because it's a really imperfect word for generalizations like this.)

    @19:04 nice clear short summary of how these compare to eachother and based on your ranking:
    Final,Dunu,BGVP
    Bass quality 1(mid bass),2(sub bass),3(mid bass)
    Bass quantity 2,1,2
    Treble quality 3(lacks definition),2(fave tuning ever),1(lacks definition)
    Mids resolution 3,1,2
    Comfort/fit 3,1,2
    Looks 1,2,3
    the Dunu seems the best all round pick from these tho be interested in how it compares soundwise to say the Etymotic ER4XR (if you've heard that) or some other 'reference'

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the Dunu better than ER4XR. It has more sub-bass emphasis and much stronger 3D effect, separation between instruments, etc. Treble quality ER4 may still win, it's so good there, but I find the SA6 much more engaging overall.

      @@SuperReview Thanks, makes sense, generally I've found a larger chamber behind the driver gives more sense of 3D soundstage / sound coming from beyond one's ears and deeper insertion limits sub bass resonance in the ear canal (as well as comfort!)

    All of a sudden all my favorite blogs have gone from short and succinct to 45 minutes to an hour. I automatically turn off if they’re super long. Why is it now that all the videos are going live and so long?

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      (1) I've been doing this for a year, (2) the review portion of the videos is the same length as before, I just now spend another 30-40 minutes talking to the audience. If you want the same content in the same 15-20 minute form, it's there.

      Although I bet if you could get you hands on some DACs headphones, other stuff. Than you could become a front runner for the wider "audio equipment" video market.
      And your style and personality. As well as how you discover things I think theirs a good chance you would do well. But, diminishing returns I guess is one rebuttle to that. It's a niche market either way

    I've been using $990 Shure se846 iem for 6 years but they are falling apart, what would you suggest for a similar replacement? (main feature for me was the 37db sound isolation)

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't heard the SE846. For pure sound isolation, Etymotic is very strong, but also a lot of sealed BA IEMs will be similarly strong (e.g. Moondrop S8). I believe SE846 is tuned pretty warm / relaxed, so something like Moondrop S8 may be a bit shocking initially (it's more forward / analytical). For a warm tune in similar price range, think Campfire Andromeda, or maybe ThieAudio Clairvoyance, though I'm not sure how they do on isolation.

    • @Vamp898
      @Vamp898 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The sure is an stage monitor, that is why it does have this good isolation.
      You'd have to replace it with an stage IEM if you want similar or better isolation.
      FitEar TG-Series, Sony IER-M7/M9, Vision Ears VE Series and so on.
      The FitEar TG335 and the Sony IER-M9 are my personal favourites and especially the M9 outperforms the SE846 by a lot

    How does it compare with A4000?

    • @SuperReview
      @SuperReview  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't spent much time with the A4000, but I didn't really like it.

    • @vxoblivionxv
      @vxoblivionxv 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A4000 is technically impressive for the price, but the tuning is so bright that I couldn't make them work for me. I ended up giving them away to someone who uses them for gaming. B3 is so much better overall imo. It's a very non offensive tuning, and I would say above average technicals(great soundstage width imo). I think they might be slightly overpriced due to being a "premium" sort of product, but I don't regret the purchase.

    • @Vamp898
      @Vamp898 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The A4000 sounds very special and unique. It's an bright, wide, clear and clean sound Final calls transparent and the B3 sounds way more average/normal than the A4000
      The A4000 is designed to be an addition to what you have, the B3 is designed to be your only In-Ear.

    Would you make a video titled
    " best IEM(s)to recommend a iem newbie"
    In the comment section of this here video
    th-cam.com/video/EpLd_uDFBb4/w-d-xo.html
    I tried to get this guy into iems, but that was my first week having iams.
    And since then I've tried way better stuff and I've got to say I would not recommend the zsn pro to someone who's new, just cuz they're so damn simblant (imo)
    So it has me wondering well what the hell do I tell him. I wouldn't want him to get the zsn pro and then be like damn these things really hiss and never buy another IEM because of it.
    So the idea for the video would be something that maybe isn't that offensive to the ears something that's definitely affordable just in general a good introduction to iems.

      @@SuperReview i guess i lean toward a more understated, simple look for the metal shell iems, like the Shuoer h27 or the new tin hifi t5. Though i do think the Dunu est112 looks cool. But i guess its kind of simpler looking too. KINd of simple, high tech. Dont care all that much though as long as it sounds good and wears comfortably. The Est112 is my current favorite iem. For resin iems i guess i dig the ones with the one-off cool colors like the dunu sa6, the fearless audio offerins and the like. But also like the more simple, less busy shells like the shozy form models. Im pretty easy when it comes to aesthetics, i guess im just not a fan of the harder lines and edges of the final or models like the shuoer tape and campfire iems. At any rate, your doing a nice job with the videos. Keep them coming. I was on the fence regarding buying the est112 and your est video may have been the decider for me to go for it. Its definitely my cup of tea. Though i do want the sa6 too:-) Thanks.

    So... you telling me that this $500 IEM doesnt sound any better than a $25 earphone ?? So if this is the case why are on earth are bragging on a product that can't even beat a $25 iem and yet wants $500?

    • @SuperReview

      They have different strengths / weaknesses, audio is rarely linear in the way you're describing. But I think the appeal of B3 is the build quality -- if you don't care about it, no need to consider B3 IMO.
