That’s because Hasina’s Awami League party didn’t allow the news to be spread to the outside world while the anti-quota protests were still taking place. One of her “loyal” ministers from her cabinet shut the internet off intentionally to keep people from the outside world away from getting to know the truth about this country’s situation.

@@manunitedindiaThank you for your perspective. While it's true that India has a stronger economy and foreign reserves, geopolitics is about more than just economic might. Bangladesh's evolving relationships with its neighbors, including India and China, are important factors to consider. China has been increasing its engagement with Bangladesh, investing in infrastructure and development projects, which strengthens ties between the two countries. This growing friendship could shift regional dynamics, especially as China continues to expand its influence in South Asia. On the other hand, there have been ongoing issues between India and Bangladesh, particularly concerning river water sharing, which has been a point of contention for years. Disagreements over the distribution of water from transboundary rivers like the Teesta and Padma have created tensions, and the lack of a long-term resolution could impact the relationship further. Additionally, the stance of a new government in Bangladesh could affect cooperation on security matters, such as the capture of escaped criminals who may pose a threat to regional stability. If the new government chooses not to collaborate closely with India on such issues, it could lead to increased friction. These are just some of the issues there and many more... It's important to note that while these challenges exist, the future of India-Bangladesh relations will depend on how both countries navigate these complexities. Frankly speaking, factors such as religion, small land area, and large population have presented challenges to your country's development. While new leadership may bring positive changes but significant advancements might be hindered by these underlying issues. Just a view from a man from another country, I will travel to Bangladesh once the country achieves greater stability.
How US and west intervened in Bangladesh and South asia to make a naval base to fuel violence in south Asia reigion. Us just before election met with jamat( a banned radical faction supporting pakist and which did not support creation if Bangladesh in 1972) and BNP party. This protest is part of big plsn. Us insisted shel hasina to make naval base or a separate country for it naval base
This reminds me of my own country's history. In the 1990s, students protested because of an economic issue. This led to the fall of my country's second president's reign. The situation in Bangladesh is similar because both protests are carried by students.
The movement against job quota discrimination has now turned into a democratic movement, and this movement is being carried out peacefully by the students, my appeal to the international community is to help the students of Bangladesh to regain their democratic rights. -And this authoritarian government has killed more than 1000 students by using firearms on peaceful protesting students and (Bangladesh Army, Navy, Police, RAB, BGB) and other law enforcement forces have used firearms on peaceful protesting female students and violated human rights. My strong appeal to the international community and the United Nations is that the ongoing student massacre in Bangladesh should be tried in the international court, as a student I also urge you to take strong steps to stop this student massacre as soon as possible.
I hope Bangladesh prosper with thriving democracy where every citizens voice is heard including the minority. Please do not copy like Arab spring of Egypt where the power ultimately gone to the Military

@fuzzywuzzy0549Mostly, yes, but there were slightly better days, and leaders were lesser evils. We struggle for that and make the most of it while it lasts.
@fuzzywuzzy0549 Thats pessimistic and very narrow minded. In fact it is objectively wrong. Bangladesh infact saw some of the greatest levels of development economically and socially during the past few decades. It is expected to retain this rate of economic growth. What the people of bangladesh ahieved in forcing the previous dictatorial regime resign is infact commendable. To this day it is growing rapidly as an industrial powerhouse, manufacturing textiles and apparel among other things. It also has a booming tech industry, and more and more foreign entities are eying Bangladesh to pour their investments. The general economy Bangladesh is growing at 7-8% while their GDP per capita saw 9.4% growth in recent years. Bangladesh is currently a lower middle class country, by 2031 it will become a upper middle class country, and by 2041 a developed one. India is another bright example. It is the fastest growing major economy in the world and its industrialising at a very healthy high rate. Even when the global economy has slowed down upon the covid impact India still growing above and beyond expectations at 8.4% in 2023. It has a significant tech industry and even has ventured on to AI startups. In recent years, India made some of the greatest achievements in improving living standards for their population. India is expected by most, Reuters, Goldman Sachs and many other researchers alike, to grow past even the American economy. Its quiet clear South Asia as a whole is growing at a rapid rate. You can make a blatantly racist assumption with no basis about "the state of the nation will likely be the same." . Regardless of the fact the state of nations in south asia has CONSISTENTLY gone upwards and currently is on a very steap upward trajectory. A century ago, chinese were backwater. They were either coolies for european powers or starving in their homelands. No one expected the great chinese economic miracle, infact thats why its called an economic miracle. It wouldn't hurt for you to put aside your racist views and review the objective truths.

Frankly speaking, factors such as religion, small land area, and large population have presented challenges to your country's development. While new leadership may bring positive changes but significant advancements might be hindered by these underlying issues. Just a view from a man from another country, I will travel to Bangladesh once the country achieves greater stability.
What do you really know about our history and our struggles?
You were not there during the Liberation War.
Proud to be Bengali 🇧🇩
History lol 😂 you this bg have history all land belongs to Vedic Arya's not blacky people
@@AlphaO2-rp8rt I am Vedic, not Blacky Dravidian. You know Bengalis are also Bharati.
@@AlphaO2-rp8rt Our path is chosen by different countries.
This isn’t the first Gen-Z revolution. The first was in Myanmar in 2021 and it still continues.
Bangladesh one is actually gen-Z lead but all anti-government people were involved. Student and General people's movement.
You HAVE to TRY to understand WHY people are ANGRY.
This is GENERATIONS In The Coming.
Love To Our Freedom Fighters GLOBAL.
Us insisted shel hasina to make naval base or a separate country for it naval base
we are fighters.
But the guardian approves of this?
Guardian where were you when 1500 people were killed by police, army and intelligence, and different wings of awami League...
Politicians love quotas.
I'm from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Now we free alhamdulillah
I sincerely hope their new government will be better than the previous ones and not a simple replacement.
Protest 1% , religious and political 99%
I thought Kenya did these about two months ago.
Love from Denmark 🇩🇰
Effect of Madrasa education
Gumutrokhors are crying🤣
No one will listen to you! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
👎🏻
You are highly educated
For this reason your president is a tea saller 😂😂
I hope Bangladesh prosper with thriving democracy where every citizens voice is heard including the minority. Please do not copy like Arab spring of Egypt where the power ultimately gone to the Military
Democracy is under threat in many parts of the globe, becoming only a “Fancy Term”
America needs st martin island in bangalldesh sheikh haseena refused to handover now america flamed the protest which is already on going and now bangladesh in zero

Build toilet first
Revolution in these parts of the world only mean swapping one dictator for another 😂
U appear to be indian. What are you trying to say by 'these parts of the world'
Agree 😂
Bravo Bangladesh 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙏🙏🙏
This thuggish rioting is awful. I hope the Guardian will stop promoting this.
Thuggish rioting in UK is not the same as what we had in Bangladesh. You need to know more of our history before suggesting something like this.
We cannot let Kier Starmer get away when he gets his comeuppance! 🇬🇧
If you have a beef with Kier Starmer then talk to him, don't use that to attack on innocent people.
Surprised they have no been called far right ….
I feel proud to be a Bangladeshi
Workers of the world, unite! ❤
Free hyderabad from indain occupation
If they fighting for democracy 😂 they will regret when foreigners play their country like toy 🧸 🤣
We know who is behind this. We know who removed Imran khan from pakistani prime ministership. Now We know why MD Yunus was called to America to get peace prize. We know what is happening to rohingiyas, We know what happened to chin of Myanmar.
We know we are free from Putin’s and Modi’s grip now.
Our older generation always looked down at us. We did something in 15 days which they couldn't do in 15 years.
I’m from 🇵🇭 and I’m so proud of those gen z ( college students, high school, teenagers ) stood up and fought against the massive corruptions of sitting prime minister regime. What makes it unique it is totally a revolt without politicians in the scene.🙌🏻💪🏻
Love from Bangladesh 🎉
Coming to UK soon...
It already here😢
Nice to have another example of the USA overthrowing the democratically elected government of a foreign country in a Color Revolution.
Hope the State Department is happy with the new military base they will be getting in Bangladesh.
you are indian , why you problem ?
@@Love-wz4vg my English is too proficient for me to be an Indian, unless you mean feather instead of dot.

Boycott Pepsi boycott Coke
gen z was making tiktoks and scamming people while millenials and older gens did these protests . gen z gets too much credit . they act like activists in social media but at protests they are not there
Don't edit out the Palestine flag, The Guardian. Do better.
What kind of democracy is it where minority are targeted and killed it's similar to Afghanistan
You can hope but it never goes better in these poor chaotic countries. Next government will be new faces but with the same internal workings, we'll see.
Fight for your freedom. Based!
Love from Bangladesh ❤
It been a long time since I felt pride in being Bengali :D My birth place , my blood.
They make gen z in America look so soft. Young people here don't know struggle or suffering, they complain
Man I sm not even from Bangladesh but I feel so proud ❤
UK natives must take notes from Bangladeshis.
nothing is free 😢😢😢
It costs more than blood
Lots of our brother and sister got killed in this protests.
Bravo to the Bangladeshi young generation bravo.
The BBC has been very quiet on this... Guess the US won't be getting St Martins Island now.
Hope radicals don't enjoy the sacrifices of students
Hope you are enjoying where you live 😊💞.
We don't want right wing parties.
Nobody likes right wings bro only in India they prase modi
is the "job quota" just like the "schedule F" in the USA?
Is like illegal immigrants quota in NYC hotels 😂
Government jobs uk system nay lager na ik degree jani fair kitha jani sobta fair lagser na tik aser
shame on guardian.. Now they are releasing news.. But they were silent when Hasina killed us
Well done India. Corruption has become so bad everywhere. I'm British and our country is falling apart because of corruption and mismanagement. I'd love to see our government on the run 😊😅😊
Why has the guardian used an edited picture of the students atop the building with Bangladeshi flags. Alongside they were holding the Palestinian flag. Bangladesh and Bangladeshis have always supported Palestine
