    The pattern in the tyres is not for increasing the friction. Consider a scenario when a tyre comes in contact with watery surface, due to high adhesive properties of the tyre materials, the water sticks to the surface forming a thin layer of water. This may not be a bigger problem in case of slow moving vehicles. But, in fast moving vehicles, this will result in hydroplaning. In order to avoid hydroplaning, these thread are given to facilitate proper drainage of the water in the center of the tyre and ground the tyre properly. This comes highly essential in road conditions.

  • @gobinathVLB
    @gobinathVLB 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tyre treads are for hydro planning. Not for grip. Grip is more when there is no tread. Eg: slick tyres in f1

    The Tyre example can be more clear... More surface area means more friction... Regular Tyres used in races are smooth and wide... But when it rains or while riding on loose surface the smooth surface doesn't provide adequate grip hence those lines.. They provide a way for water to escape

    Bro, tires have groves to channel liquids from the road and enable the tire to contact with the road. A tire without groves has the highest friction but only if the road is dry. That is why F1 tires have no groves. If the road is wet, the moisture in the road acts as a lubricant between the tire and the road. when there is groves on the tire, the moisture gets into it and allows the tire to make contact with the road directly thereby increasing the friction and giving you more control. This is also the reason why vehicles driving in the snow employ spikes or chains on their wheels.

    Bro nice video but friction is caused due to formation of bonds between two surfaces and not due to irregularities in surface. We cannot easily move two smooth glass plate one over other and the shapes in tyre is to direct the water in road away for tyre so that the area of contact of tyre and road will be more.

    Hi
    Your content is true but not with Tyre threads
    Tyre threads are used as passage to remove dust and water to avoid aqua planning. If there is no threads (grooves) in Tyre then there is more contact area between road and Tyre so more friction more grip for example if u see motogp bike Tyre they don't have threads so they gain Ultimate grip, threads are only used to reduce sliding effect and aqua planning

    I am a great fan of LMES and follow your videos upto date. Just wanted to tell you a small correction in the concept that you explained. I am a tyre design engineer. Pattern on tyre is given for wet grip, not for dry grip.. dry grip of tyre is at the peak when tyre is bald.. reference for this is F1 race. Tyres are bald for peak grip, during rain they change the tyres with pattern. Also i am not convinced with the range of coefficient of friction that you mentioned. Value is from 0 to infinity, not 0 to 1. Needless to say, friction itself is a vast subject to learn and use, I believe i am still a kid to comment more on it..

  • @BarathNG
    @BarathNG 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    F=ma is the right formula and i am an automobile engineer and I have few questions. As i have learnt weight of a person is mass of the person plus the acceleration due to gravity that is being acting on him. In case he is 64kg then his mass would be weight divided by acceleration due to gravity.
    Also as i am automobile engineer, i have few questions when there are threads in the tyre there are air molecules that get trapped and air is bad in coefficient of friction. The reason for threads is to make it suitable for wet conditions of the road. For example if taken for forumula one cars the car tyres have now thread for normal conditions and does have only for wet tyres
