GrimmjawJack I know, right? IronMan is CGI, Hulk is CGI, every fucking hero today is part or fully CGI. So don't blame good designers for bad movie. CGI in this movie was good. On the other hand, the story was bad.
Deadpool and Black Panther are actual suit then touch up by CGI here and there. Here it's completely blank shit that cover up entirely by CGI. It's two different thing. Then there's dumb people bringing up Hulk that is clearly not even the same thing as Hal Jordan GL.
Great suit, but the eye mask. It's as if it wouldve been impossible for them to find one and put it on his face. Really unnecessary to make the mask cgi too.
The problem was the green mask. If the mask would have been black it would have looked a lot better. Even if the black and green would have been more clearly defined and the mask made slightly darker so the brows didn't look so cartoony, it would have sold the look a lot better.
I don't think the movie was that bad, I'm not saying it was great, but it didn't deserve all the hate it got. There have been far worse comic book/superhero movies before and after this one.
Even Ryan Reynold's "Deadpool" itself (many digital-double shots of Deadpool in the movie). Although not many get as much hate, since the CGI has improved since Green Lantern came out.
I don't know why the suit got so much hate. It looked good, and made perfect sense because it is an energy construct that's produced automatically by the ring. The mask sucked ass though. It should've been a physical piece not CG which made it look almost painted on. Plus those shitty contacts. They should've just whited out his eyes. The movie was pure shit though so I guess none of that matters.
I think the cgi on the suit was OK, definitely not as bad as people think it is. But I do think that all their time really went into the suit and not in the actual backgrounds and sfx.
I actually liked the design of the suit. It made sense and the color swap for the gloves was welcomed. I just think they should have made it half practical and half CGI. For instance molding the general look of the green pieces and add a bit of padding, and then add the underlying black parts in post production, while also digitally enhancing the green pads with lighting and etc.... The mask should have been practical as well.
Or better yet have like a two tone silicone suit of green and black and then sculpt out the muscle lines and Lantern logo then use CGI on the suit to make it look like it’s made of energy. Those aliens who are CGI get a passed cause they aren’t proportion like humans.
her name is Ngila Dickson and she was the costume designer for the lord of the rings trilogy. her work here was just a fluke in an otherwise successful career.
As a GL, the suit I loved. I liked that it wasn't a rubber suit, but a green energy showcasing his anatomy. It felt weird and alien like which it should be. Loved the overall look of all the Lantern Corps. I DO think however, they should have gave him a practical mask and then enhance with VFX, might have been easier that way.
I love how they speak of this as some major cinematic accomplishment. I wonder if they knew deep down that the CGI suit looked like cartoon with a floating head.

Am I the only one who liked the suit? Like how it really showed that it was a manifestation from the ring? In the comics, the rubber-like suit might pass that it's from the ring but I don't think it would look like a creation of the ring in live-action if the suit was just spandex. It would still require some CGI enhancement.
This suit setup the ground work for all future CGI suits like Iron Man and Spiderman. For example the airport nearly all the suits were CGI, in fact, that scene was so CG heavy it was closer to an animated film than a live action film.

The idea of the suit being fully cgi because the suit itself manifests whenever the bearer calls for it, and isn’t an actual suit is a good idea, but like I said it should be half actual costume that the actors have to wear, and half cgi.) 3. Have a good to great plot 7. Have a good to great script 8. Make Oath look beautiful and actually build sets for Oath, so it’s not just all cgi (Think Bladerunner 2049, for inspiration) 9. Have the comedy be good and placed well in the story. Don’t just have comedy in it just to have comedy in it. Have comedy that makes since coming from the right characters. Obviously for the reboot, you'd go the other way, and put the human Lanterns in actual suits. With the idea being that the magical/alien ring, can manifest a suit, that isn't visibly all (CGI) green energy.
my opinion, i thought the suit was great. could have used some adjustments but overall it was cool and made sense. I think the movie itself not being particularly great is what damaged everything.

(Non-CGI Green Lantern Costume)
The movie was good it was just another example of we wanting more and changing a film way too many times
I actually like the idea of the suit and what they did but I still wish it wouldn't have been all green. like they should've made the hands white and the dark green parts black. it would've looked better imo
I like the idea of the suit, I just didnt like the final results...
To bad no squeal for Green Lantern 2011 but I am excited for 2020 Green Lantern crops hope they can find the new Actor , I really like Green Lantern 2011 Green Lantern is my favorite DC Superhero it would be cool if Green Lantern have more real life movie .
I dont know why people are shitting on this suit.... i loved the cgi suit. So much work was put into it. Not like spandex would work better :/
Eu sei que a maioria das pessoas não gostam desse filme mas eu gosto
0:17 was great
Obviously for the reboot, you'd go the other way, and put the human Lanterns in actual suits. With the idea being that the magical/alien ring, can manifest a suit, that isn't visibly all (CGI) green energy.
Dre 3000 Real suit with cg enhancements would work
my opinion, i thought the suit was great. could have used some adjustments but overall it was cool and made sense. I think the movie itself not being particularly great is what damaged everything.
a computer-generated costume hey why not computer generate Superman's costume or computer-generated Batman's costume even if you're feeling froggy computer generate the Flash's costume and even less computer generate Wonder Woman's costume or how about the Power Rangers costume from the 2017 movie Let's computer generate those that would be just as good as this Green Lantern movie right?!!!
