The crazy thing is you can make it chain even more with ricochet. I think its a bugged interaction though. The ring says you shouldnt be able to chain, but the ground explosions can ricochet when you have it supported. So it ends up being like twice the amount of explosions. I think its a bugged interaction, but if it isnt, then ricochet makes this even better.
The more I play this game the more I’m learning that some classes are WAY better with another class weapon, kinda crazy can’t wait for all the weapons custom classes gonna go nuts
I noticed something with the bonestorm animation and movement speed. At base, if you press to start the cast (not hold down) when that first bone spawns it will disappear firing only one bone arrow. Now if you take a bit of time to get used to that duration between the initial cast and the first arrow and simply press, let go and press and hold before the first arrow spawns, you can negate the movement speed penalty entirely as if you were not casting but still cast and channel the spell. I mean its not some game breaking tech but its great if you get the hang of it and use to to move about faster than you normally would.
You do need to hold down the spell button just before the first bone arrow spawns for this to work. if you do it too early, it just continues as if you were casting normally and your movement speed is slowed as normal.
@@Loimega this sort of invalidates his pathfinder ascendancy and mobility support gem lol, just making deadeye even better with bone storm with the extra projectile probably making it cast faster and also with tailwind on top, heck maybe run ferocity support with combat frenzy and bushwhack boots for the random 80% more skill speed from dead eye frenzy ascendancy.
@@wizardsofscript Its great early on in the campaign when you dont have the movement support gem and the sort. I used it when i bossed especially when i wanted to needed to dodge and attack. @@Loimega seems really easy for me to do with controller, it's just tap-tap(hold), but I also get vibration feedback which helps with the timing. I feel so fast moving around with it and casting it, I am wearing the Onslaught helmet though. @wizardsofscript interesting, hadn't tried controller, but it makes sense that the vibration feedback would help with the timing. I'm glad this works well at the higher levels. My next character build was going to be a bonestorm build, but i had not settled on the ascendency yet. I'm going to keep controller on mind for this build.
Hey. I started a run with this. I’m only level 49. But realised there is some tech from my monk build you could use. The body armour for power charges you use is super weak. So instead you can use the spirit gem Combat Frenzy which creates frenzy charges when pinning enemies. Then you take the notable Resonance which turns all frenzy charges to power charges. And you click the few “chance to pin nodes” that are already right next to the ranger start. Now you can get rid of the unique armour and use a rare armour with mega high evasion/ES. Or. You can use the pin gem on bonestorm and save the few points on the tree.
@@KallTorak yeah, I don't wanna waste an item slot on bad uniques. Ive put Pin gem into bonestorm, removed pin chance from tree. You can get insanely high evasion and ES from gear, and can scale them through tree too. I just finished campaign and bought ingenuity. I have 80d to spend on this build, so will be looking to scale it. I will be investing in evasion and ES on gear (ES on helm, EV/ES on body), then go acrobatics and CI.
Not sure if someone mentioned this but you can run at full speed with bone storm. Click to ready it, then half a second later click and hold the spell again and you can run at full speed while holding your bone storm up
I feel like people are kinda sleeping on the Life flask pathfinder node. You can build into it with flask duration and recovery on tree, as well as taking the keystone that gives 30% more recovery (yeah who needs charms amirite), you practically then only die to oneshots. It also solves mana issues at the same time as many nodes also benefit your mana flask. Maybe current oneshot meta is not the best time for this node to shine but I still really enjoy it and it will probably get better in future patches as the glass cannon meta gets toned down. I have become quite fond of pathfinder's shell of flask 4-pointer nodes, the 6 passive points and the movement penalty node as a smoth baseline for so many builds, quickly became my favorite ascendancy so far in early access.
One idea I could give that I saw another one use, not sure if its viable here. Or if they use bonestorm as their main spell either. But with Widowhail and a quiver + quiver bonuses. You can reach Bonestorm lvl37. He got +10 levels just through Widowhail+Quivers. And his bonestorm had 1794-3961 physical damage on its main description from my screenshot. But it also eats 565mana per sec.
@@Necralosa I thought about this as well, and it makes a ton of sense for concoction builds because those count as attacks. The problem is that you are now getting nothing from your hand slots except levels, and you need to invest a lot to do so (400% increased quiver effect will cost you another 5 passive points, some jewel slots, and tons of currency on the Widowhail itself). Is +10 gem levels better than the +7 you can get from wand/focus or staff, when you also factor in that you can take other damage modifiers on the non-Widowhail setup?
Love this build. It reminds me of Frost Blades of Katabasis in PoE 1 build in terms of the forking part. (Ice blades is meant for single target but since it can fork, clear speed is great too)
There is a mobility bug that I figured out that removes the movement penalty. There is a split second you can start the channel of the bonestorm when the bones start to form. Quickly release and cast it again, it continues the channel and removes the movement penalty. It still full channels. There must be a weird delay that it wont stop the channel until a bone projectile has fully "materialised"
Just built a version of this yesterday, very much inspired by the witch hunter explode version. I tried infernslist going low life and grinning immolation for a total of 1.6x on Crit damage bonus stat. 565 Crit damage with 10 empty jewel sockets which I have to craft or buy now xD
Widow bow + skill quiver + cask is an easy way to recommend leveling. +2 to projectile can be used at 32, which is an easy +8 to cask, which will take you to whatever endgame build you want for very cheap.
i have been leveling with a sanguinomancy (blood mage) witch using bonestorm as my main spell. The one thing i could not reccomend more when going crit damage is Eye of winter with unleash on it. practicaly instant 10% Crit weakness.
I replaced scattershot for those nodes and I have 50% chance to make 2 extra proj on a cast. It’s interesting and it definetly gives you a damage spike
Did an incinerate pathfinder with the same movement tech. Super comfy. But by the looks of it, your bonestorm might be better due to the fork + explosions if it shotguns for both single target and clear.
Try it with Warbringer (armor break) and skeletal brutes - surprisingly good way to take advantage of the attack phy damage debuff on it. and if they ever fix the negative armor break, hoooo boy
my thing is i wanna make a pure class the first time i play so rolling pathfinder and using bone storm just feels dirty.....for now. Gonna take a look at thorns again after patch?
Yes but you can only get to at most like 4 or 5 poison stacks and I expect bone storm individual hits would not do enough damage to scale the poison well. Plus it'd take a load of passive points to get there plus a support gem.
Im still waiting to see someone abusing this skill. There is a line saying "add Xx phys dmg to next attack" I wanna see someone using this along skills like "Hammer of the Gods" to get big numbers. Its an interesting skill for a battlemage build. Or with shield skills since they are a bit weak and relaying on off hand dmg.
