The vast majority of the WNBA most play over seas in order to see any real money playing basketball. For some, it's just part of the game, but for others, going to a foreign country to make a decent living doing "what you love" gets tiresome really quickly. Fran doesn't give the impression that basketball is in her long term plans. While a scholarship to play at an excellent academic and athletic school is surely a possibility, she seems more focused on the academic aspect of that deal.
