Well, he is right. It is a weird rule that makes little sense. It existed IMO just so that the original Elder Dragons were more equal (they all are fliers, that kill on the third attack), otherwise, Bolas is just way above all others who are basically vanilla creatures. It won't and shouldn't be changed since people are used to it and have decks build it, but it adds very little to most game sessions besides the need to record more stuff.
@@MarvelOfRain I have a lot of decks built from just the cards lying around and the 1 off every set I try to purchase and for some reason I keep adding this weird enchantment aura (2B, gives flying and the ability to sacc another creature to pump for +2/+1, it also returns to hand when the enchanted creature is destroyed) from time spiral to decks that have a reasonably beefy or evasive commander and care about the free sac just to have a safety net if my main win condition isnt working. It has won me 3 games in 2 different decks over only the last 2 weeks and 2 of those were against a life gain orzhov deck which would never have been in range for normal combat. So, imo, commander dmg (as seen in this video as well) is quite relevant. Altough, maybe only on lower power lvl. When I see really tuned decks fight each other their really isnt away around combos most of the time. Just my 2 cents ;) Greetings, Slarenon
@@MarvelOfRain So, you're saying that Commander should be solely combo and control based with infinite life gain running unchecked, because commander damage makes no sense. Care to explain?
My old Trostani deck could achieve, fairly, life totals into the thousands. Commander damage was the one of the only ways to kill me. It's totally fair.
Commander vs, the best content on the internets. Edit: I think you guys should have brought the doj (not sure how to spell). You're not filming in the same place, and it's not the same without it.
Here is my Tuvasa list. It is slightly different from when it was played on this episode of CMDR VS as I have added some MH upgrades. tappedout.net/mtg-decks/20-12-18-tuvasa-the-lit/
Does Teferi’s Protection even stop commander damage? It says your life total can’t change, but is that the same as saying “prevent all damage?” And what about infect?
Yes, Teferi's Protection stops everything, as it phases you out of the game. This basically means you and all your permanents are no longer there, so you're no longer a legal target of anything until Teferi's Protection wears off.
The part that stops infect and commander damage is the 'protection from everything' part as protection keepts you from being damaged, equipped/enchanted, blocked, or targetted so commander damage and infect can't happen.
If I recall there was some mention that if the damage is unpreventable, via an effect, it wont change life totals, but you would still rack up cmdr/infect damage
Well, it doesn’t phase you, as a player, out of the game- only your permanents- but I had forgotten about the “you have protection from everything” part, which does prevent damage.
@@DaddyBearPlays Teferi's protection does not protect your library. You can be milled out by Consuming Aberration while you and your permanents are phased out.
48:04 Jon learns what Athreos 1.0 does XD I've had an Athreos player in my group for a long time. It was disgusting, although he used much more cheap creatures than this version. IDK if Stephen has just had a bad draw, or if this version of the deck really has that high a curve. Also, what was with those math fails? A 12/12 attacks, they all call it's 12 damage, then they only subtract 10. Nine Blood Artist triggers somehow only cost Jon 7 life. What?
The decklist that was submitted for Jeremy wasn't 100% what he played and the deck has gotten a third wave of upgrades. Jeremy is playing it for the 6th time in it's existence. Also it's only loss :( Edit: decklist not checklist.
Enchantress decks are just really good in casual EDH unless your meta has adapted to it. They don't draw a lot of attention to themselves and they are great at stifling combat damage against them. People don't usually play ways to mass remove enchantments. Even if someone does, there are a lot of redundant Replenish-style spells they can cast to put all their enchantments back into play. If someone is playing enchantress they should be hated out early before they can set up their boardstate. Stephen getting rid of Aura Shards most likely gave Jon the game.
@@nemoforever sure, there were somme serious misplays with the aura shards, but a deck like he played requires a casual meta to adapt to it. In any case, I'm getting sick of Jon always playing OP decks.
This video, like all videos and in fact, everything in this world, is on the road to SCGCON
*In addition to the mana costs of playing on site, you must sacrifice audio quality of the subsequent video*
Excited to be on the road to SCG Con!

So much commander damage! This game was awesome to watch! You guys rock!
I respect that Green didnt attack with Kozilek BEFORE sacrificing it. Stand up move that i know i personally wouldnt have been able to make myself do

yeah, he's no suarez. green is the good guy at the table.

Alot of card play images were missed. Makes it hard to know exactly what happens some turns if you cant tell what the card was.

Tuvasa is amazing!
I'd like to see a Darien deck played. It's an interesting commander to play that I do not see often.
One of my favorite decks
In Athreos decklist, one Instant is Blue... XD! Can u fix it guys??
Hi Jeremy. I know this is an older video but is O - Kakachi Compedative with the right cards ? even now with the new sets that have came out ?
Can someone play Aryel, Knight of Windgrace?
After Justin died almost didn’t even want to keep watching
I surely didn't
can i suggest that steven green getting the new changeling commander and naming homunkulus?
What did Jeremy play that prevented all that damage and got counters on it?
Selfless Squire, from C16 preconstructed deck.
Btw I would have applauded you John Suarez!
Parnell clearly boozing in this game! 😁
