    NOTE: I have some misinformation in my video , at 3:39 i suggest to upgrade to 3.68 if your firmware is higher than 3.60. The recommendation is DO NOT update past 3.65 in this instance as you will lose the ability to apply Enso

    • @JeanRodo
      @JeanRodo 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Modern Vintage Gamer don’t update past 3.60 cause you need to be on 3.60 at least to use 3.65 Enso. Otherwise the hcore exploit is out so all versions past 3.60 can do henkaku it just not permanent.

    • @sithseven
      @sithseven 6 ปีที่แล้ว +71

      U should fix this with annotation or editing or pull vid cause that is a really bad advice..

    • @nojvaz2392
      @nojvaz2392 6 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      sithseven its not bad advice. 3.68 allows you to play newer title games that require 3.68 FW. Anything below that is primarily for keeping the Henkaku Permanent. How much energy does it take to reinstall the exploit? Not much since all you do is click on the hencore bubble on 3.68 and reinstall henkaku. Within 5 sec your back on hacks. He gave great advice.

      Modern Vintage Gamer That little word of mouth can definitely work wonders for the PSTV

    • @sithseven
      @sithseven 6 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I disagree, i feell telling someone on 3.61-3.65 to upgrade is really quite bad. No games need >3.65, psn is accessible and I think the flow will release a 3.68 safe upgrader for enzo units.

    Just to note, I've worked on Vita development. The PS Vita TV compatibility is set by the developers (usually). So if there was ever a game that should support it (i.e without much back panel integration) but didn't, you can be sure it was possibly missed by them.
    The few games I've worked on 100% work on it. I made sure of that.

    I actually bought two PSTVs - one to play the newest games, and another to keep on the lowest firmware I could because I KNEW it'd get homebrewed at some point. Considering I only paid $25 for one of them, it wasn't even a costly risk. Glad it's finally paying off.
    Really is a damn shame Sony drops these sort of things before they even start running with them. If Sony had played their cards right, they could have figured out some way to integrate the Vita and the PSTV and beat Nintendo to the market with the whole "console + handheld at the same time" gimmick. But, Sony can't stand to put effort into anything that isn't immediately making them money.

    If you upgrade to only 3.65 you can still install Enso and not have to re-exploit the system on every boot. I don't think there's many games that require 3.67/68. I'm mostly interested in the Vita for homebrew and emulation, so it doesn't matter to me.

My plan was to exploit/mod one and use the other to link to my PS4 for streaming to another TV. Both are fortunately on low firmware versions. However, when I looked into it, everything seemed really complicated; not what to do, but the choice of exploits and benefits of which to use. I was scared to ruin my PSTVs, so I just put them away for a rainy day. This video is the sort of thing I've been looking for since then! Now all I need are some memory cards... no idea where to get those! :(

    I have two PS TVs, it's kind of a lost cause. I visited these techniques about a year ago and, at the end of the day, there's just more convenient ways to play the same games on more modern consoles. The biggest disappointment of this whole PS TV story is the fact that it originally had a youtube application that suddenly disappeared. As far as I'm concerned, a youtube app at this point is pretty mandatory for any modern connected system.

    • @CommodoreFan64
      @CommodoreFan64 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      thehaxfactory I'd rather not have "SMART" TV myself as they will eventually just end up like the PSVita unsupported without updates as companies want you to buy a new model. I'd rather just upgrade a cheap small box like a ROKU Express, or ROKU HDMI stick for all my streaming needs, and SONY could have taken a lot of that market share if only they had give it support, standard SD cards, and dropped the back touch pad on the VITA thus making all games compatible with the PSTV, and the ones that use the touch screen could have worked with a dual shock 4's front touch pad. So your excuse of that smart TV only cost $350 for the $K model, and the 1080p is only $150, you know what, that pays a lot of bills around my house instead of throwing it away on again something that more than likely will be outdated, and unsupported in a few years, and I would know as I was an early ROKU adopter, and recently over the past almost 2 years have had to upgrade all my ROKU boxes to express, express + and ROKU HDMI sticks while still saving my good TV's and costing less then a new 4K "Smart TV's", and that's 8 ROKU devices I upgraded for about $260 USD over that 2 year period.

    • @CommodoreFan64
      @CommodoreFan64 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrDmoney156 agreed, plus why get rid of a good working TV with a "SMART" TV that's gonna become outdated, and unsupported in a few years. I would have loved a PS Vita on each of my HD TV's but as it stands all of them now have ROKU boxes instead, and when they become outdated, I can just replace them as needed for at cheap as $27 each while still keeping my good TV's.

      The PS4 is the ONLY thing keeping Sony afloat. Their disasters with Sony Pictures and Entertainment and the Consumer Electronics divisions are proof Sony is on life support. If they don't hit it out of the park with PS5, they could be doomed. Especially with Project One X and the Nintendo Switch Lite and Pro. Hit it or quit it Sony you ain't got much time if you lose the lead.

      @@deathstrike well said, they already handed over their hosting for psn over too Microsoft. That's why we see cross play on cod now. I can see Microsoft adding windows 10 to their new system and it WILL kill Sony in my opinion. Once 5g is rolled out Google stadia will be the next step after ps5 etc.

    • @deathstrike
      @deathstrike 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cfoodsmella1041 Exactly! Sony who once started the 3d gaming revolution, is now beginning to fall a big behind as it does not really have a backup like Microsoft. Even if the XBOX failed, their IP's alone and Windows 10 and their Surface tablet lines would easily keep them afloat. Nintendo needs not worry as they got 2 massive successes (Switch and Lite) and are the last of the "pick up and play" systems. And Sony? No Vita successor, no VR successor, and no other backup. As for Stadia, I like the idea and it's solid, providing Google doesn't just kick it to the curb like their other projects (Google Plus and Google Glass) and the appeal of an "any device anywhere" is very strong. Just hope that bandwidth (especially in the US) gets better as that is what is killing Stadia for all but a lucky few with good internet speed.

      wow you could do that with the psp but not the vita unless pstv? woww, the whole vita/psp legacy is just a shame, when the vita came out, I loved the hardware, I didn't buy it myself, but I thought the hardware was impressive and hypothetically what everyone wanted; another stick and I think almost simultanious apps running(?) , real shame.

      Yeah you could connect the original PSP 2000/3000 to a tv but they inexplicably removed it from the Vita. And yes you could have multiple apps running simultaneously on Vita, but the game library was so small and petty compared to the og PSP. Only thing missing from the 2000/3000 was bluetooth so if you did connect it to a tv you'd have to use the psp as the controller which is a slight downfall but still better than no TV output at all. PSP go had bluetooth so it could be connected to a tv and played like a proper console but they're more expensive, have a smaller screen and from what i've read more prone to faliure

      So you have buy a whole new system and memory cards to play on a tv when its the same thing you already bought. No one wants to have to buy it twice, swap game cards around and keep save files synced, the vita should of had a tv port but they removed it presumably to sell pstv's, which didn't really work. Also many vita games aren't playable on pstv without CFW.

Looks like if I come across a cheap PSTV I'll have to snatch it up, and give some of this a go, that is if I can find a cheap 8GB PSVita memory card, and PS3/PS4 controller. lol! Having said that the price of the memory cards, and not all the games working is what stopped me from getting a PSTV when it was new, same can be said about the memory cards for the PSVita(price of the system did not help either).

      With homebrew the Vita and PSTV can use sd cards with a cheap adapter, but if you just going with the PSTV its even easier to use a USB drive. There's almost no need to have an official memory card unless you have an OLED model with no internal memory to work with.

    • @CommodoreFan64
      @CommodoreFan64 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      chronossage I've heard of varying results with the adapters of some not working at all, and some working but flaky depending on the SD card used, and from the ones I've looked up on Amazon by the time you get one of the adapters, and an SD card it's about the same price as a PSVita memory card, plus on a PSVita don't they stick out the top? if so seems like they would be easy to break. having to use an adapter like this, or hack the system to use an industry standard such as a USB flash drive is just piss poor design on Sony's part.

    • @chronossage
      @chronossage 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Commodorefan64 All the adaptors fit inside the game card slot with only a couple of the earlier versions sometimes requiring some sanding of the top corners of the adaptor to get the flap perfectly closed and only on the vita slim model. As for price you could buy and official 64gb memory card for a hundred dollars or more. But I bought a 256gb SD card, and 2 adaptors for the same price. And to be perfectly honest one of my two adaptors didn't works from the get go but I got a refund and the one that works has been fine for months now. Also you said you wanted a pstv in your initial post, and you don't even need to worry about adaptors as that has a built in USB port. So you can use way cheaper thumb driver, or even hard drives on. You just have to be careful with hard drives as the USB port doesn't supply alot of power itself so you might want a hard drive with its own power brick, or which ones others have used successfully. Some people have pstv's with 1 or 2 terabytes for storage.
