Batwing fairing. I didn't notice much less buffeting than my stock shield of the same height. If anything it was a higher pitch buffetting. I think the key is the vent to relieve the air pressure difference... I wish you'd have gone out on the interstate to 75 or 80mph, and then do your review to see if you felt any difference with the vent open vs closed.. I mean, I don't get any buffetting at low speeds under 60 even with the stock shield. The one big difference I did notice is, bugs collect a lot more on the curve section of the windshield which is kind of annoying. But since I in my natural riding position, I'm not looking through the windshield, rather several inches over the top of it. I also noticed, when riding in a gusty 20mph cross wind, this clear view tended to effect the steering more. I felt I needed a tighter grip on the handlebars. This would be a non factor on the shark fairing thats connected to the frame instead of the batwing connected to the forks. Over all, the Clear view was slightly less buffetting, but worse with bug splatter, and high speed steering control. Ended up putting my stock windshield back on. I wish I'd bought the shield with the vent, but then again, having to clean the bugs out of the vent might have been a pain in the ass
The vent really helps a lot with the back pressure on the passenger. I have a lower non-vented on my Road Glide ( video coming soon), and it really pushes the air up high and over me.
I just put a new shield on mine as well (Freedom). With the acrylic shields you need to be much more gentle when cleaning or it won't take long for it to be covered in scratches. I learned this quite a few years ago with previous shields. With a re-curve design I dropped from my 10" Wind Splitter down to a 9" and probably could have gone down to an 8". With the 9" on the highway I have no air hitting the top vent on my helmet and I am a bit over 6' tall. I need to almost lift my butt off of the seat before the top of my helmet is high enough for air to start coming into the vent.
The audio does sound a hell of a lot smoother! I really like the vent that's a great position and design for it. How satisfying was taking off the plastic 😁😁 Sounds like Harley should just fit them as standard. Very nice video Bry :)
I am beyond happy with it! The sound from the speakers is so much louder as well. I keep tell people paying for the bike is the down payment for all the cool parts you have to add to make it your own.
Looks like I’m late to the party….was watching your newest windshield video and that brought me to this. How is that vent in the shield? I love the wind blocking that a touring bike brings but dayum, those hot days can be brutal. How helpful do you find it or is it more for wind buffeting? Great videos, thanks again!
I love the vent it really in game changer. Brining in the air via the vent is great to give you that balance between protection from the air and ventilation
First, I liked the HD 10” wind splitter. I just wish HD would make it in a darker tint. I like the screen to match the lower deflectors. This is why I went screen shopping. If HD made a dark tint 10” wind splitter, I probably wouldn’t be having this discussion. I see well over it as like to feel some wind in my face. (Major disadvantage in heavy rain at highway speeds). After 200 miles today with the Clearview sculpted, medium, dark tint screen (w/o vent) on a 19 Ultra Limited, I think they are similar in function. That said, I think the wings on the wind splitter are more effective as they are larger and wider than the clearview. I will take a guess and say the GT probably blocks more wind than the sculpted. The Clearview is way more stable, doesn’t budge and no more “creaking” when hitting bumps and potholes. I also love that there is no distortion whatsoever with the clearview unlike the top of the wind splitter. For a properly fit screen, I would probably need 2 inches higher, but I wanted dark tint, still be able to ride at night, and again I like to feel the wind on my face. I am happy with the clearview, but its basically a thicker, smaller wing, non distorted wind splitter. I wish the wings were larger. However, I didn’t find myself increasing music volume any louder than normal. Well thats it in a nut shell.
@@BryTheBiker Bry...how tall is the shield and how tall are you? I want Maximum protection and still be able to look over the shield when I ride. 2011 Ultra Classic Limited Thanks
@@gregcouch158 I am about 6'2 ish in boots with a 32' inseam so my body is tall. I also run a Harley Hammock seat that adds about 1 to 1 1/2 vs the stock seat. I got the Xl screen. I could have gone XXL but I wanted to give myself a bit more room to see over. I would call Clearview and speak to Craig or one of his team members. Please tell them I sent you if you call. If you have any other questions. please let me know. Also thank you for taking the time to sub!
Good review on the shield. Looks like good height.
Thanks! Really happy with the wind protection it provides but still being able to have a clear view of the road.

Very good review! Looks good wanted to see the shield as a walk around when you removed the plastic!
I missed doing that. I want to do a follow up review on it after I get a trip in and will be sure to do that. As always thanks for watching!

I really like how the recurve allows you to have a smaller shield but covers higher.

@@BryTheBiker Thank you! Always appreciate you responding to all the questions you get….even on a two year old video!!
Looks good. Nice review.
Thanks for watching! Really happy with how it looks as well as it performs.
Do you know if they make these for the older Electra Glide? I haven't been able to find one
I would give them a call at 800-798-6089 and tell them I sent you. They are great folks and will get you taken care of.
What size and make are your bars? Thanks!
Fat Bagger Inc 12”
Did this cut down helmet buffeting?
Yes , a lot and the vent helps even more for the passenger getting back pressure
Is your shield light gray or smoked? Have you noticed any marks from the rubber edges on the fairing?
This is light gray. I not found there to be any rubbing.
Thanks. I just installed mine. I was wondering about the edges. Medium Sculpted recurve in dark gray. 200 mile ride tomorrow.
Let me know how you make out. This Thursday video will be my review on the sculpture version. Be interesting to hear how you like it!

How tall are you? I’m 6’4” and looking at what size to get.
6’2 and I run a hammock seat. The shield is an XL. I would give clearview a call they are great about getting you the right one.
I like my freedom shield, but that looks nice.
+Wes Merritt I really like it. Made highway rides a lot more relaxing.

Hi, nice review and could you please tell me what height you ordered?
This is the Xl size in Gt width and has the recurve. From the on/off switch it measures 19″ high. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Always good to have a happy wife post-purchase of bike or camera gear! 😂
:-) the happier she is the more miles we can put down so it’s a win win :-)
Loooooks great!!
Thanks very happy with it!
