In the original Journey to the West story WuKong obtained the "staff" from the treasure vault of The Dragon Emperor of the Eastern Seas. The magical staff is capable of size shifting and served as a structural pillar to the treasure room and is said to weigh 17500 lbs. After obtaining the staff, WuKong shrunk it down from its original giant pillar size to the size of a sawing needle so Wukong can tuck the shrunken staff behind his ear for ease of carriage.
Yeah and he took the pillar after the dragons let him try like mythical weapons and he was just like “nah, pillar”
In the last scene, that will be Buddha punishing him for his behavior right, wukong is rebelious.

And, there is a mythical story that at some point in time, Hanuman travelled from India to the direction of China and after that Sun Wukong got famous. so maybe Sun wukong and Hanuman are the same person. maybe they are just myths. who knows.

@@max55436 No, conduction in fluids and conduction in solid/metals is very different. Metallic conduction is due to the movement of electrons in the metal while fluids/solutions conduction is because of ions.

Yelllow Brow Demon a student of one of the many Buddhas, he stole some powerful artifacts and gather a host of demons in a region to trick WuKong and his master as the final destination of their pilgrimage. The monologue in the video is YBD pointing out the hypocrisy of Buddhism.
@@6thscaleops Interesting. Never seen that character in Japanese stories. In Japanese, a Ghost would be 幽霊. I think the category of apparitions is called 怪物 but I could be wrong. It could be something else like 霊物. 鬼 in Japanese is related to Oni and their demonic nature. It's only used to describe anything Oni or Oni-like evil. 吸血鬼 is Vampire, for example and 鬼神 is Evil God or Spirit. There's other examples too.

Science fact: water does conduct electricity because the inpurity in it, so water contains "free ions", pure water is relatively bad conductor. Ice, on their other hand, contain much less free ions, cause it's form, so ice also a bad conductor. And how metal conduct electricity is another story: metal are rich of free electrons, unlike ions, electrons are way much smaller and way easy to move, so as both of ice and metal are solid, metal still a good conductor. By the way, I'm major in chemistry

@@max55436 not exactly, water need free ions to conducted electricity, doesn't have to be salt or metal element, like HCl or H2SO4, this kind of substance will be also ionized when they dissolve in water, and conduct electricity.

the ending line in chinese (斗罢艰险又出发) means: After fighting hard and dangerous and set off again (thx to google translate.. i can't do this shit...), which is actually a part of the lyrics of the original song of the famous tv drama 'journey to the west' in 1986, you can feel the nostalgia and special emotion bondings there for those chinese audiences born in 80s. and thanks for your reaction :) we all pray that it wont disappoint us when it officially released...

It comes from a place in the 56th chapter of the original Journey to the West. Most of the scenes in this preview are also based mainly here. But this Birdhead god's attitude is obviously indifferent to the other in comparison with the 13-minute version, and even advises the monkey to stay on track and not resist to gods. )

I guess that shadow element is shown when you perform a perfect dodge and also you get a power orb thing in the right bottom screen HUB, maybe you can use that orb to perform special moves or something

This game is stunning! I'm sooo excited to get this soon. The world and mythology looks incredible.
The Monkey King has a long history and has had a bunch of shows/movies based on him i remember watching an old show of his back in the 90's, we even had one with Jet Li playing as him, i think the movie was called the Forbidden West or something?, i wont pretend to be all knowledgeable but i remember that he was sort of a trickster god but generally good guy, i just hope his nimbus cloud will be in the game.
You also mentioned it reminds you of Dragonball, they for sure used Wukong as a reference for the Saiyans.

Monkey king is more than just a trickster, if you read the lore you will understand the monkey king is a chaotic neutral being that are against godly heaven realm and demon realm (if you interested just read Journey to the west which this game based of)

The game based straight from the 16th century book of "Journey to the west" aka Xī Yóu Jì 西遊記 during the Ming Dynasty. All creatures and entities also part of that, included the white dragon, lizard creature, the black bear, and the other strange creatures,. And the "Journey to the west" story are related deep with Buddhism. Of course you haven't see them, because the TV series version and Movie version has not even cover all contents from the book yet. Mostly using the easiest part from the book.
P.S : Dragon Ball Z actually took inspiration from "Journey to the west" , the retractable staffs skills originally belongs to Sun Wukong's Journey to the West.
So I see that this is the continued progress of the Game Science tech demo (Chinese company) shown back in August 2020 here on TH-cam that took the gaming scene by surprise. I had no idea it was in development this whole time, which I guess one solid year has passed, so that's not surprising at all.

to be extra sciencey. Pure water with no minerals in it will not conduct electricity. The only reason water conducts electricity is because most water is not pure.
Ice should also conduct electricity if it has other ionic impurities in it, because water itself does not conduct electricity but the ionic impurities in the water do the conduction so more salty the water harder the electrocution.
Therefore as ice is not dense enough to hold back the ions the ions will be free to move and thus conduct electricity.

I'm by no means full familiar with chinese or journey to the west legends and mythology the only source or media i've ever known are from the old JTTW tv series. But i as an asian specifically southeast asian feel right at home seeing these crazy creatures and deity comes to live in video game settings. It's so refreshing and exciting.

Western culture and media has only scratched the surface of Wukong, a lot of their games has the character but only with his typical and more popular abilities, shown poorly. This is where Wukong is truly done properly, and of course by China, and that will popularise chinese mythology.
Alcohol and hallucinogens can help some people get fragmentary inspiration, but complete and logical fantasy art needs time and inheritance.

The reason why you think of Goku is because Toriyama love Chinese mythology so that's why everything in Dragon Ball Z looks Chinese rather than Japanese. And why he based the characters and stuff off of Wukong Goku wouldn't even exist probably if it wasn't for Wukong. But yes this game needs Variety in the attacks because Sun Wukong can do so much, it would be an insult to the mythological character if they don't do it

pure water is not good cobductor of electricity. if u remember school days were use salt water n blades to see electricity. thats it salt sodium which is negative n water positive both ions exchange hence electricity conducts. which ice lacks. both needs to be dissolved. n sodium is a metal which has electron or negative ions naturally.

At 10:32 when he says Buddha said this blah blah blah... 放屁... subtitles says "heed my words." That actually literally translates to "fart" and what he really means overall in that sentence is "In my opinion, whatever he's (Buddha) talking about, is shite." or the direct translation, "I say, all fart."
I really hope this is actual gameplay... after Cyberpunk.... I don't dare to get my hopes up anymore.

His name come from Buddhism, Buddhism believe everything is changing, moving, so normal people cant get real / basic world. We need to learn to understand the real / basic world wiht your real spirit ( heart) .
Speaking about the creativity and inspiration, this game draws heavily from the 17th century classic Journey to the West, which make sense because that is where Sun Wukong manifested in a written work. So if you haven't read the novel like me, then you will be missing a lot of key details without people pointing it out to you...like that black bear is the final boss for Blackwind mountain region in the first trailer. Also how this Yellow-Eyebrow demon (pretending to be Maitreya, the Future Buddha), who voiced the entire narration of this trailer, was one of the few demons that beat/captured Wukong with his magic weapon (the Cymbal wedged into the mountain last scene).
Also it would be not uncommon for Chinese team to draw inspirations like creature designs from Shanhaijing or folklores.

Actually, there was a myth about a superpower monkey recorded in Chinese classics text (400 BC) named: 山海经 (Classic of Mountains and Seas). And in the historical record, there was a real monk named Sun Wu Kong in Tang Dynasty.

Monkey is supposed to be great at fighting he defeated the entire heaven , so they got inspired from Bruce Lee's voice and assumed that monkey King would sound like him and and he reminds of you DBZ cause Goku is the exact imitation of monkey King from that time in journey to the west series , the Gokus staf , cloud and the giant ape transformation every thing is taken from journey to west story of monkey King .
All the backgrounds and scenes, as well as narratives and related music, can be traced back to Chinese mythology and related records. These seem like real history. I am looking forward to these and hope that players from other countries can learn about the historical myths behind them if they are interested.
