I discovered him in 1981 when I was 27 and frustrated for not accomplishing my dreams. After a daily listening to him, a few tapes given to me from older mentors at work, I began to do what I thought it was impossible. Become an artist painter. By the end of 1982 I began to paint non stop and by the Summer of 1983 I had scored my first art show in Soho , New york at the prime time of their art revival in history. I quit my job after a show in 1984, and I moved to Paris where I lived for ten years, Those were dreams of mine...I fell a lot in between the years, and I am still recovering from some chaos again, and here we go again!, I salute Mr Nightingale!

I used to listen to him on his show "Our Changing World" on radio in Jamaica as a child. Instinctively, I realised that he was saying something important. I don't remember anything specific, but I remember trying to catch the broadcast every night. I was probably the only person in the country who was paying attention because I remember asking for printed copies of the broadcast and after a few weeks of doing that they took the show off the air. :o( I have always thought that I called attention to the fact that the listenership was limited.

I find it ironic to think that this kind of advice has been out there for decades and yet we continue to have so many problems in this life. I just don't understand why so many people remain ignorant of these ideas.
People fail to use their minds to create the life they want. Instead, there's a passive tendency to allow circumstances to dictate outcomes. Being intentional on how to think enables dreams to become reality.

I find it very insightful to listen to a man who has built up his knowledge by reading books and talking to people rather than by browsing social media et al - there was no such thing by that time :-) There is this special "sincerity" in his words, not only because his tone of voice which is clearly trained on sounding like fatherly advice. # 9 really struck me: 92% needless worries, wow - but so true! I have established a similar routine like his suggestion # 3, will see if his concept works even better #bta3
Thank you Evan! I do love Earl Nightingale. What a voice! The tip that resonated with me most was the "Don't follow the follower". I have never heard/thought of that before; very powerful. Have mentors, look up to those who are successful in your field, but be careful who you choose and don't reciprocate everything they do. I also loved the camouflage thing. How animals can blend in with their environment, where as we can make our environment blend in/change for us. Amazing.

Watching my son, I've realised how much time many people spend thinking about how they can work less- have a day off, have a holiday, go home early etc. I have found a job where I would 'work' every minute of every day if I could. We are blessed if we are able to have a job, many people don't. I have been able to help so many less fortunate people and for that I am very grateful. Think about 'less' you will get less. Think about 'more' you will have more. :)

Nice goal of getting to a million subscribers! All the best with that! I share your videos with my coworkers regularly. I'm trying to shift all of us. I've promised myself that none of us will be in the same job in five years' time. We will all have received at least one promotion/completed a degree/begun a business... somehow moved ahead in life. Listening to your videos and to those of others that I find here on TH-cam from time to time is helping to shift our mindset. I am gratified, personally, by how much my career has moved in the past two years. It has surpassed even my own wildest dreams.

I find it very insightful to listen to a man who has built up his knowledge by reading books and talking to people rather than by browsing social media et al - there was no such thing by that time :-) There is this special "sincerity" in his words, not only because his tone of voice which is clearly trained on sounding like fatherly advice.

The tip that resonated with me most was the "Don't follow the follower". I have never heard/thought of that before; very powerful. Have mentors, look up to those who are successful in your field, but be careful who you choose and don't reciprocate everything they do.
I also loved the camouflage thing. How animals can blend in with their environment, where as we can make our environment blend in/change for us. Amazing.
Reciprocate wasn't the right word. Don't imitate them...

Watching my son, I've realised how much time many people spend thinking about how they can work less- have a day off, have a holiday, go home early etc. I have found a job where I would 'work' every minute of every day if I could. We are blessed if we are able to have a job, many people don't. I have been able to help so many less fortunate people and for that I am very grateful. Think about 'less' you will get less. Think about 'more' you will have more. :)

I've promised myself that none of us will be in the same job in five years' time. We will all have received at least one promotion/completed a degree/begun a business... somehow moved ahead in life.
