There is this category of touring cars in Australia, V8 Supercars and i love their Q3 quali session. Its called Top 10 shootout, one car at the time, one lap only. Makes top 10 so exciting every race.

A similar format was used in F1 from 2003 to 2005

@@albertotroisi4961 yeah I remembered after looking into it. The way I see it, what's the point if you are technological pinnacle of motor sport if it's boring. And how do we define what is, wouldn't it be formula E because they are actually the future and where will F1 be once there is no more petrol, it either goes electric or disappears or some new kind of fuel gets invented. My point is I guess F1 owners have lots to think about. Im not a huge fan of hybrid, it's either one or the other..... I don't know lol

I don't see it working. They'd be better just giving more coverage to Formula 2 if they want to create more interest in racing on Saturday

Casual viewers are not interested in Formula 2, that's why the push is for the F1 drivers to be more time on track

  • @eIucidate

I got sick and tired of explaining to commenters in other TH-cam videos that the "reverse grid" concept involved the cars being in reverse CHAMPIONSHIP order for the Saturday sprint race, the final result of which then defines the starting grid for the Sunday race. There is no separate qualy session. That would be immensely stupid - cars would go slow deliberately.
Hey ho, the laity can be expected to be ignorant, but for a company who is destined to one day announce "Motorsport Network Announces Acquisition of Formula One", the faux pas at 1:13 is unforgivable. 🤦🤦🤦

If they run with GP2 cars and make it a competition of driver talent I will be very excited otherwise it is just an extra event at some races where the race will be driven cautiously and wouldn't extract the most out of the extra event.

  • @cjcarrizo42
    @cjcarrizo42 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I don't understand reverse grids.
If the slowest cars go first, what would stop Mercedes & co. from nerfing in quali in order to be on pole on Sunday?

Reverse points grid should be for the sprints only. Make the sprint just long enough to have 1 stop and give 8,7,6,5,4,,3,2,1 points for 1st-8th.
Shorten the Sunday race a bit and take off 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 points for positions 1st-8th.
    Tada!!!

So super cross runs a similar thing in which they have 2 short races before the main event.
However the way that works there is they have like 44 riders and they got 22 riders on each race.
They have qualifyings, once they go past that, they have a short race to get the best 12 riders of that race, then they do another short race to get the other best riders of that group.
Once they have the best of both riders, they make the main event with them.
It’s pretty entertaining to watch, you get 3 races in total.
Maybe if they did 10 f1 drivers in one sprint race and then another sprint race and then get the best of best.
    Idk

Keep the traditional qualifying & practices, but add another 6 minutes for any red flag incident.
If F1 wants a level playing field with every team being contenders for the Championships, ... then all they have to do is have Supplier Teams( Eg Ferrari, Merc, Redbull, Alpine) supplying stock F1 cars to customer teams. There are no budget or test limitations placed on the Supplier teams developing the stock competition cars. The Supplier teams can retain all test data for the stock cars they supply, but all customer teams must provide their supplier with their test data.
McClaren & Aston Martin will actually have the same car as Mercedez Alfa Romeo will have the same Ferrari car. And the teams with the same car ... will work together to improve it, but with the Supplier team still maintaining a slight advantage being the designer and with unlimited budget & testing. Customer teams will also be able to test at will, but all test data must be given to the Supplier team.

Bad idea : more invest in Parts, tires end up in cost. This is contra the cost cap. Important aspect is also the falsification of the GP points with the points out of sprint qualifying/races. Sprint world champion versus the GP champion?!

the sprint race is an import from NASCAR . Nascars are cheap tin boxes that you can repair with a sledgehammer and beartape. Formula one cars are carbon fiber, drivers like the Torpedo and rookies could ruin the other top teams. Stop the yanks taking over, they are just about money

    • @bear1245

It was hard enough already to watch qualification and the race on 2 different days and now they just add another day to it.. I'm gonna miss more sessions now, great and thanks.. I'd prefer quality over quantity..
