It must be exciting and scary to take that next big step but I'm so happy for you because I know you'll make a success out of that too. And it was great to hear you say avoid consignment because I almost agreed to a consignment situation last week but it fell through, now instead of feeling disappointed I feel like I dodged a bullet lol. Thanks Carmen

Thank you Carmen for sharing your knowledge and journey with us. I have been a hobbyist soaper for the last six years and love it! If you have the time or have made a previous video on how you got started making soap, I would love to hear about it. All the best to you!! Congrats on your expansion.

Congratulations Carmen. I wish you all the best, you are truly an inspiration and you're not selfish with your knowledge. I started making soap 1 year ago, been doing Alot of "research & development" I am currently going through what you talked about regarding selling wholesale. I am about to meet with 2 different shop owners who will be asking what's my wholsale price. I am currently making 2lb loafs (10 bars) what do you sell yours at wholesale and what do they usually retail for? Thank-you!. p.s. my husband still laughs at the video you did about your order on the porch lol. the 700 billion $$ one omg.

Some people will say wholesale should be 50% of retail but I don’t find that to be true for small businesses. Our profit margins are so different than mass manufacturing.
Currently my retail soaps are $8 ea my wholesale is $5 ea. I really really should go up on my price but like most of us hand made so soapers… I hate going up on my price but the costs of supplies have gone up so much over the past year.
I’ll do a video on this topic 😊

Yes I agree shop around at banks. That appraisal fee should only be 500.00 at the most, I guess it depends on where you live I guess. Good video!!😘

@@agirlagoat1193 I am following for a while, but 1 time commenting. I would like to know, where you bought it your roller printer, I like it a lot, simple and very fine, indeed. Otherwise, I support you, because you are health professional as me, I am Pharmacist, with Master and Ph D in Cosmetology and skin expertise, so from so many out there, I can honestly see, what a nice quality surface on top. All the best for you you and husband on this great journey, I am not selling, just formulating for our family!

My first wholesale deal was AWFUL but I did consignment once and it went very well until the store up and closed it’s doors with no warning and was like come get your stuff! However it was in an area where we were able to mark up our normal prices enough that it covered most of the rates.

Congratulations on future growth and retail expansion! Wooohoo, I'm so excited for you! Hoping the weather works out for you this weekend. Quick question for anyone: Many friends and family have asked to buy my soaps instead of buying from local green markets. I wish I was in the position to give everything away for free - but I cannot afford to do that. What is the proper "maker" etiquette of selling to friends and extended family? I'm a small batch hobbyist and I would love to recoup the cost of product but feel terrible about charging ANYTHING. And this will quickly deplete my inventory and put me out of (potential) business. I'm about 4 weeks away from launching my website. Please ... any advice is welcome! Also, I have to apply about 6 months in advance to set up a booth at our local farmer's markets. Ugh. ETA: Oh and I have to pre-pay for the entire season rain or shine, which is over $2k, so I am not that exited about risking so much just starting out.
