Nicely done. My 2200 has a throw length like an old dump truck. This looks much cleaner. Update: I run a bench seat and this was going to be too short. The part is now stashed for later where I may repurpose it.
@@mariomgf3106 I went to Galpin Mazda (Van Nuys, CA) and the dust boot in question was available. I'm finding miscellaneous pieces still on the shelves. Wish I had the part number, but I'm a pack rat and the wrapper is either buried or thrown away. The parts guy showed me a diagram and I selected the part. These may be available via your local parts house. I just replaced my turn signal switch assembly and it was available via auto parts store, but I got the OEM from Mazda for a few dollars more.
I have that issue of it going past reverse once in a while, I never tried a fix, just got used to it. I actually plan to fabricate a shifter gate, this way cant accidentally push past.
Ah ok. I haven't tried trimming the white washer yet so that might be the difference. I'll try again without the bottom washer just to see how it fits. I saw a video where a guy cut and extended the bottom ball 10mm longer and seemed to have no issues
@@faustini69 you HAVE TO trim the nylon washer or extended the lower section, if not the lower ball wont sit in the right place, then for sure itll pop out.
Oh man, I have zero clue. Its just a shifter from Amazon, theyre cheap, cant see harm in trying. Honestly, thats why I tried it, cheap, no loss if it didnt work.

Did you ever install it? Have a bench seat and wanting to install it aswell
@@joelibanez6991
Yes. Way too short for my purposes. Went with stock shift lever, fresh bushings and short handle (Momo).
How was the install? Straight forward? Did you have to cut that plastic ring like he did?
Did you ever install? You could just use a shifter extension, Im using an extension as well, it was just too damn short.
I've got a bench seat. I'm just gonna purchase a bent extension. Raise the height and angles the knob back towards the seat.
Installing it all tonight
some solid throws you got there, i like the sound it makes through the shifts...
great vid - curious about the new kit not using any sort of rubber boot to protect that new bushing
Yeah seems odd, I guess one could always make a boot. I'll see what I can conjure up.
I just found the original boot/kit from Mazda. Will let you know how it fits.
@@eddiebones20 can you send me more info about oem item?
