The thing about Huey is he's not unfamiliar with the show, at all, in fact he even hosted it once! I might just be projecting a little but I personally felt he was picking up on the show's quality going downhill. To me the show eventually reached a point where it started to gradually lose its punkish edge. Now, I'm not one of those "ermehgerd it went woke" saps; Buzzcocks could be fucking hilarious without breaking any political correctness boundaries so the idea that they _needed_ to be offensive is preposterous. Even during the days of Mark Lamarr. I'm not saying I minded it when they were offensive, just that they never needed to be in the early days to be hilarious (I still got a laugh out of Bradley Walsh's antics when he was a guest on the show during Mark Lamarr's run, and Brad's about as innocent as you can get). But yeah, somewhere between Amstell leaving and Rhod Gilbert taking over as permanent host the show just felt...flat and strangely artificial and I can't help wondering if Huey was picking up on this.....either that or he's just bitter that nobody listens to Fun Loving Criminals anymore. The thing that got me was his whole "I've been on the show 9 times and I'm just tired"....I want to believe what I wrote above is true but at the same time nobody was holding the dude at gunpoint, he could've quietly left whenever he felt like it; pulled a sickie, but instead he goes full blown diva.
