I had to come listen to this in honor of Scott's passing. One of the premier examples of his bass playing helping a song spring to life in F&F hands. He brought a wonderful light to this supremo band. RIP.

Not one Jackson Browne fan on the patio that day, probably don’t even know who he is. That’s ok, it sounds GREAT, thanks for covering one of my favorite JB songs.
I just can't help wondering if the folks sitting out on that patio eating dinner had any idea at all what greatness was performing for them. What quality in the video and the recording as well. Atlanta--you've got a gem there.
I had a very good friend Jeff who passed away a couple of years ago. He was a piano tuner to many bands of the 70s including Fleetwood Mac, Linda Ronstadt, Prince to name a few. But Jeff always told me that his favorite times in the business involved touring with Jackson Browne. Oh the great stories he would tell. Jeff hadn't heard of Foxes and Fossils but when I played this F&F cover of "Doctor My Eyes" for him on my laptop before he passed away, his smile was wide and he said "Wow, these guys are so good.... JB would definitely approve". I'm sure he does Jeff. RIP my friend.
Imagine if there were no internet or TH-cam. You’d never have a chance to see all of these performances. I feel lucky just to have a chance to view these videos.

All credits to Jackson Browne for creating this fine song, but in my view none of his record or live renditions is as spectacularly good as this one by Foxes and Fossils. Bravo!
I give the 1978 live version (see Electricchris1 channel) a very slight edge only because of David Lindley's amazing slide guitar playing.But thats a 'concert version'.Rosemary Butler and Doug Haywood a little off on the tricky harmony. Sammie and Maggie nailed it like it was nothing and as always blended beautifully. I watched Leland Sklar play the bass line on his channel. Gives you an idea of the level of talent Scott was at.
Truth is strange. One of the best and honest bands in the world playing in parking lots and on roadsides. Jackson Browne would be proud of you.

Yes but they seem to be totally happy doing it and without all of the problems and challenges with addiction and other maladies that destroy so many lives and are so prevalent among rock stars. More power to them.
It was always a hobby band for the girls to sing in a few times a year. The Mustangs was Tim's main band that traveled a bit in the southeast and played year around.
The bass is absolutely spot on.

@@russellmclatchey4162 Watch their "Telling Me Lies" video to see each of the three solo. Most of the videos since 2019 feature all three. Up to 2014 featured Sammie and Maggie, Sammie and Chase from 2015-2017.

The more I hear F&F the more I go crazy. This is a group of incredibly talented musicians and vocalists that apparently can sing and play virtually ANYTHING and have it sound on point ! Keep it coming ladies and gentlemen !

I've thought about this F&F song for years.
The musicianship is just so tight. The vocals are incredible. The recording is studio quality. Overall amazing.
I feel sorry for the kids growing up on a diet of rap and hip hop. That will be the legacy of their generation. I'm SO glad this music was what I grew up on, and there is such an excellent band as F&F to keep it fresh. Thanks.

Toby and Scott carry this song so well, every detail reproduced to perfection. Wow! The expressions of the ever-youthful singers are freewheeling as they usually are at this Twisted Taco Venue. Good skillful singing by Tim and good drum timing by Johnny.
As much as we all love the foxes( and face it we do) no one would have any idea who F&F was if those fossils couldn't lay it down like they do. So, here's to the Fossils. You guys rock. Even though this is one of the oldest videos, I come back to it often because it's one of the best.

Really love the guitarist. Just a Gibson Les Paul and an amp, no fancy signal processing, just good, solid, no-frills, tasteful, skillful, well-modulated guitar work.
I feel exactly the same. There are some very famous players out there who rely on complex, highly expensive equipment to get a good sound,. Yes, I'm talking to you, Edge, These folks simply rely on talent,.
Looks like a Gibson Nighthawk.
Yeah, it doesn't appear to have a curved top. It's as bright as a Stratocaster, but with better low end. You gotta love those heavy Gibson guitars. They are well worth the sore shoulders.

The sound man is bandleader Tim Purcell (on lead vocal and keys here). He records off the sound board and does his magic tweaking mix and . . . we get to listen to this! Amazing.
There is no disputing the brilliant, and gorgeous, vocal performances of “the Foxes” and the older “Fossils” in this world class band. I’m particularly impressed with the cat doing the lead guitar work. Every player in the band deserves monumental accolades, but that guitarist is a true master of his instrument - and simply brilliant. As usual I’m eternally grateful you’re sharing these performances. Thank you.

I was wondering, that no one responded to the cover of "When You Say Nothing At All" (same performance). The same lead guitar is outstanding there as well.
Absolutely phenomenal talent in every voice and on every instrument -- true to the original in spirit, performed so easily! It wasn't until maybe the third time I heard this, I realized what great drumming was happening -- listening to the snare hit placements, fills, and pocket drumming! Like I said, absolutely phenomenal talent in every voice and on every instrument! Piano, guitar, bass, drums, vocals -- all amazing!

This is one of my favorite songs by Jackson Browne. Tim nails the vocals/keyboards, the harmony is spot on, and the drums are excellent, especially on the second verse - such discipline. Everyone is awesome on this cover, but I wanted to point out the things that really clicked for me. And when Sammie looks back at Dad - priceless!

These guys are so worthy. I often wonder how many of these greats bands live with their day jobs and not pursue fame to prove that worthiness. Then a friend of mine said not all great musicians seek fame as they have fortune with their present lives. And serenity, too.

I love this era in your story having sat in various local outlets and listened to local bands pounding out covers. You're better that that, and subsequent evolutions prove it. Traffic passing by and people climbing in and out of cars in the background, etc.

This video is one of my favourite 'finds' on TH-cam. The extraordinary juxtaposition of a supremely talented band playing outside a small restaurant by the roadside, with onlooking diners having varying degrees of interest in the performance. Just amazing!

But since I’m a bass player I love to listen is a bass player is just playing along to his own beat. Our plays something near the original. You blew me away, Brother.

Was surprised to find out that Sammy is Tim’s daughter and how much the girls have grown. My daughter’s name is also Sammy. Well, it’s SAMANTHA, but we’ve called her “Sammy” ...hmm, basically since birth.
For some reason I connect with this group. Not sure if it’s the 70’s-80’s stuff. Or because I share the love of the same genres.
But, watching that DOCTOR MY EYES blew me away. Every piece of the group are well above your average band that does covers. I must’ve watched DOCTOR MY EYES at least 40 times since I’ve come across it. Jackson Browne is one of my all-time favorite musicians. Up there with the EAGLES, FLEETWOOD MAC, CHICAGO, ELO, BEACH BOYS ...

This song was one of the first I purchased as a young teenanger. This version is outstanding. The harmonies in this group are second to none. Wish they were in LA and not Atlanta

Just found these guys and gals and they superb . The fact that they can reproduce these songs LIVE and sound this good shows how good they are . doesnt hurt the girls are gorgeous and can sing like angels .
I CANNOT stop watching this video. This is one of the best covers I have heard of one of my favorite songs. Bass player is in the groove. Great guitar work and that young lady in the blue has got it all. Incredible voice, great harmony, stage presence and a killer smile.
