we will never again life in a high trust society. i remember sleeping with my window open on cool nights. i remember when you could expect someone to drop your wallet off at your house or mailbox if they found it somewhere. i remember being able to leave your car running when you went in the store and not worry it would be stolen..... the "good ol days"

This is genuinely one of the saddest things I've ever seen, people just don't realise how much cars mean to people.
This is how I explain it:
I first ask "How would you feel if a loved one dies" - they go "well yeah, but one is a piece of metal, the other is a person", to which I reply "on average, 2 people die on earth every single second, yet I don't see you pulling your hair out. You being sad has nothing to do with the fact that they're human and everything to do with the fact that they're your special human. Just like why I love my car has nothing to do with the fact that it's a car and everything to do with the fact that it's my special car"
I bought my first car ('84 Volvo 242 Turbo) and my dad drove it back from Cali to New Hampshire for me in 2001. I joined the military and drove it around the whole time. I blew the motor and it ended up sitting for 10 years making several moves. Over the last few years I've done a full rotisserie restoration and 1000hp LS swap. We both turn 40 this year. I've had it in my life more years than not. It's irreplaceable to me.
Makes me sad that California is such a shit hole this happens all the time!

Not on the exact same page but my dream car was wrecked by some girl in a Cadillac. Cop who responded was super biased and made the report on her end and didn't even ask me what happened. Seen her driving around town still like an asshole while my car was totaled. And I'm over here struggling to fix it while she just drives around carelessly. So the pain is real brother. Don't give up.
Had that happen to my gs430 same thing female hit my Rear quarter slid into a building vehicle totaled not paid a dime all cause insurance didn’t wanna do there job right and go after her insurance sadly

I know how you feel, brotha. In my teens, I decided to purchase a WRX once I was older. That was back in 2000. 2022 comes around. I'm debt free, financially stable, and the doors open. I purchased a Brand Spanking New 2022 Limited Red WRX with 4 miles on it. Right off the dealership sales floor. STI short shifter stock.
4 months later, 1 week after its 1st oil change. 3012 miles later, a GMC Sierra at 5 am on my way to work, T bones me and leaves me for dead. I was non responsive for 10 days. March 21,2024, marks 1 yr since the accident.
My 22 WRX Gone. 31k in damages. The car I dreamed of I only got to enjoy for 4 months.
Dude got away with murder. He got a ticket. That's it. No lawyer could do anything for me because I live in a no-fault state. The guy literally killed me. It's a miracle I'm alive today. He caused 31k in damages. Over 1 million dollars in hospital bills. Left me in a wheelchair. Almost paralyzed me for life. And he gets away with it. 0 accountability.
I'm happy to say that today I'm walking again. Due to therapy and rehab. I live a life of pain. My WRX was stick. So my left ankle was destroyed. Today, 2 plates and 15 screws later, I can't run, skip, jump, or leap yet. It'll take time for all that. My road to recovery will take time.
My dude, I totally understand the feeling of wanting something. Work day and night to obtain it. Blood, sweat, and tears. Finally, grasp it. And within seconds, it's all gone.
Now it's the uphill journey to get it all back. First, my health and abilities that we all take for granted. Walking, eating, taking a shower, swimming, fending for 1 self. I lost it all, yet 80% of it I gained in less than 1 year.
Possibly in 3 years, I'll get her back. Eventually, I will. That's what heavyweight fighters do. We win heavyweight fights.
In the near future, I'll have my WRX back. In the same way, you'll get your 240 back.

@beratsbuilds Life is about fighting. At least for me, it has always been a battle. I'm grateful for those individuals who never had to worry a day in their life. Unfortunately, there are some of us who woke up, and every day, we had to encounter a gang, someone trying to hold you up at gun point, your life constantly at risk, one way or another.
When you live such life, trust me, you have lots of dreams. Staying alive till 18. Making out the hood and becoming educated. Enough to reach the unreachable.
It really bothered me to listen to his story because I come from that life of struggle. Then, to actual amount to something in society, gain the status you work so hard for. Then the moment comes. Man, it's the Happiest day in the world.
Then some Scrub decided to steal that which you worked so hard for. We're talking about endless hours. All it takes is 1 irresponsible action. Then, that which you worked so hard for is Gone.
Then, the uphill battle starts again. Beratsbuilds, I highly appreciate the words of encouragement. I'll never stop fighting or dreaming big. Life is way too short to cry over that which has been lost.
Our character is tested daily. Life always challenges you in order to find out how much fight you have in you. Will your character break, or will it become stronger?
I had to fight to make it back. I thank God for giving me a second chance to live and be me. I'll continue fighting. I encourage everyone who's lost at something and suffered to continue moving forward.
Once you hit rock bottom. Up is the only way left.
No fault law is bullshit to me. I have only heard bad things to drivers who got hit, leaving the driver hurt and broken and the perpetrators running away scott free. What’s the purpose of no fault law anyway?
@nowiecoche I totally agree. I'm going to do my best to speak to the governor of this state. See if I can schedule a meeting to shine light on this issue. Just think of it. This guy literally killed me. If not for a machine breathing for me. I was a dead man. To the point that on day 6, they asked my family to brace themselves to make hard choices. Meaning unplug me. Thank goodness on day 7, I finally showed signs of brain activity. My sister saw the guy. She said all he had was a bump on his forehead. If not for (BCBS), Blue Cross Blue Shield, I would be well over 1 million dollars in debt. If not for my benefits, where would I be. No therapy, no funds for medication or appointments. I wouldn't have been seen by the best specialist. I would still be in a wheelchair. 2-4cm away from being paralyzed or crippled for life. Awful! Broken nose, jaw, c1 c6 fracture, 2 ribs fractures, punctured lung, 2 fractures wrists, 4 surgeries on my left leg, 2 plates, and 16 screws in my left leg. I literally live in pain. I'm still broken. I lost all my strength, grip, conditioning, stamina, endurance, etc. A hobbling wreck. That's my uphill battle. This has been my biggest challenge yet. Terrible. If I had enemies, I wouldn't wish it upon them. Worst experience of my life. However, I'm extremely fortunate, blessed, favored, to be alive.
Dammn I went through basically the exact same scenario in my early 20s I was a technician at a Lincoln dealership a customer traded in a c5 Corvette that only had 50k miles on it in 2015 I took it a couple days later roughly 5 or 6 months later tboned at an intersection woke up a day later, car was damn near split in half. Guy that called insurance company when I told I wasnt taking responsibility for nothing I didn't see a person police nothing, he told me you guys with these damn sports think you run shit. Smh only good thing that came was the manager over the used car department slipped a GAP insurance policy in with the financing without telling me because he knew 24yr old me would've turned it down. Crazy to hear that a story so similar happened to you. Took me a while to ever get back behind the wheel of a sports after my dream car almost became my coffin
Small world man, I live in Colorado but did some work in Bakersfield, Cali. I met some guys who were buddies with that Prius owner. You probably know this already, but it's rocking a Ford Barra engine now. I never knew he had a 1JZ in it before.
I just finished the video, I'm sorry for your loss brother. People suck... I have a 1985 300ZX I picked up for $300 from knocking a random door in New Mexico. I'm about 50 hours deep into rebuilding the engine. An immense amount of blood, sweat, and tears go into reviving these older cars that were once destined for a scrapyard. I don't know what I would do if someone stole my Z when it's all said and done. Money can buy back another car, but there is no replacement for that connection you built while building your car. I wish you the best man. All we can do is be the change we want to see in our society and hope for the best.
I remember my first car, it was nothing special but it was an 8th gen civic sedan lx, the paint was a beautiful silver, no damage to the paint, loved the car to death, it had 135k miles, driving back to school after i went to walmart to get a drink, came to a stoplight, bam, rear ended at a red light, she didn’t even say sorry, that’s what really made me upset, it would have cost me 5k in repairs, frame damage in the trunk area, i wanted to keep it but her stupid insurance said I couldn’t?! My car was also appraised at 7500 bucks, they only gave me 4k, I’d kill to have that car back man😭

Bro thank you for posting this it absolutely hit so deep with me because a few years back i had my dc2 teg type r clone stolen and still hasn't been recovered! The day it was stolen i completely gave up on the car scene tbh and bought a Silverado an been driving that since cause havin something taken in seconds i busted ass for months on along with those long months waiting for ror parts was such a slap across the face ro me an it totally killed ever wanting to build tuner car but whem i aaw you bouncing back 10x harder ! Straight gave me the motivation to try again only this time fix the things i hated and do it bigger and better this time! Literally instantly started cruising market place looking for another teg an i believe ive found the correct one meeting him later Today!! You gained a New life subscriber for sure thank you dude im actually Stoked for the future an outcome!! 💪💯👌🤙

I hate people man. It’s why I’m careful with my car and I don’t el even live in an area where it’s common but you never know. People are jealous or people just literally don’t care about who they hurt to get what they want. There’s a lot of great people in the world but there’s those few that are lurking around waiting to ruin someone’s passion. I wrecked my build that I spent 18 months working on every day. Best car I ever had. I lost it in 2003 in a head on collision - totalled. I pulled the driveline and bought another car like it and swapped it in. It wasn't the same, but there's no way in hell I'm gonna put my tools down...
Such a motivational story. That's real car passion and what truly separates the real from the fake. So many people have a nice garage and the time to wrench whenever they want to and to see someone go from the ground up and make such a rad car with nothing but your hands and hardwork on the side of a street makes it that much more impressive. I went through the same thing, but I live in Brazil, and cars here are incredibly more expensive. Since I lost mine (and found it scrapped) I planned and created a theft prevention system, unfortunately I can't share this, because the biggest asset of a system like this is just knowing how it works. In case everything goes wrong, there is a secondary system that is fatal, and this was the one that took me the most time to develop, as I had to think of all the possible variables to prevent it from shooting at me or my family.
This is why you should hook up your gps tracker to main car baterry to make sure the baterry in gps dont die in the worst moment like in this case. You are doing awesome work. Keep going and never give up!

Damn. I also had my truck stolen. Was happy building it. Recovered just the cab n chassis. Lil By Lil have been rebuilding it back. Just wish we had better laws for those who still from hard working people. 💪

I also wonder if he'd ever added mods like a kill switch or something that cuts off the gas pump. If he had the money to be putting that much into it he should've added mods that give thieves a hard time while also having maybe a tracking device of sort if he has to actually put his car outside. Like I know adding these mods doesn't necessarily guarantee his car will not get stolen again but it should give enough time to either know your car is getting stolen or make them give up eventually.

I feel your pain, my mom’s car got stolen it was a Acura RDX the whole bumper and the front was destroyed to the point you can see the medal frame of the bumper and only a bit of foam. You could only see one headlight the other on was gone and the left side was destroyed to the to the rear of it. The inside the air bag was popped and mostly all the parts were just ripped out. I only got the A-spec logo of the cause because the cars behind were parked in trees. We did spent a lot of money. My mom had night shifts so that’s where it was stolen. I’m just grateful that my mom didn’t try to stop them cause they had two guns. My family wasn’t sad we still enjoyed life. That car was really fast cause it had sport mode on it and another sport mode that makes it super fast I think it was called Sports XS mode. It was stolen June 19 and recovered on July 19 I’m sure. Thank you god for keeping my family safe.

Damn man! One of the craziest car story I’ve ever heard. My jaw literally dropped for a solid minute when I seen how hacked up the OG Silvia was. Good news is there’s plenty of cars out there n you can always build another one but better this time. You gained a subscriber here, excited to see the V2 build.

That is honestly disturbing. It is not losing the money, but the passion that went into this car. That is what hurts. Things have meaning, and that is what people that steal don‘t understand or think about.
Growing up my father used to to dump so much money into cars that he genuinely liked & there would always be a hater , he use to have 3 vw’s (mk2golf, mk3 cabrio & mk1 golf) one golf was hit while parked& totaled, they left the scene. The other golf was stolen & the cabrio kept getting the soft top cut & stuff stolen out of it. He stopped project cars all together. It sucks cause I remember the smile he use to have whenever something would come in the mail or he’d complete something on those cars. He’s still happy these days but I haven’t seen him smile like that since his project car days.

what you did to that 240 is what this hobby is all about!!! i saved a 79 foxbody for 3 boxes of stereo equipment (lightly used some new in box speakers etc) car sat for 15 yrs....it barely ran when i got it, rebuilt EVERYTHING! shes super reliable now!!!

ik it’s not as bad as your situation but i feel you. I built a 400cc motorcycle powered go kart. I spent hours and hours on it but one day, some ppl decided to break into my dad’s garage where it was stored and they just drove off with it. pretty sure they had already scoped it out since they bought the same amazon key to start it. Had a BMW 2L 320i N43 engine coupe. Just before the pandemic January I swapped it for a BMW 325i 3L fully spec’d coupe. What I loved was it came with a full OEM m3 body kit. But yes the engine didn’t work. Whole pandemic I sorted it perfect learnt so much. Spent ages on it. I remember my first sketchy drive too even recorded a vid.
Planned to save a put a v10, n55/n54 or even a v8 in it. It never ran 100% perfect but when I had it at its best no Christmas tree dash. 2days later someone hit into it wrote it off. I’m grown, but I even cried that day. The car symbolised time and effort and work hard.
All those years of time and money gone overnight and you kept your chin up. Inspirational, wishing you nothing but the best.

im thinking of getting a car to build up im 18 and depressed and if i do get the car im making sure that there is a detachable steering wheel i will make sure i have a tracker thats always charged because seeing this made me realise no one will ever stop stealing cars but yea glad you bounced back im just seeing this 2 months after you posted it

Some lady rear ended my Turbo E46 that I spent most of Highschool building- luckily I found a decent chassis for pretty cheap this time around (and the M50 turbo swap is going decently this time!).

Luckily she was found 3 days later and only needed 5K in repairs, but now she’s got 13K in upgrades.
