Hey Brandon, We're also having a cold front move through. It's going to get down to the mid 70's. Nice repair on the tailgate. I purchased a hydraulic dump trailer awhile back and someone put something they dragged out of the salt water in the bed. Rusted out the floor, some of the cross members and froze up the dump hinges. I got that job to look forward to. I'm replacing all the metal with 12 gauge box and plate. Stay warm.
Thats the way to do it! Then spray it with fluid film or some other rust proofing to make it last.
Great job, Brandon!. I agree that that whole bar should be replaced at some point. That is rusted internally. Did the best possible solution for now. Glad you got it done before the STORM!!!
Thanks buddy! Just in the nick of time! I got lucky!
Another great job! Brandon! Fast and easy! Thanks for sharing! Y’all be careful with the bad weather!
Thanks Rudy and same to you! It's supposed to be rainy here today
Nice job Brandon, good welds will hold long and not a bad idea to put a peace of flat iron on the inside of the tube. Good repair and hope he let you repair the rest what has to be done. Stay safe and have a great weekend.
Thanks Christian I appreciate it! He's a repeat business customer so I'm sure he will have me do more work in the future. I always try to take good care of my loyal customers.
Inspired by your past video about rebuilding your old utility trailer, I rebuilt my 43 year old utility trailer which was very badly rusted. I was able to salvage about 1/2 of the trailer, and in that process I discovered this treatment that contains phosphoric acid which neutralizes rust. I won't mention the name, because it might be deemed as spam, but it starts with the letters 'Osp...'. It really seems to be effective. So far, after 6 months, there is no rust bleeding through the paint.
Thats awesome! There is a lot of satisfaction taking on that type of project.
Always enjoy all the projects and videos Brandon! 👋👋
I appreciate that! Thank you!
I just got that 81/2 inch Evo saw based on your previous video using it, and I love it!!!! It cuts like a hot knife through butter!
I hate to say it but I feel like it cuts way faster and smoother than my big 14" saw and for 149 bucks how can you go wrong! The thing is a beast and it does bevel cuts too!
@@BrandonLundI used it today to do some 45° cuts, and it it soooo precise! They are damn near perfect!!!!😁👍
I've actually had a conversation with an Evolution rep and told him they could charge double for some of their stuff but I'm glad they don't. That 149 saw is probably the hottest deal I've seen in a while. I'm surprised they are selling it so low. It's quite a saw
Learning with every video you put out. Thx!
Glad to help! Thank you!
Good repair, Brandon! Love it!
Thanks man I appreciate it!
It is always hard to know how rusted steel is on the inside, I've had to replace all the side's of my car trailer, because it was cracking to often 😂,thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
Rust is horrible and it seems like one day everything is fine and the next it's disintegrating. Gotta love corrosive road salt. NOT! I hope you have a great week.
Nice repair Brandon!
Thanks Earl!
Great Job Brandon
Thank you! 😁
Nicely done my friend 👍😁
Thanks Dave! 👍
If it wasn't for rust, we would be out of work 😂😂😂 Nice one Brandon 👌🏻👌🏻 Stay safe with the storms
That’s very true!!! It’s bad in Colorado mountains with all salt and liquid melters
@@Goldwing1500rider 👍🏻👍🏻
I appreciate that Bazil! It makes it challenging for sure!
Great job
Thanks Todd!
You always do a great job and it sure did rust since you put the lift helpers on I didn't remember it looking that rusty before but great patch job on it
Thanks Roger! 👍
Quick fix till the weather breaks, he definitely needs more repairs and heavier metal for what he's using the trailer for. Good luck, stay safe and keep up the good videos. Fred.
Thanks Fred I appreciate it! I think he has a pretty heavy tractor that he loads up. I noticed while editing and after watching the final video that it looks like he has a crack on one of the supports at the back of the trialer right where the Gorilla lift is attached. I will have to let him know.
Nice work. Brandon. Curious as to why you didn't weld out the bottom length of the piece you placed on the inside of the tube. Any additional weld along that side would have tied things together even more.
This customer is lucky to have you to do the repairs on his equipment
Thanks man! It left a gap so I ennded up welding that inside piece to the top piece then closing it all up along the edge.
Good of you to fit that in for them before the storm. We need one of those Gorilla Lifts on our trailer.
Thanks man! I installed this Gorilla Lift for him earlier in the ear. I had never heard of it until he contacted me. As someone who has used these types of trailers all my life, I was amazed at how effortless it is. You could actually use just one on most trailers then sell the other online. His gate is really heavy and this had no problem lifting it. I think one would work but he wanted them both installed. If you get one, you wont be dissapointed.
I like that you used an inner plate for more strength… I would have drill a couple of hole or slot from the outer plate and weld them together to tie them together for more strength… nice quick work to get your customer back on the road
Thank you for watching and commenting Nelson 🙏
Alright, another job done well.
I appreciate that Scott! Thank you!
Very Nice Job Brother, i know its been a while since ive talked to you, going thru some crap. But i was back wat hing your videos and just wanted to say hi and Great job on that trailer fix. And Be careful with the Storm.
Its weird down here in S.E.Florida i think we are getting the last of quote/unquote cool weather, and Summer is knocking on our door.
Be safe and be Healthy
Thanks brother I appreciate you watching and whatever your dealing with I pray that you stay strong and healthy. Cheers brother! 🙏
@BrandonLund thank you my friend, I really appreciate you
Hope you don't have to deal with a shit ton of snow, my uncle lives in New Hampshire and he had a ton. God bless you my friend
God bless brother!
Ah! How destructive these N.E. roads are on lite trailers. The pot holes alone can clean out your axel. Plus Rust, rust, and more rust under the mud! 😖
Exactly. Rust em out with the road salt then the pit holes in the springs finishes them off. It's brutal.
Sure doesn’t take long to rust back there, I recalled you put the lift on. My golly whole gate rusted! Good patchwork though.
Yah its brutal here, especially if you don't make a habit to rinse off your stuff regularly and do undercoating. The salt they use has definitely gotten stronger over the years.
Not bad for an old man! Just kidding. Looks good! I have a trailer just like this one. I bought mine at good old tractor supply.
Hahahahaha I feel it too brother! I haven't really heard anything bad about those Tractor Supply Trailers. Are you liking yours?
Yes so far, my wife pulls it with her car since has a trailer mode for the transmission
Hey great video as always. I brought the evolution stand based on your recommendation. It is very nice but I have a problem with the side support, although I tighten it as much as it can go, it still have some lateral movement, can you suggest some way to minimize this?
You are going to have some movement because its a slip fit. As long as the top of your roller is level with the top of your saw, you're all set.
@@BrandonLund THANKS for the REPLY
Glad to help brother!
@@BrandonLund Hey I couldn't handle the play I was getting on the miter saw stand and l, 3d printed a shim that was 84 mm by 45 mm by 7.9 mm thick and now it is perfect. So if you have a 3 printer you can also do this and you will see the difference.
Nice idea!
Hey Brandon. Those bib overalls you are wearing.. just wondering what brand they are - Cheers.
Duluth. Super comfortable and they hold up great too
@@BrandonLund Thanks for the info Brandon & thanks for another great welding repair video from NZ.
Oh wow! Thank you!
It's been a month since I retired I'm missing welding already
Congratulations on your retirement! Sounds like you need to pick up a little hobby welder and start a little side gig at home. It's good for the body and mind. I find that everything is better when I'm working with my hands.
Aah. Rust from the roads.
What happened to your other evo miter saw?
I have 3. I have my new 8 1/2, the newest 14" miter and the standard 14". I hate to say it but that 8 1/2 is becoming my favorite.
I have a question and it is NOT to be criticizing, with that area all that internal rusting and "fish plating" any particular reason why you would not use weld-thru primer? I was just wondering if you had a reason not to use it..
That's a great idea. After seeing the condition of the underlying metal, this became a temporary solution to a bigger problem. It will fail elsewhere before it fails here. That support needs to be replaced at some point and I made my customer aware. If it was better structurally, I would have used weld through primer as you suggested. Great observation. I will likely do an upcoming video about this topic based on your comment. Not many people are aware this product exists.
What do you run your flex core on 110/220
This machine in the video is 120 only but I prefer 220.
@BrandonLund thanks alot
What's is a good sitting for exhaust pipes with flux core welder mig200 Machine ??????
Each machine is going to be a little different. Your best bet is most welders come with a chart on the door as a guide.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼😎
Thank you Max! 👍 I appreciate your long time support on the channel!
How much did you charge for that job?
He's a repeat customer so I cut him a break. $20 bucks to cover my materials and he threw me an extra $10.
That road salt does horrible things.
It's brutal!
