    Great work Brandon. Way better than it was when it was new from the factory.
    Only thought I had is that I think I would have started things in the middle with the come-along and began my welds there. Then, to the back of the trailer like you did it.
    I learn so much from you, love your work and videos.

      Great point! I could have welded a ring to the floor and pulled in a simular fashion in the middle, but to correct it, I would have to cut back the sides again to get to the structural metal. Usually when I try to do a little more, it ends up biting me LOL

    Looking good Brandon. Thanks for sharing with us. That rig has been rode hard and put away wet too many times. Even more bracing wouldn't save it much longer. Keep up the good work and do it your way so it's safer. Fred.

    Nice job Brandon, it's not easy to fix old rubbish and make it new. But you did your best to make it functional and better than it was. If it was your choice, you would have made the side walls new but that was not the question so you did what you did. Have a great Easter weekend and greetings from the Netherlands.

      Great work in a less than great situation, the use of mixed welding, stick and MiG is a good example for people to learn from. All to often people think I started with this style so that is what I have to use, also pointing out about flux for out doors was a good point to make. As always thanks for am excellent video.

    Have you ever use a wood pipe clamp…. It allows for a more fine adjustment compared to
    A come along…

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thats a great tip. I have used them but I don't have one. Your comment was actually my first concern because they don't have that fine adjustment like you mentioned.

  • @Rein_Ciarfella

    Thanks for the welding instruction.
    What is the purpose of placing short beads and then cleaning up after each one before going to the next one, instead of doing the entire length before cleaning up? You did this even after adjusting for heat. Just your habit to check quality often or some other reason?
    Thx!

    • @BrandonLund

      When the "keyhole" starts getting too big, from having my amperage a little too high, I will let it cool to help close it up and then I clean up the slag with the grinder to get rid of any contamination before I strike my next arc. Great question! Thin metal is hard to weld because the metal starts out with the right amperage but overheats quickly.

  • @PilotMcbride
    @PilotMcbride 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    That trailer was a commercial build? GEEZ!! Those who built it should be run out of business. Cheap and shoddy. From a distance it looks quite strong, but close up it is extremely shoddy, even amateurish. My bird sh!t welds would be stronger than the original welds.
    (Here it comes) Shoulda TIG’d it. 😂😂😂😂
    Good job Bran, thanks for posting.

      The white stuff is no good for you mate, too bloody cold. 😉
      We have an annual temp swing from -5C to +45C, no room for the white stuff 😂😂. From (fading) memory our lowest minimum since 1980 was about 5 or 6C and that was cold enough. Weather conditions blew the snow clouds up from our snow fields and dumped it up here and north to the mountains west of Brisbane. That was about 1982 or 3.
      Cheers ol’ mate

    What are you using for flux core? Brand wise

    • @BrandonLund
      @BrandonLund  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My usual go to is Lincoln Innershield, but for this project I'm burning up some Matheson self shielded that just happened to be spooled up on my mobile machine. Matheson is my next favorite so I keep both on hand.

      I haven't got with the customer yet to see if they want to add additional bracing, but to get it to what you see in the video - 2.5 hours @ $80/hr = $200.
