Nick is an absolute legend
800lbs for 27 years is pretty legendary.
He’s a genuine gentleman too
There's nothing more you can say about this. It's mythical.
Bro his deadlift-foot-placement is so strange, but the man just kills it. Def a legend.
He said in the video his first time was 1996, so doing it in 2023 actually makes it 28 years, which is even more impressive!
(Probably forgot to include the year 2000 in his quick mental maths)
The control Nick had on that 800Lb squat was next level. Im never getting under 800lbs, but the sheer fact we are both in our 50's gives me some drive to train harder.
I bet that control is a big reason why he's still able to do it and hasn't injured himself out of the game.
@@arthuradjamoglian2418 Big part of it I'm sure. Bouncing out of the hole probably isn't favorable at our age.
Half squat
Nick Best is an absolute legend and a solid, respectable inspiration for maintaining strength and vitality as you age.
100%
The eccentric on the 800 lb rep from Nick was insane! Legend Sir!
Reminds me of Nick Willis being able to go under 4 minutes in the mile for 20 years in a row. Actually insane how much longevity some athletes have, and Nick Best has always been one to surprise me what he can do at his age.
Nick is a beast.
It is so nice to see this humble man with you great guys without unnecessarily humiliating Nick.
Good to see Nick still going super strong💪💪💪
Nicks a legend!
I'm 41 started working out at 14. Your body gets accustomed to whatever it's doing, sitting on a couch or training, Never stop and give age a chance to catch up, I can still do what I did in my 20's because I just have never let up. I can still work manual labor and train a couple hours in the same day, or do 5k trails and train couple hours, just never stop. Keep on keeping on Mr. Best
Very well done. Old is only a behaviour.
I'm 47 years old and didn't start lifting until I was 42. Still making gains and outlifting guys half my age.
True mate, I've heard some gamers aged 30 say they have bad knees, wish everyone knew motion is lotion.
7:05 “ try a bunch of sh$t until something sticks “
Might be 27 years before I squat 800, if ever. Good on Nick for crushing it with such consistency!
27 years!!! in a row squating 800 lbs. thats fucking nuts
Right!
Watching videos like this makes me feel proud because I’m a small but a part in this fucking community
11:25 extremely high praise especially knowing how much Nick loves Brian
Nick Best - This man is just amazing! Big respect from Austria
Nick best is a absolute legendary unit, I know some friends who personally trained with him and even had him as their coach/spotter and they El an confirm that he among the other strongmen are legends
Nick Best and Mark Felix are living proof that old is just a mindset
They are the exceptions not the norm. But yes.
@@Ptitnain2They made themselves the exception.
Always thumbs up for Nick, absolute legend.
Nick being able to maintain that level of strength for 27 years is mind boggling. What a legend!
500lbs "medium weight" nick constantly amazes me with how strong he is. The guy is a legend
the 17x500 lbs deadlift... is insane!@#@!
nick is really something else
These guys are pushing almost 700 like it's easy and I'm just trying to get past 500 by the end of the year; sitting at 405 for reps right now.
Currently sitting at 207lbs and want to keep around that weight even if I do body recomp.
Edit:
I didn't start doing well on deadlift until I started lifting in shoes that had a little bit of heel lift to them. I've always trained in 0 rise shoes and have done very well but now that I lift right after work in my work clothes and shoes, getting down to the bar is way easier. I'll have to do some research into what's out there for lifting shoes with a slight heel lift and see if that gets me where I want to be on squats easier than the 2 years of lifting that it took to get me to the 500s for final set reps in my early 20s.
Great video. Nick is an absolute legend and its great to see him on your channel
I'm glad to see your channel is blowing up! Putting out solid content, my friend!
Nick is such a great dude. Thanks for featuring him.
The strength in this video is ridiculous. Nick squatting over 800 for that many years, let alone over 800 in general.. Mitch deadlfiting 605 for 17 beltless is wild. Unpeaked, "random" kinda day.
That was really inspirational and fun to watch. I was shouting; "go on Nick" with the deadlifts when he was getting to near the end :-)
Awesome Nick, absolutely one of my favorite strongman
27yrs of squatting 800 lbs in a row seems Just as impressive as winning 5 worlds strongest man’s, incredible
Mitchell just pulled my Deadlift 1RM, beltless for 17 reps. Feels bad LOL
That's a fantastic 1RM. Respect. 👊
Don’t compare you to me, I don’t compare me to you. Keep working hard brother
The longevity and keeping that level of strength is insane to me
Love nick!
But I really like mitchell!! So good to see a strongman who is not HUGE... (Big, absolutely, but not HUGE).
The amount of oxygen needed to do 275 kg deadlift for 17 reps. Insane!
I remember doing 30 reps on 100 kg squat back in the days. I was just GASPING for air for 10 minutes. The closest I've been to dead, I think...
Fuck yea nick, you just made me smile
Nick Best is truly one of the best there is . His longevity is just unparalleled
This collab is GREAT
"it's over when you don't want to do it any more" yep I'm keeping that.
👍👍👍
Nick Best is a genetic anomaly. At 55 most strength athletes have destroyed their joints but here he is still lifting weights that 99.9% of mankind can't move.
The decent on that 800lb squat was insane
That awsome! Your the BEST!
He makes going down look way harder than going up.
Incredible to watch.
What a fucking legend.
Wow. That was incredible.
Mitchell Hooper = Legend in the making
Nick is just timeless when it comes to strength!
Nick picking up that 400 like he’s grabbing his bottle- extremely impressive form on the 800 as well
Certainly one of the Best to ever do it
I'm always amazed by how slow and control Nick squat.
Nick is a legend, such a kind humble beast!
This was great!
3 years ago at age 48, i had triple bypass surgery because genetics can be a bitch. I got back under the bar as soon as the doctors said I could. My workout routine is what stopped me from having a heart attack. Matter of fact, my heart suffered no damage at all. Let’s get it, Nick!
I fast forwarded the 800 pound squat a little to give Nick a little boost!
Nick is still a beast 👍👊💪
Well done Nick. Your Awesome
I like Nick. Seems a real good man.
watching at work had to drop a comment for mitch nick and algorithm-sama
Nick is clearly an example of training smart. That's why he can still do it at his age.
It's crazy that it's harder for Nick to go down with 370lbs than up!
I want to see a "Nick Best Tries Yoga" video... 🤣
What a mad lad
Nick is an inspiration, he’s the best
Everyone literally wants to comment Nick is a legend....because he really is.
100%
Great content mitch!
Nick Best is a beast of a man👍🏻⭐️👌
Nick is an absolute LEGEND!!
Absolutely insane.
that form was pretty damn solid, wow
800-solid-ass-pounds!
Inspiration 🙏🏻
Great video! When is the white LHBT shirt out? I have the grey but white looks good
Nick Best🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Incredible! I wonder what supplements and meds Nick used over the years 🤔
The only 80 year old squatting 800lbs 👑
Nick is a beast, humble dude would love to meet him
I’m blessed to call him a friend
These video are amazing, just make em longer please
I'm 65 and still squatting!!!!!
OMG!!!!!!!! THAT WAS AWESOME
Top level !!!!
Nick is really the Best!
heck yeah, what the goat.
Nick Best is immortal
💪
The first time was in 1996...................damnnnnnn😲
I love Nick Best....he's the Best
He truly is 💪
Hell yeah big ol man! U did just as much as half ur age!
Can someone explain Nick's deadlift stance? With the feet so close together?
Impressive feat of strength
800 solid ass pounds!!
I swear this guy is one of the most gifted strength athletes of our time. Great to see him training with another one in you Mitch 😎💪🏼
Greatest sport on the planet due to the athletes and almost nothing but...............and still horribly unreported.
I wish all kids knew about the sport.........just to see how mature adults should be.
Crazy slow eccentric!
That control on the 800lbs is crazy 👏 Especially at his age no offence Nick 🤣 🤞One day I hit 800lbs
Man i felt good in the gym until i saw these numbers, i'll keep grinding
Your journey is your journey. Keep working hard
@@mitchellhooperstrongman It is indeed, comparing to others is an idea that'll always bring you down but at first when seeing this it's either discouraging or couraging.
Absolutely the Best
Daaaawm shit was slow as hell too POWER BABY!
Love Nick, probably because I can't lift 800 and I'm over 60...
Y’all have to train with RP while you’re there
I want to be Nick Best when I grow up.
Don’t we all? 😢
Could you work up to 400kg for 10 I don't recall that's been done to my knowledge.
You have to like Nick
Damn, was slow as shit on the way down.
Has anyone else noticed that strongmen dont just live longer, they train longer. Nick Best sets the bar low, and by that I mean he is taking it too his grave.
cap, there have been numerous strongman deaths, but hey everyone from any walk of life dies, is it because of strongman and being too heavy, who knows
