I have a doubt regarding SUBTOTAL function. I have a data in which four columns are there namely Year (contains 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016), Region (Contains East, West, North, South), Shoe size (Contains 6, 7, 8, 9, 10) and Sales (In dollars).
I have used SUBTOTAL function to see the Year wise sales or Year wise Shoe size count. But I wanted to calculate Year wise count of Shoe sizes separately for each size. I hope you got my query. How to do this?

A custom sort will probably work better for you in this case: www.gcflearnfree.org/excel2016/sorting-data/2/. It would sort first by year and then by size. Then if you create subtotals based on shoe size, it will calculate each size individually. For situations like this, you might also want to consider using a PivotTable: th-cam.com/video/N4K3xjM76kI/w-d-xo.html. We hope this helps you!

Yes. It worked with pivot table concept. Thank you so much.

thanks for the Video, but I have an issue with the Third level Group. if I highlight the 3rd level for grouping it is not working as I need. I cannot explain it here but the idea is like this :
(A)in row then (ABCD 123) in Row, then (A.1-A1B1C1 123) in Row, then A.1.1-A12B12C12) in Row
    (B) in Row then (ABCD 456) in Row, then (B.1-B1B1C1 456) in Row, then B.1.1-B12B12C12) in Row
    (C) in Row then (ABCD 789) in Row, then (C.1-C1B1C1 789) in Row, then C.1.1-C12B12C12) in Row
I need A and B and C to appear First in group.
then (ABCD 123) and (ABCD 456) and (ABCD 789) in another Group.
    then (A.1-A1B1C1 123) then (B.1-B1B1C1 456) then (C.1-C1B1C1 789) in another group.
    How ?

We’re not sure if we understand exactly what’s happening, but if you’re using the Subtotals feature it sometimes helps to remove the subtotals and re-add them. From the Data tab, click Subtotal, then click Remove All. Then, you can go back to the Subtotal command to create new subtotals. It’s possible that this may resolve the issue. Hope this helps!
