First, forgive me. I had to use Abe no Seimei art from another series since Fate hasn't illustrated him yet. I used to really enjoy the older anime Hoshin Engi, or Soul Hunter. I was delighted to realize that all of its lore with weapons such as Paopei and Taikoubou (Taigong Wang) all came from the same Taoist ideology Fate's pulling from here. Who is your favorite servant that happens to appear in more than one franchise?
Probably Beowulf or Heracles.
It's a shame we haven't seen Seimei in the series

Hey otaku dai kun i have a recommendation how about you make a video about grand servants how they are chosen the benefits and there powers you made a video about beast so i think that making a video about grand servants is only appropriate sense there entire purpose is fighting beast
Still waiting for Abe no Seimei to make a physical appearance in FGO. During the Kyoto Lostbelt, he does more to help out Chaldea than Merlin does the whole Goetia arc and Seimei wasn't even physically there.
I think he might appear in the Alter Ego chapter of the Ordeal Call, after all that is happening in Japan so he could really come and give us a solid.
Fun fact:knowing how notorious he was he can also be called Merlin of the east basically Japanese version of dick wizard while one is half incubus the other his half fox.
@Pranav Shinde well in most eastern mythology foxes were succubus of some kind.
The part about giving a "True Name" to a Shikigami immediately made me think of the relationships between Gods and their Regalia in Noragami. At that point so many other things about that show, along with other anime like "A Certain Magical Index/Scientific Railgun" suddenly start to click in my head, producing this Eureka moment where I finally understand so many mythical Asian concepts prominent in anime/manga/games that were just lost on me due to growing up in Africa.
Speaking of feng shui, there are Four Guardians as well that guards the direction of north, south, east, and west that bring harmony and happiness for the people. Azure Dragon guards the east, Vermilion Bird guards the south, White Tiger guards the south, and the Black Tortoise guards north. The yellow dragon guards the middle.
Honestly, taoist fiction that portrays the art of cultivation is extremely interesting. I love how the worlds they write about is extremely bleak and brutal, always a place where strength is justice and weakness a sin. I would love to see a protagonist in the fate series going from a mortal to a god-like being by practicing cultivation, achieving enlightenment and shedding their mortal skin. For anyone wondering what I'm talking about, look up pursuit of the truth for a more hero-type of protagonist or reverend insanity for a completely insane villain.
Does Cultivation even exist in real life Taoism? I checked the wiki and it said it was fictional.
@@smellyuncle It does but it's not 100% associated with taoism as it's more of a religious mix of taoism and ancient Chinese alchemy, the so-called immortal elixir that they pursued in ancient china involved cultivation. Nowadays it's obviously a fictional concept but the ancients did believe in it. You can look up the myths of the Jade Emperor and some other mythological figures associated with taoism and you will see that some have stories that mention the concept of cultivation, of going from a mortal to a god through enlightenment and comprehension of the Great Dao.

Tale of Demons and Gods is an excellent example of cultivation based stories and magic systems
I was not expecting to see Ptilopsis when you started talking about shikigami, the connection is weak since she is an owl girl but there's more to her

I have to admit I'm really hoping Abe no Seimei make his way to fgo as a full fledged servant. I'd have to say my favorite servant that appears in another franchise would be Heracles, I used to watch the animated adventures of Heracles all the time. loved the lesson and looking forward to the next one. @@otakudaikun Well that's kind of a loaded question lol. I used to untill I realized how despicable that mouse and everything it represents truly is. So I guess these days I'd have to say hell now I don't prefer the disney version of anything sadly.

Hmmmm, Does this mean we can also have Philosophers as Servants......, in terms of Magecraft though, The Chinese Philospohers(Lao, Confucius and Sun Tzu) has more Mysticism to back there Servanthood.....I guess for Socrates, I guess his Title as the Father of Philosophy could well back his Servant hood. Nonethless another well done video

Taoism can be defined as the belief that humans and animals should love in balance with The Tao or rather the universe. It also pertains with spiritual immortality where a spirit of the body joins the universe itself after death.
Great lesson as always. Hmmm to be honest I'm torn between Tamamo no Mae and Ibaraki with the scales tilted slightly in Ibaraki's favor. Both have great stories but let's face it Ibaraki is just more fun lol. Looking forward to the next lesson

I don't think craft essences are literal, but I mystic codes are already in this series.

Would it be possible for a thamaturgy to be based off of science in the nasuverse because the idea of a mage using magecraft as a form of science and understanding it as science sounds really cool and I was wondering if it was possible.
My video on spiritrons comes the closest to answering that. Chaldea is as cutting edge as you can get.

@@otakudaikun Something interesting I found about Outlaw Star is that it's a Sequel to manga series that was never fully translated that takes place hundreds of years before so kinda like fate magic in Outlaw Star gradually dwindled

i should note that I enjoyed this episode but isn't Mashiro and everything related to Fate/chaos divergence fan-made content? If it is canon in some way, can you cite your source because it looks like you just found Shikigami info on the fanon wiki and simply took it as fact because there wasn't anything to go on in the canon.
I just don't feel like it's a good thing to use content from fanon while not citing your source. Someone might watch this well-made video and just accept it as canon.
If it is actually something from canon and I missed it, I'm sorry, but I couldn't find anything like that when I looked them up.
I guess it's fan made, but its production values are solid and it's connected to other spinoff works like Prototype. Considering there's not much official info out there I figured it'd be better to show off something.
@@otakudaikun Fair enough, but It still seems like the sort of thing that should have been mentioned somewhere in the ending card for the video just to go "This bit's not actually canon but very high quality fanon." or something to that effect. Just something to prevent people just taking it as fact without looking in further.
Your videos are high quality and a really good way for fans to learn the lore. Imagine the case where someone cites your video for something related only true in chaos divergence and saying something to the effect "They wouldn't lie about it so it must be canon."
