Just want to thank you for this as I am a newb / forever grom. Major life change/studio build had my rack life on hiatus. Watched this again now as I am in desperate need of guidance and your kind clip speaks a much needed language to me in the now. So many thanks. All my praises.
This is super cool, dude. So many levels of awesome. There is an entire album's worth of material in here that could be worked out in a Ableton or something. Super inspirational! Keep up the phenomenal work - I would love to see more stuff like this! Overviews of the creative process are the bomb diggity. I really liked the duck, by the way. 😂🦆🦆🐈⬛
Duh I’m just started to plan my modular system when TH-cam gave me this video. You’ve got a spaceship over there 😀 I chose the hybrid producing method, but really enjoyed to see how you cooking a track on that modular wall. Nice job mate 👍😎
Thank you! Good luck on your journey. I considered hybrid for a bit but I like the constraint of keeping it all modular. No wrong way to make a system though. Follow what you find fun.
That was a great discussion on process with you - Thank you. Nothing says "Leaf Blower F**kn up my process" like this! - happy to see you doing great work and hope more in the future! - very solid. Explorations are best realized with one self - and you have found many! - gratis!
As someone just starting out in all things modular, your videos really set the bar of "I want to do THAT"... and then you show how you got there. really really great stuff, as usual
Glad you found it inspiring. The few videos I could find that showed creative process when I was starting out helped me a lot so I wanted to hopefully help others in the same modular boat.
Thank you for the support 🙏🏻 I plan to do a companion video for every song. I'm still exploring the best approach so I hope you enjoy the journey as I try different ways of sharing my process.
Thanks. My list of needed Cwejman modules just grew by yet another droolworthy one. *sigh* :P Nah, seriously tho - thanks for this! Was one of the most entertaining clips about eurorack, and very inspiring in also non-GAS ways. And a treat to see your comments about what was happening/playing during the process. Will need to do one of these myself. Realised I guess I also need to swap my harmonaig for the sinfonion now, too. This video convinced me it's an awesome tool to sequence a LOT of voices in really really pleasing ways. A tip of the 🎩 to you, my good sir! (and good to see we even share the same taste for those! arrived at the 2hp one also after listening through probably every option ad absurdum et nauseam ;)
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it. Sorry to have GAS’d you though. Highly recommend the Sinfonion. It’s the most important piece of my rack. I also give private lessons about using Sinfonion for songwriting/performing if needed 🤙🏻
Nice patch. Nice rack. Think you should make people watch the full 20 hour stream in real time so they know what kind of rabbit hole they're jumping into... and add the 10,000 hours it takes to learn and master on top of that. haha :D Seriously though, thanks for the jams, looking forward to more!
Great video. I'm glad it isn't just me who can be at a synth for hours and change their direction so many times. I'm not a freak after all... Well, not because of that anyway 😁😁
Great breakdown - thanks for sharing! Oh, and love the subliminal Yngwie - now I'm off to set my Sinfonion to A Harmonic Minor - instant Yngwie arpeggios. ;-)
I have modular I watched this wonderful film from end to end . And honestly I’m still in awe of you millennials. I have played electronic music for 30 years mostly sampling acoustic / and electronic audio I designed myself . As well as tons of daws plugs apps the lot. But modular just won’t sink in to my old brain . It’s all the minutia and protocols of voltages formats so I get angry and put it back in the corner. It usually works best for me as any other audio source...for sampling. But you young guys have left us old timers in the dust bin now . Sounds great though! Peace Christo👽🛸🎶🐕☮️ ps Robot speak rocks!
Thank you for your kind comment. I have a hard time with sampling because the possibilities feel limitless. Even with a big wall of modules I can rest assured that I’ll run out of options eventually. Take care 🙏🏻
Second Breakfast check out ms “Travarsi “ another modular beast like yourself. If you send me an email I can create some raw material to use as sound / sampled sources in your rig. It’s easy to convert it from mp4ma back to wave after it’s delivered to you by using audio share on your phone or iPad ..or the dreaded computer / boat anchor! Lol! Load it to micro sd and your in business. I have done that for lots of modular friends . Please watch my movie on utube called “ Curse of the man who sees ufos “ Peace young brother. Christo👽🎶🐕🛸☮️
With all the video work, how in the world do you have time to modulate? I see a wedding ring....for now haha. Great patching though. That "dope alert" at 3 hours was...dope. Hope to hear that one in a track soon. I often look back in the 4-5 hours of dust from an awesome patch and jam, and ask myself, "dam I should get a camera!" I record all my jams nicely tracked in Live, but maybe it is time to video this stuff. I dunno...I enjoy patching too much hehe. Maybe you can put out some how-to vids on....how to vid modular jams....efficiently.
If you feel inclined, I highly recommend filming your patches and process. Modular is such a visual and interactive way of making and performing music that it makes an excellent subject for video. Plus, there's a great community of people in the modular scene. It's very sharing based and non-competitive. There is so much to learn in modular that doing it as a group is better for everyone. I look forward to seeing your videos if that's what you choose to do. PS- tons of great content on how to make videos for free right here on TH-cam. Good luck!
So your recording melodies/bass lines into hermod and then program changing with whatever 4 switches are in the bottom left? I like your idea to chord switch with pressure points, I’m not alone 😄
The 2 pressure points are controlling the chords that Sinfonion is quantizing all the melodic content to. All the melodies programmed into Hermod are running through Sinfonion before hitting the voices. 🤙🏻
Really interesting and inspiring!!! But my question is: How do you make this a song? Do you record it or do you bring it into a DAW or something like that?
My system is built to write and perform my songs so when I record I play the track all the way through in a single take. I record into Ableton and then do a quick mastering of the stereo wav. I also record all the individual parts at the same time in case I ever want to put together a proper album and have full control of the mix. Thanks for watching.
Hey man, piggy backing on this question, i'm building my first modular rig and i'm wondering, what modules are you using to send out different outputs instead of a stereo mix output? I'd love to have full control over every stem i produce on my modular! And a quick question with that Doepfer ribbon, it's sending pitch CV to a VCO quantized by the sinfonion? @@SecondBreakfastMusic
Loved seeing your process! Beautiful song. I was definitely FEELIN' IT! Did the Hermod have any part in the patch? I think I could honestly watch all 40 hours....
Yep- Hermod was a major player in the patch. Because the video was focused on the music I didn’t spend time showing the technical side or recording takes into it. Thanks for watching and feelin’ it!
@@SecondBreakfastMusic nice! I just Watched your other video breaking down the patch. I just got the hermod myself and have found it useful in so many different ways with my rig, small as it is.
Grats on Hermod! Do you have a usb/midi keyboard to plug into it? I find that for inputting melodies it’s the faster route. I just picked up a second one today so I can be working on 2 songs at the same time.
@@SecondBreakfastMusic I have an Akai LPK25 for mobile use and a Roland A300PRO for the studio. I have been working on using it to control all 6 voices separately on the 4MS SWN. 2 Hermods?!?!?! You're a crazy man! I love it!
Drums are ssf entity bass drum, mutant snare, 2hp hats, wmd crucible cymbal, wmd fracture clap. The sidechain ducking comes from the ssf entity bassdrum- it has a “duck” out that inverts its internal envelope. Very handy. Thanks for watching.
is everything playing and synced to each other at the same time with dividers. or are you finding something. recording it. and building the song in the DAW or is it all eurorack hardware.
this is so cool. i love the personality of the video
Thank you! Appreciate the kind words.
Glad i found your channel i learned a lot from this

Our workflows are quite similar -- as is our love for sparkly arpeggios, apparently!
Thanks for taking the time to put this all together :) I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the process :D

i just found out how these modular synths work. and this my friend must be how the cavemen felt. We have found FIRE! good shit fam.
Thank you! Modular is a blast. Good luck on your journey.
Really well done! I really dig how you've figured out your tactile section of the modular. The Catalyst seems really fun. Great patch and song!
Dude, this is so awesome.... when you jam the lead for the first time, that was magical.
Thanks for watching!

Tutorial on how to afford all those modules
1. Sell your soul to large corporation for many years. 2. Quit + cash out stock 3. Buy wall of modules
Lol what's that, like $30 000+ spent to emulate a SID chip?
I wish you happiness and peace 🙏🏻
