That introduction is about as precise and accurate of an introduction and definition of what an Existential Therapist is, what they do and the result of what can be achieved by engaging in the process of 'purpose building/discovery' for a super boosted life experience. Many thanks Emmy.
Thank you so much for your authentic, transparent reflections Emmy. You and your work are fast becoming a cornerstone of inspiration for my own life journey and work. Thank you!
Wow - as someone who has engaged with the mental health system and recognised its failings from within, spent a great deal of time studying philosophy, particularly existential Philosophy, and also studied psychology and psychoanalysis, (not claiming expertise) this is really still a wonderful and fresh communication of the ideas I understand are important but rarely articulated so clearly and authentically, existential philosophy as it relates to mental well being, and responsibility for one's choices and actions. So I will have to watch and learn much more. Thankyou!
Thank you very mush Mrs van Deurzen. I'm a 4 th year Psychology student From Zimbabwe and this is so insightful..I'm enjoying and benefiting a lot from the video clips.
Thank you so much for this. As a philosophy graduate now working on a degree in integrative counseling, your words are music to my heart. Dank je wel. And I will pass it on 🙌🏼
Thank you, you have given me much to think about. In some ways I wish I had listened to this years ago when it was first released, but I believe things and people come into our lives at the right time when we are open to them. I look forward to listening to more of these.
I enjoyed listening to you so much. What an interesting and meaningful life you have lived...and obviously continue to live to its very fullest. All you said makes so much sense. Thank you for taking the time to make you tube videos to share your knowledge with us. I was fascinated to learn that you worked with R.D.Laing . What an experience that must have been! Thank you again.
Hello Ms Van Deurzen, I just discovered you and have really enjoyed listening to some of your utube videos. You are so warm, calming and intelligent and I could tell that you were a Sagittarian just by watching you for 30 minutes. I look forward to watching all of your videos, I am a 2nd year psychology student from Brisbane in Australia. You are an inspiration to women and a wonderful asset to the field of psychology. You have contributed so much! Cheers, Rebecca.
Hi Emmy! I love all of your videos. I would hoping you could talk more about the briefness of life and why it's okay? I've overcome a lot of my existential troubles... But whenever I hear about how relatively brief or short life is, it really scares me and gets me feeling down - and triggers all of these hopeless emotions inside of me. I would love to hear how you would counter/reason with these complicated feelings.
I have just started a psychology and counselling BSc degree online for 6 years and I've come across this job title and it has resonated with me and the way i look at life is in a philosophical way and know and believe life is all about having a meaningful existence and that is the root of everything and the most important thing is to feel connected and feel our life matters... after I have studied my 6 year degree in psychology and counselling what would be the best and quickest route for me? I am a new mother and want to become qualified but don't want to never be home or never have time for her xxxxxxxxx
