I was a Make-A-Wish kid in 2003 and met many of the drivers at Martinsville. Robby was one of the nicest drivers I met, he took me inside his car hauler and showed me around. Jr. was the main driver I wanted to meet and he was really cool also. However out of all the other drivers Robby was the nicest driver. He really seem to enjoy talking and showing me around.

I used to work DSL Tech Support for AT&T. One time I get a call and when I bring up the ticket, it says "Robby Gordon Ent." I ask the guy I'm talking to, "Is this the same as Robby Gordon the race car driver?" He says, "Yeah, that's us." I asked him what it was like to work for Robby Gordon, he paused for a few seconds and then said, "Well, it ain't ever boring."

    Robby has one AOWR shenanigan:
"During his time in open-wheel, Gordon earned a reputation as a tough and sometimes overly aggressive racer. According to Gordon, though his decision to leave open wheel was based largely on "safety concerns," significantly more plausible an explanation to Gordon's estrangement from top-tier opened-wheel racing in North America is directly attributable to a high profile incident during the 1996 Grand Prix of Cleveland, where Gordon was evidenced to have exited his vehicle mid-race, after a mechanical failure, and while standing atop his car, Gordon kicked the Ford Motor Company logo on live national television."
    EDIT: Also, another GT3 music.

Felix got on the radio and cussed Robby out for a good two or three laps and used enough F Bombs that a sailor would have been embarrassed. Sadly, we will never see this in a video on youtube because IF the TV recorded it, they would never play it.

It was the culmination of a long running dispute. What still gets me re: Montreal is that after he got dumped NASCAR told Robby to go to the back of the line, but then they did absolutely nothing to enforce their own mandate - they just restarted the race anyways even though Robby explicitly went against their orders & stayed in 2nd, then they were _shocked,_ *_shocked,_* when he proceeded to immediately pay Ambrose back and wreck him. Nice compilation. He's one of my favorite drivers - for all the reasons you've pointed out. Most of my favorites are simply awesome, traditionally elegant drivers ... Gurney, Donohue, Senna, Dixon, etc. But Robby's a bad boy with incredible talent and no filter ... love him for that. I wish he'd have won the Indy 500 - he had the machines and the talent to do so, particularly during "the split" ... but no.
re: the Jimmy Johnson incident - he surely could have avoided Johnson - but it seemed clear that Johnson started VERY slowly for whatever reason. Was a terribly harsh penalty. I was watching the Montreal race and, although sad that he'd been properly screwed out of the win that so clearly was his up until the incident with Ambrose (caused by Ambrose) - was thrilled that he did what he did. While it's a gross misapplication of the otherwise wonderful phrase from John Lewis - that was some "good trouble" that Gordon got into on that day.
