Unfortunately, she gave in to her sense of revenge and threatened to slaughter an entire town until her target would reveal himself. Geralt had no choice but to stop her... if only she would have done as Geralt had proposed...
@@gaarafan14thedarkknight63 True. Revenge is a powerful drug that can only be quenched in death... either yours or theirs. Besides, you couldn't help but love the actress who portrayed Renfri. She was awesome. And don't forget that Geralt kept her broach as a memento as a reminder of who she truly was... a Princess.
@@josephallard6394 As someone who has read both _The Last Wish_ and _The Sword of Destiny_ I can say with confidence that I love how they have adapted the series. That includes the actress who portrayed Renfri! The only criticism I have to the series so far is the way that they showed two different stories of differing timelines. Geralt’s story, which occurs in the past and Ciri’s story, which occurs in the present. When I watched that it confused me a little because that was before I read the first two books of The Witcher.
@@gaarafan14thedarkknight63 It confused me too. But then I have never read the books. Only played the Witcher 3 video game... that takes place well after the books. Looking forward to season 2.

If you played the games, every witcher ost is heart rending. My dog died yesterday, and the songs help with the mourning. Especially "the fields of ard skellig"
I always have Witcher music *games, tv show* playing in the background while working, painting, writing, etc. There's just a special element to this music. I love this version!!!
The intro is so beautiful. I was in an angry state of mind and then I heard this - I relaxed immediately. Thank you. (I always found it so impressive how music can affect one's mood)
One other thing the show failed to adapt. In the book, Geralt definetly was more lenient towards her. He just didn't know whether what Stregabor was saying was true. He wasn't exactly sure whether Renfri is dangerous. Because of his witcher's code he couldn't kill intelligent beings that're just mindind their own business. But then, after sleeping with her, his friend the town alderman, mentioned him the town of Tridam, which made Geralt remember that Renfri too was talking about Tridam Ultimatum the night before. He then realised, Renfri was planning to massacre the town one by one until Stregabor shows himself out of his towar. Because the wizard of the town is duty bound to help townfolk. Only then, he decided that he has to intervene and Renfri must die. The fight was described much more vicious, because Renfri's men were terrified by his speed, agility and strength, he literally butchered her men who were trying to defend themselves quite viciously, and then killed Renfri too. Here, it's almost like Geralt and Renfri are nearly in love. I remember the chapter's end too, ''Geralt, is this the lesser evil you were talking about yesterday?'' ''It is'' ''Then leave, leave us be Geralt, and don't ever come this town again!''
I searched for this particular theme .... It was there in the show for a brief time as the background music when Renfri was talking to Geralt by the river... It was so good and slightly different from the original theme...I always go to that particular scene to hear this theme..I never thought I would find it individually like this ... Thank you for this.

Her life id beyond tragic. Renfri was one of the Daughters of Lilith. Half human, half Succubus girls born in royal families under a demonic eclipse. They all had special powers. They were Lilith's handmaidens, her version of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. In the book Stregobor says they always predict the future when they are going to die. In the book Renfri spouted all that stuff before she seduced Geralt. And she wss visibly shaken. Because she knew or at least suspected that Geralt was going to kill her. And she never encountered a person in her life who was that much of a threat. Not even Stregobor or her Step Mother. For those who don't know, the Witcher Universe is where all the Fairy Tales come from. Renfri is Snow White. Except that in the book, the Step Mother was supposedly a benevolent woman with a magic mirror belonging to the Goddess Nehelania (a Real Pagan Goddess from Celtic Religion). The Mirror showed her that Renfri was going to destroy the Kingdom. So she asks Stregobor for help. And he and some of the other Wizards captured the Princesses born under the Eclipse. And they all died in the Dungeons predicting the future. Renfri was the only survivor up to this point. In "The Last Wish" the first book, Geralt is the intermediary between the Little Mermaid and the Prince, who's kind of a prick. And when Queen Calanthai proposes Geralt kill Duny for money, he tells her that Witchers are not hired guns. They have a job. They kill monsters. He tells her that a Prince once asked him to find a girl from a ball he attended. She ran away due to his lecherous advances. And left a glass slipper behind. He told the Prince to find a Huntsman. Not a Witcher. And it's implide by Geralt that he tried toss him into the dungeon for saying No. And that Geralt either killed his Knights or severely beat them and him down. This was him telling the Queen that if she dared to try to harm him, she and all she sent to him would die. She keeps the poker face and the arrogance in the book. But shes was probably bracing herself for what he would do. Also, Renfri was once trapped in a crystal form in sleep. Until a stupid prince found a way to break the spell. He took her home. Not long from there, she either joined or organized a military coup which deposed the Prince and his family. And she sat on the Ruling Council. She proved to be ruthless and cunning. Which made her valuable to many governments that sought her help. She had originally been part of a Gang of Dwarves that robbed people on old backroads. They became obsessed with her and killed each other. Because she's a Succubus, she has a charisma and even when someone isn't lusting or in love with her, they like her spirit. They see a leader in her and want to follow her. So she bends most people to her will. That's why Geralt surprises her. Even for a Witcher, he's strong enough that her charisma and lustful energy doesn't effect him. She had to crank up her powers in order to bewitch him while they were having sex her. A Succubus enters dreams. So this is probably a dream she put him in. To be clear, they did have sex. Simply her sex isn't just physical, it's supernatural. She makes love to every part of you. Even your dream self. And even in a Succubus dream she still couldn't dominate him and make him into a follower. The Huntsman was the guy who raped her. Which sealed his fate. He was supposed to kill her. And she took advantage of his momentary satisfaction to kill him. Poor woman. And she was raped repeatedly. She basically says that even after she left the streets, that she was taken off the street by a Freeman (sort of the medieval equivalent to a middle class person. Someone who isn't an indentured servant). And this guy used her as a sex slave and beat her repeatedly.
