@@raffafan not quite. She is a puzzling individual, she doesn't necessarily scream fragile or vulnerable to me. I've seen her in two other films other than Gone Girl and that's the same thing that came to mind.. she's hard to read. She has that piercing look as if she's looking through you and you don't really know if she wants to hurt you or likes you.
She has real depth, is extremely intelligent yet has humility to acknowledge her limitations. So in trying to understand her, one need be watchful of ones own perception. Formidable, in an entirely positive light, is what she is, I think.
She seems like a nice lady, but graceful is the exact opposite description that came to mind for me. I'd say she's very rigid, professional, and formal, which isn't really a problem. She just doesn't seem relaxed to me.
I could listen to her talk for hours....she's like listening to well read poetry....very bright and articulate. The session film photography is astounding....seems film quality...more like this!
I'm so glad she's finally getting lead roles. I first saw her nearly a decade ago in Pride and Prejudice and she was as captivating as Keira Knightley. Looking forward to her career now that Gone Girl will no doubt change its course.
But yeah no doubt she IS mysterious. I haven't seen gone girl yet and no comparisons to Amy but I've followed rosamund for nearly a decade and I've realized that she is just... mysterious is the word. She's lovely, but there's something hidden within her that just seems to be wanting to be unleashed or something. I can't sort it out. Still lovely though.
before gone girl, I didn't pay attention to Rosamund Pike but after seeing the movie, her acting skills are so good that she was so scary in the movie. she put out more than 100% on those scenes, the emotions she conveyed and some of those head knocking to walls scenes with no stunt double. Now to me, she is in a respectable level similar to Kate Blanchett in my heart.
She's so beautiful and elegant and composed, and an excellent actress too, I'm so glad she's got her break through movie and is now getting the attention she deserves.
i had only seen rosamund pike in 2 movies before this Die Another Day and An Education good in both but nothing prepared me for how could see could be until i saw this. She was incredible so interesting to watch she will for sure get an oscar nomination
Philip Moore It's not technically a period piece, but it does cover Barney's life from about the 1970s to 2000s (can't remember exactly). Minnie Driver and Dustin Hoffman are also great in the movie. If you get a chance, read the novel by Mordicai Richler. It's even better.
gosh this woman does not age! shes looked pretty much the same from die another day, if anything i think shes gotten better with age. Loved her in 'The Worlds End' and she absolutely Killed it in 'Gone Girl'.
I love her so much! I'm glad she is finally getting the recognition she deserves! Even Doom and Die Another Day were better films because of her presence! She was fantastic in Barney's Version and even more so in Gone Girl! Definitely will get the Oscar nom, and possibly even win!
She was also in the Steve Martin comedy The Big Year. Her character wasn't funny but she showed (again) she can do American accents very well. She's been in other comedies like Johnny English.
I find it interesting that she discusses Amy through the lens of a normal healthy adult. Rosamund mentions Amy's upbringing, her environment and whatever challenges Amy might have faced but she's completely ignoring one hugely important thing-Amy's unhinged psychopathy. There are plenty of people that had much worse circumstances than Amy did that never go on to eventually murder while attempting to frame their husband for *their* murder.
Early reviews of the movie were based on an idea of a sane adult woman reclaiming her life. I guess it takes maturity and a lifelong observation of human behavior to recognize the traits of psychopath
@@irene2327 I can give you a really late review. I found this movie to be one of the greatest love stories I've seen , ever. Unironically. It really fucked me up for a good while after seeing it in 2014. She really did kill for her husband. I've never seen such an intense and complex female character in a movie , book or anything really. In this movie she presents an absurd amount of faces/sides to her. We see the sparkly eyes of a young and smart girl when she meets her future husband at the party. Then we see some semblance of a high level career she achieves(regardless of the dynamic of her parents). We see a beautiful loving romantic wife very much in love with her husband , fooling around in public. You then get to see her as a woman in the real world, real life dynamics of adulthood with disappointments , a life crisis , a marriage crisis. I'm already bored of typing this on my phone and I haven't really got to peel two layers of this onion. In the big twist of the movie, we learn that what we've seen up to that point is a fabrication, her writing the journal for the police to find. This is where it gets complicated. I dont actually see it that way. Fincher does it this way. He mixes reality with her embellished journal and that is the product we get to see. Her personal monologues from that part onward are riveting to watch. We see a much more complicated individual, trying to hustle and grift her way to fulfilment and happiness. She appears to be tremendously focused and motivated to achieve her state of fulfilment. She is a scary psychopath in one angle but still a vulnerable woman struggling against the meat grinder of life, the next. Not to be overlooked is the fact that she is contemplating suicide, reminding us yet again that her character is something more than just a vain sociopath . There is a lot of humanity underneath all that stunning bravado of hers. When she gets grifted by those two punks my heart sinks. That's the moment when I started cheering for her unapologetically. You have to sympathize with her at that point. It clicked for me. Even if you may be this devilishly intelligent creature , sociopath as people like to call her, the big chaos of life still alters her hard worked meticulously planned path. By this point half a day passed and I'm resuming this rambling TH-cam comment of mine intermittently. That's how taken I am by rewatching this movie last night. I don't know if Rosamund Pike did this to me and I'm just having a stupid crush or what but ... Damn..
I ENJOY VERY MUCH HER MOVIES, SHE IS AN EXCELLENT ACTRESS AND SEEMS TO BE DOWN TO EARTH. WHEN WE SUFFER DEEPLY IN LIFE BECAUSE OF WHAT COMPLICATED PEOPLE BRING TO US AND WE SURVIVE WE BECOME MYSTERIOUS, SMARTER, MORE INTELLIGENT AND STRONGER!
***** Their early work was a little too 'new wave' for my taste, but when Sports came out in '83 I really think they came into their own, commercially and artistically.
Batman The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
Have you actually BEEN to England? I have. I have relatives who live in the North. They don't speak like this. No one I have ever met there spoke in an accent that refined. A few waiters and tour guides in London, maybe. But that's probably affected.
Rosamund's accent is relatively posh, but I wouldn't say more posh than the Queen's (or anyone in the Royal family). It's not any more posh than say, Emma Thompson's. Rosamund doesn't sound like a Royal, she sounds more like a Professor at Cambridge University.
Has that 1,000 yard stare you see in some victims of abuse when a child is caught thinking they are in some sort of ideal romantic relationship when in reality they are being taken advantage of by a parent or other relative. They often end up blaming themselves and detaching themselves emotionally from any physical intimacy. People who have witnessed continuous violence or war can have it as well. The worst part is they then may even give up on the idea of the possibility of a romantic relationship altogether. Other than that, she reminds me of Martha Stewart for some reason.
