Did Scarfell pike yesterday and following watching your video stopped in Keswick and bought poles. Snow and ice an hour into climb meant with out poles we would not have got up or indeed down safely. Thanks
Good tip about the coins. Just done it today. Same route as this. Weather was rough to start with, it is still March though. Towards the top the wind chill really kicked in and I could barely see the cairns the visibility was that bad. Its true it hurts more on the legs going back down. The driving route back via Hardknott and Wrynose Pass adds to the fun.
Hoping to go Sunday canping at National trust campsite Eskdale. Been to the pubs in Eskdale highly recommended. Great informative video for the beginner thankyou guy's.
Thanks Neil! Appreciate it! I can’t remember if there was signal or not, but it’s quite a built up town near the car park with a cafe etc so I would imagine there should be some signal. To be on the safe side I would download any maps etc beforehand. Happy hiking!
@@morrislouiseeagle7161 cheers for advice have my map ready , I am planning to walk up early August so I guess it will busy with plenty of others going the same way 🤞
Thanks mate - couldn't see any water sources up the mountain apart from the stream, so I'd recommend bringing enough water with you (depending on the time of the year). A water filter is a good backup option as well!
@@jasonmaddison8815 no worries mate, there is a stream right next to the Wasdale carpark (but you use a bridge to cross this one). The stream where you have to step on the rocks to cross, is probably about 30-45 minutes walk from the carpark (allow an hour to be safe) - depending on how fast you walk and if you're going up or downhill! Hope you have a good hike!

thank you for this, i was thinking of going up there for my 1st time next month so glad theres a recent vid of the climb, it the route easy enough to see to follow?
You're welcome, thanks for watching! The route is easy to follow at the start from the carpark, however, towards the top it is a bit of a scramble over the rocks and I didn't see many signs. The weather can also change pretty quickly, and visibility at the top can be poor! I would recommend taking a physical map or downloading a digital map offline (I use an app called AllTrails and would highly recommend it)! Hope you have a great hike! Enjoy! :)
Mate, just subscribed! We're looking to hit this one up aswell! Looks like we're doing a similar thing to you guys, travelling around Europe and the UK from Aus!
