    The best news of the video was that the mansion was saved and not demolished. Thank you so much for sharing.

    So glad to see this mansion wasn't demolished like so many others. I know to save many to much work needs to be done to restore them & could become quite costly, but it's so sad to see that part of history gone forever.

    I'm so glad she has been saved. Let's hope the new owners are well diversified.

      Hopefully they are in Pharmaceuticals. If the 3 million dollar roof needs to be replaced they can just raise the price of a life saving drug by 10%. Those are the people who buy houses like that.

    Best part of any old house "or new" is the detailed wood work. Thanks for your time, work and posting.....

    Thank you so much for showing these beautiful homes. I think we forget sometimes these were homes that someone actually lived in and enjoyed.them. the whole house is beautiful.. so very glad it survived to find love again

    Beautiful place and I think I'll pick the library as my favorite room. -- I wasn't born there, but I like to think of myself as an honorary thrifty New Englander: Had I lived in and run the Poor mansion I would have used a good portion of the gardens for growing food for the estate and would have had some cows and chickens as well.

    What a beautiful mansion !! Gorgeos architecture and beautiful grounds also . The bedroom with the large floor to ceiling windows is beautiful . Really like the detailed plaster and woodwork . This seems to be a real hallmark of for many of these grand estates. The staircases and entry halls are always so grandchild. The beds here don’t seem to look very comfortable however . Glad to see this home has gone back to private residence and has been restored to more original interior as it should be. No wrecker’s ball thank goodness. To beautiful to destroy a home of such grand loveliness.❤😊

      So funny to hear he and his family died broke. Maybe he should have toned it down a bit and just built a 5,000 sq. foot mansion. How do you even communicate from one end of the mansion to the other back in those days? Looks like 30,000 square feet of pure boredom. Can't even watch the game.......LOL

    My favorite room was definitely the library. I think it’s the first time the library in one of the mansions featured a large collection of books. The other had just a few half height bookcases.

    Very nice to hear the house has returned to residential use and remains much as when it was built. Your videos have shown an interesting phenomenon, namely that many of these big houses end up in the hands of the Catholic Church. I always think of priests, monks, and nuns living simple lives, but when they end up occupying houses such as this, simple doesn't apply!

    • @user-sg6ji2kk3u
      @user-sg6ji2kk3u 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Totally agree with the Catholic s buying up these beautiful homes and turning them into residential homes for themselves or schools. It’s not right at all . They preach about serving God and Preaching his and Jesus teaching and they take up residence in Fancy nunnery’s and former grand estates. It goes against living the”Simple” life of god . While there are hungry homeless people all over North America. Hypocrisy. Only Mother Theresa lived a Piper’s life in India while serving the Lord Til her death in 1997.👍🏻☺️👏🏻👏🏻

      Although the church is wealthy, the priests and nuns, are not. They may live in mansions, but they live a simple life. Several Televangelists live in luxury and have private jets, etc...

    The dearth of framed artwork (not counting the prints/photographs in the smoking room) is interesting. I'm wondering if the photos date to the house's sale after Poor's financial debacle - and that the more valuable, movable, furnishings were already gone. Again thanks for showing us around this surprising survivor!
