It was awesome to finally meet you in person Justin! Thank you so much for all the support you give to those of us working to keep the road alive, and for going to such lengths to get the history right!
As a fellow bibliophile, thank you for turning me on to that book shop...wow. I'm home sick today but my head is spinning in a good way from all the awesomeness I saw in the brief shots included here. I just saw my favorite book in the world, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, in a slipcase I never ever knew existed for it...like....whoa...lol Extra points for that adorable vintage Professor Calculus? figure reading in a chair omg. 🥰
Longtime fan of yours! I also have celiacs disease and travel a lot, so I think it'll be great if you continue mentioning any gluten free places you find on your travels!
I love Pretty in Pink I love all the characters and I love Pee-wee Herman thank you so much for showing the family location bro hope you and Allie get better and be healthy anyways have a great night be safe❤❤❤❤❤❤
I have totally forgotten the end of Route 66 is Santa Monica! I will definitely take the kids there this summer! Thanks for showing awesome places to visit ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Very interesting, would love walking around there on a warm summer nite with a pocketful of cash and a shopping bag……..Hope Ally is eating well and feeling better. 🙏🏽❤️
It's so appropriate that, in front of a filming location for Pee Wee's Big Adventure, is a large brontosaurus shaped shrub, that reminds me so much of the Cabazon dinosaurs. EDIT: Bibibop would fit in well in a lot of malls in OC. I could even see it in Downtown Disney.
I drive for work now and every time I’m near Route 66 I think of you and your vlogs! I love driving across country. Last long drive i had was from California to Alaska.
My Dad would have been in Absolute Heaven, inside that book store, he's passed away now, and was a construction worker by trade, but had always held a keen interest in books and the printed word, also always made sure we as kids had access to true, good, high-quality, children's reading material within our home,in fact one of The very 1st books he made sure we had on hand, was a complete collection of A. A. Milne's Winnie-The-Pohh stories, with the authentic, E. H. Shepherd illustrations, so yes, I grew up believing that Eeyore, was, and Should in fact be Grey in color, as per the Original pictures, Not Blue as the Disney books & cartoons would later go on to depict him. My Dad for a while even tried to create a side business from home of buying, selling, and collecting for himself, old, rare, and 1st Edition books, as well as specializing in researching, locating and providing such books for people to add to their own book collections, and as it stands even today, I currently have deemed 2 cartoon characters as my all-time favorites, and those would be Snoopy, from the Charlie Brown/Peanuts Universe, and Eeyore from the Pooh Universe, Snoopy because he reminded me A Lot of my Dad's personality, ironically enough, and Eeyore, I think because of that we early exposure that My Dad made sure I had regular access to. Toward the end of My Dad's life after his body got too old to let him swing a hammer anymore, he moved into NYC with my Step-Mother, and set himself up a nice little business as a street corner book-seller, usually along Broadway somewhere near 110th Street, or in or near Riverside Park, they lived in a co-op apartment in a building on 111th Street between Broadway & Riverside Drive, near Columbia University.
Only the shopping mall at the southern end of the Third Street Promenade, then called Santa Monica Place, had been designed by collaboration between Frank Gehry and his former employer, Victor Gruen. The rest of the Third Street Promenade was designed by The ROMA Design Group, a San Francisco-based interdisciplinary firm of architects, landscape architects, and urban planners, redesigned the area in 1990.
You, spike marpel, ms. Palmer, Janet Klein are L.A. national treasures. The Japanese understand this! Also Bennie Reese and wife. Saw one of your tiki carvings at the reef in palm springs.
I love the "Aquabats" they take me back when I would watch them with my Grand Daughte, she was just 2 1/2 - to 4 (shes 14 now) years old, she got Grandma hooked!! 🥹🩷 We also watched, Yo Gabba Gabba...!!! The bookstore you went into was amazing...in the background I saw Anne Frank, I want to see that book and All the John Steinbeck books...I would be in HEAVEN!! Great video, Justin, Thank You!!! 👍👍
It's too bad.The GIV (German in Venice )is in Germany right now.Would love to see you 2 together.I don't know if you know who he is but you're in his territory. His mom had a heart attack so he had to go to Germany. But I think he would get along with him really well.
I get it to a degree, but for most people I think it's Because it's a better start/Stop than the middle of Downtown LA or Mels. When I get to Chicago I always wanna wander down and see the lake, same thing in LA, most people want that Primo photo op. The Grand Canyon / Meteor Crater aren't on Route 66 either but they've been part of the experience for most people. Same with the St Louis Arch or any other kind of main attraction, I think the pier is as close to a "Main attraction" as you get in Santa Monica these days. If it makes any difference the people IN the booth there tell every visitor where the original terminuses are, and explain the history of the photo op sign at the pier
Sadly, the entire Woolworth's store chain, has since gone out of business. The one in New York, which is the one I'm most familiar with, because I'm originally from New Jersey, and actually was born on Staten Island, New York, some 60 years ago now.
I'm kind of getting the feeling that the kitty in the bookstore hasn't ever had a camera in his, or her face before, couldn't tell if it was a boy kitty or a girl kitty.
Hey Justin . Hope your girl is doing better . Love you videos . How can I buy you guys lunch . I already asked . No reply . I don't even see how I can give you some cash . Please help
Thats very sweet of you and I'm not sure, I think every TH-cam video has a way to leave a tip, we have patreon in the links etc, but she's doing OK now, eating better and walking around. Hopefully these meds work and no more surgery ... fingers crossed
Justin , you put to much time and work into videos like this one ..,we enjoy the 15 min ones when you show us a day in your life making a tiki mask or showing collectables in your shop ….. you don’t need to work so hard on one video
Of course Santa Monica wants visitors. Why would you discourage that? How do you think the Route 66 gift shop and all of the other tourist dependent businesses keep their doors open?
I've noticed that you generally record your videos in the morning and in my opinion that is a mistake. Places generally look much better in the afternoon or close to the sunrise because of the warm light . That blue light in the morning makes them look so cold, boring and plain.
It was awesome to finally meet you in person Justin! Thank you so much for all the support you give to those of us working to keep the road alive, and for going to such lengths to get the history right!
For what it’s worth my friend I really love when you do these route 66 videos
Thanks for the shout out my brother. Look forward to meeting up again. Tell Ally we said hello and we wish her a speedy recovery.

You really helped me cope with trauma in my life, I’m 60 and you literally helped my mental health
I’m Christine, my husband passed, anyway I will continue with the quest for positivity 😊
You are a lovely person ❤
Longtime fan of yours! I also have celiacs disease and travel a lot, so I think it'll be great if you continue mentioning any gluten free places you find on your travels!
So cool to see Trax. I love that movie. One of my favorites!
Thanks for your videos as i was born in a RT 66 city and just bought a couple souvenirs from new Mexico USA
I LOVE Bibibop. There was one where I lived in NC and I went all the time.
My sister's friend worked at the bike shop Pedal Pushers in Newport Beach where they made Pee Wee's bikes for the film.
The Mystery Pier Book store looks amazing......
I love Pretty in Pink I love all the characters and I love Pee-wee Herman thank you so much for showing the family location bro hope you and Allie get better and be healthy anyways have a great night be safe❤❤❤❤❤❤

Very interesting, would love walking around there on a warm summer nite with a pocketful of cash and a shopping bag……..Hope Ally is eating well and feeling better. 🙏🏽❤️

Just had like a Titanic flashback of 3rd street and saw it exactly how it was when I was 8 😢 got my ears pierced there & saw Star Wars Ep 1

I've never met him and not too familiar, although we have some mutual friends
3 Bibibops in the Chicgo area. Bloomingdale, Palatine and outlying Chicago. Though nothing interesting in those areas to visit or vlog about.
That just fry's me that fake RT66 end at the pier gets so much attention. I started at the real start / stop corner at Mel's Drive In.
I get it to a degree, but for most people I think it's Because it's a better start/Stop than the middle of Downtown LA or Mels. a newsrack?
Hi Justin and hi ally
Hello!
Justin and ally you are my favorite TH-camr ever and I like the one on tower of terror
Mel's used to actually BE, The Penguin.
I'm kind of getting the feeling that the kitty in the bookstore hasn't ever had a camera in his, or her face before, couldn't tell if it was a boy kitty or a girl kitty.
I think Pacific Ocean park was in Long Beach or San Pedro
You still have Guam further west that is part of the U.S.
Alan, over the seven years I’ve been watching Justin, this is only the second reply I’ve seen from him. I hope his girl gets better too.
Justin , you put to much time and work into videos like this one ..,we enjoy the 15 min ones when you show us a day in your life making a tiki mask or showing collectables in your shop ….. you don’t need to work so hard on one video

I went to Santa Monica Pier get a video

All of this has been done a million times over, why not vlog the Lincoln Highway it's older, and longer, same content over and over! 🤔🤔🤔
Case you didn't know, Carpetbagger drove the Lincoln Highway 2 years ago. Good series.
typed a whole thing about how frustrating this video was, but I deleted it. You know what you did.
