    My house is 103 years old and I love my hydronic system. Those radiators kick ass. I go up in the attic and bleed the system every year and last year me and a couple of buddies changed all my returns, in the crawl going back to the boiler because most of them were in the ground and leaking. Now it really kicks ass.

    LOL ... its funny how you think when you see stuff. After over 60 years of work sometimes you just instinctively react to things without a single thought. When the first radiator sprouted water, I moved my coffee cup from in front of my screen so it wouldn't get into my coffee . It's a big screen and almost looks real, sounds stupid but I laughed right after only realizing what I did after the fact. Love these videos !

    My problem is the zoning is front and back of house ( because back in the day the back was a bakery ). My upstairs is sauna hot and my downstairs is too cool. If I remember correctly years again my maintenance guy told me the valve to the radiators up there are so old, they can’t be turned off. (Because the are stuck, rusted) My question is, under normal circumstances..... should I be able to use the valve to turn down, or off, the flow to these old type radiators? All winter the upstairs windows are open AND my kids run fans to try to cool their rooms wasting electricity. Plus they get so hot they come down and turn the thermostats all the way off and then my downstairs ends up freezing again. It’s a never ending battle that I’m tired of fighting. 😢

    in my apartment has 6 radiators. one in my room,, one in my kichten, one in bedroom, and playroom. we never have gotten to do all this. but in 3 years ago back in between Oct and half Nov of 2019, all my radiators were leaking. and it was making noise. like for example clicking noise, and banging nosie. so and the landlord plumber his name vinny. he had to come and fix all of the radiators. and then they worked perfectly fine. but sometimes, we have a bit problem when the radiators were on, sometimes it's not strong warm enough. that means the landlord plumber probably didn't set the meter on high, or probably forgot to set it on high, or could be something got stuck in the radiator, or underneath the radiator. like something like that. and sometimes it probably take some time for it to come on the heat for no reason when the weather is super cold.

    Tha vast majority is getting of heat is getting wasted from those uninsulated pipes, heating up the basement. Big system needs higher pressure and check for any kind of leak even in the valves of radiators sucking air especially in the returns. Also a deaerator in the higher point of the system should be installed to automatically take out any air in the system.

    Those feeders always stick 1156. Also noticed nothing is insulated. See this a lot unfortunately-When the original system was installed- everything was wrapped in asbestos, which made a huge difference in heating efficiency. Now when a new system goes in. Everything gets abated and none of the piping is isolated. It is in the code , that those pipes need to be rewrapped. Pretty much common sense.

    • @stevenlavimoniere
      @stevenlavimoniere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      uninsulated pipe will heat the basement hence heat the floor .that will make to a warm floor / house when its cold out ...i would leave it as is without insulation .sometime you have to look at the big picture .insulating all them pipes in basement would be a big bill for sure .. never going to happen
