You always seem to work seamlessly with the other trades which is to be admired. Another fantastic job, I just wish we had a loft space tall enough to turn into a useable space
How do you fix the new cross beams on the floor to the walls at either end of the attic, and do you just sit the beams on the existing beams running the opposite direction?
Great work in tight quarters, gents! Whenever I hear this particular accent, in my mind, it's straight out of American Werewolf in London, when they're in the Slaughtered Lamb- "...there was this aeroplane over the Atlantic, on it's way to New York..." 🤣🤣🤣
Decent! Learnt a fair bit from your vids Rob. We're just finishing a loft "storage space" the clients are gonna store a bed, some chests of drawers, TV etc, all the usual stuff you need to store. 😉 Only difference, after the insulation in the rafters, we put a thermal VC foil on the rafters then 2x1 then 37mm insulated plasterboard. Just so all those things being stored are nice and cosy.
Don’t mate! I was just about to start my own “storage space” then I watched a video on TH-cam from a structural engineer would had me convinced my house would fall down if as so much put one board up there so I bottled it! 😅 These guys are doing it exactly how I was going to do it n it looks spot on
@@relaxreflect5888 it depends alot on the depth of your existing joists, the spans, etc we wouldn't do it on a new house roof with sticks as roof members. I've worked on a job where a structural engineer allowed 2x2 to be glued on top of the existing 6x2 and screwed every 300 mm with 4 inch screws, there are always ways and means.rob knows what he's doing. It's all about context. Every jobs different.
Great old school job,so good to see you moving on from previous 😡 you will always be in work matey because of one simple thing,as they say in Yorkshire 'thauht reit gud at thi job"👍
Could you please provide an estimate of the cost for this project so that people can assess whether it's worth investing in? It would also be helpful to compare this to something like a loft conversion into a living room, as I believe this project might be around half the price of a fully functional conversion.
Would love to have that kinda space for someone to work this kinda wizardry on our 1930s detached, but then where would we put all the stuff we don't need 😂😂😂
Hi ya rob I seen you video brilliant work done can I have your contact details Just the quick question did you need a planing permission for those or not ?much appreciated
I asked for advice on creating a loft space and got ripped apart online. Apparently this is an illegal conversion and building control (UK) would just tell me to rip this down. Additionally I couldn't sell my house with this as buyers solicitors would read the surveyors report and they would advise them against buying.... can anyone advise if this is right? I had somebody come down and said fire regulations are there for a reason they built on real life tragedies where building regs are not followed.
Always see your videos always do an amazing job guys but why do you not mask up when up in the old lofts guys lungs will not cope with all that going up in the air 😢
Won't the ceiling sag? The weight of the floor on them thin pieces of existing timber holding the weight of the new timber plus flooring plus whatever you putting in the room.
@@jonodunn2592 I've done similar for storage but i put sprags in screwed to both the "joists" and the rafters/pearling depending where i place the sprags, certainly wouldn't do it without sprags and 100% not for a bedroom 🤣
The lad is back 🎉

Zeros AND HEROES. Nice one CHAPS.
Is there breathable felt behind the insulation? if not, what did you do about ventilating the gab behind the insulation to stop condensation?
4:20, I’m surprised they don’t want to leave the brick exposed, it’s a nice feature.
8:14, this space, too bad it wasn’t opened up to the main attic.
Them ceiling joists are not designed to support that extra weight. Cowboys.. Did you also strip out some purlin supports?
Perfect grow room for the boys wahaaaay
Grand job there lads 👍
Poshest loft space ever? Great job.
Thank you

No mate a fixed ladder or staircase go against building regulations
Nice and clean job
what about purlins and collars - have you had them over there before you started works?
Great iob fellas! The only slight thing I would of gone for would be top hung Velux's if I was being picky 👍
Not a bad shout pal 👍
How do you stop any leaks from coming through from the tiles that your unaware of
Great job
How much would a job like this cost?

Hi, i notoced like my 1930s roof , the roof in video has no felt. Just the tiles direct on batons. Does it need anything doing?
Are you still doing the metal truss system. Would like to find out the cost for my house next year. Do you have a website or something please? Cheers
Hello friend
I’m no longer using the metal system
But I can convert using traditional methods much cheaper
What are the sheets called which you installed on the floor

Another splendid job rob ! Little john from chichester
Thank you
great vid
Hi Bob, the insulation boards on the rafters seem a bit thin, what thinkness you have used?
Hello we use 25mm for storage space and
200mm for habitable
Velux opened it up nice
Was that a small room through that small hatch space? Couldn't work out what was going on there, but nice job.

I need mine doing. Fancy a run up to the North East 😉🤣
Happily drop me a msg 👍
Fantastic job how much will it cost £££... please???
Hello friend
Depending on size of loft and what you want, from £6000 to £12000
Hello mate, did damo come across with you after the fall out? Obviously these are older pre turkey videos 😅
Hello friend damo is still with EcoTrus I believe
Hi genuine question here. How has one whole side of that roof got no purling struts or hangers?
Looks great what was the price for this
Hello friend
Depending on size of loft, this one was £9650 I believe
@@builditwithrob thank you
It can be used for sleeping.
why is other purlin not supported ?
My loft is a mess isulation has been ripped up put in a pile so i have no istulation up there. Wish mine looked this good
If you want it converted you know who to ask
Do you need planning permission for windows?
You don’t in most areas, in conservation areas you require planning
What size/type of timber are you using for the counter joists?
4x2 I would say
What you have for lunch?
😂
Always see your videos always do an amazing job guys but why do you not mask up when up in the old lofts guys lungs will not cope with all that going up in the air 😢
Build it with Rob, not ecotruss

Them thin pieces of timber are what’s stopping your bedroom and bathroom being in your living room😂
