So over white farmhouse with signs! I don't think chalk paint is out. It continues to thrive in my area as long as it's well done. LOVE colorful tile, preferably old world style and yes, arches are wonderful. Love a moody room with tons of plants bohemian style!
I've never been one to keep up with changing styles, especially year after year. But I AM a firm believer in "You do you and I'll do me, and we'll both be tickled. " I installed commercial acoustical ceiling most of my career, so I seriously appreciated your comment on interesting ceilings. It's an area that has been way overlooked for way too long. On that point, let me interject that if you have a nice budget to work with, drop ceilings can be made beautiful. There are literally thousands of things you can do with it. I once helped install a 35' high ceiling in a bank in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. The grid pattern was 5'x5' instead of the normal 2x4 or 2x2. Each tile was concave upwards and featured two lions standing on their back feet facing each other. The end product was an amazing sight from the floor, 35 feet below.
As a "maker, creator, and artist I'm constantly watching what is in and out in order to know what trends my buyers will be wanting to go with their refreshes. I can't find fault with any placement of elements on your list. We are in complete accord. People are in need of comfort right now and curved edges, arches, soothing colors (but not brown) etc. will fill emotional needs at this point. Fun video! Thanks.
I love browns !!!! Not everything brown, no brown walls !!!!! But some added browns !!!! Mostly I agree with you , but hate that Swedish painted furniture look yuck !!!!!!!! Thanks for the tips !!!
I used to love it but then it got depressing to me. I still have a hint of grey on the paint but I overpower that with all the warm colors in the decor. @@DIYsisters_
I think the only thing that is out is following trends! If you have spent years curating your home, and love it, I wouldn’t listen to what anyone else tells you. One exception…if your home is on the market, and your agent tells you to change something then do it if possible, because the world is full of people who are like a heard of sheep🤣🤣🤣.
Yeah definitely! That’s why I think the in and out trend is fun because it’s personal to you! Everyone can have a different in and out list for what’s getting them excited.
I'm totally against anything that's difficult to DUST: open storage, tapestries, natural materials, board/batten! Not a fan of pastel nor browny-frowny. Do. Not. Cancel my chalk paint!🤨 Not that I use it much... actually, I've only painted one piece of furniture: a coffee table with assorted homemade pastel chalk paint and covered it with clear chalkBOARD paint for the grandbabies to scribble on. 😆👧👧
I think whatll (hopefully) be put is the board and battern on one wall, if youre not doing it on every wall, it look bizzarre. Architectural details need to be consistant in order for it to not look stupid and get old quickly. Often you need to understand the history to understand how to make something work.

I completely agree with you on everything, especially the brown! Brown always looks like fake wood, and so ends up looking like a cheap imitation
Blue is in…gray is out 💙

I love warmer colors including brown. Gray hater here! lol
Oh I totally should have added grey to the out list. Grey is so boring I forgot about it. Hahaha

@@DIYsisters_I maintain what's worse than being a total failure is being utterly forgettable.

Your whole living room in the background is “OUT” 🤪
