The gum works for me, howwver, I've noticed that it needs to be gum that's sugar free. Real sugar creates sticky mouth noises, try a gum with Xylitol, like Icebreaker, works wonders for me. I still have to manually edit but not nearly as much as in the past before I found the gum. Thanks for being here!
If you use Audacity, you can use the punch copy paste function to insert room tone in every gap between words. It will fill in however short or long a gap you want to fill. It trims it for you It’s super quick.
@@vmtz2001 really!? Awesome thank you! That actually takes some of the pressure off. It's my first at anything like this. I found Bill's TH-cam channel and it has been amazing!
Still not awake for live stream, but thanks for all the tips. I have used Audible, but am now just switching over to Adobe Audition. Thanks again from San Pedro, Ca.
In Izotope's RX, you can see your audio in a spectral view which to me is like looking at an x-ray of your voice. As you become more familiar with listening to the sound of your voice and following the x-ray, you can see the mouth noise. With enough practice you can see it even before you hear it. The key to removing mouth noise is to use a gentle touch at first. I think of it as a light massage. Then listen back. If needed apply another pass. Mouth noise doesn't have to be removed completely but just enough to where your client won't hear or notice it.
Great advice Bill. I've found that tilting my head up reduces my noise. Until I can figure out how reduce mouth noise within a word (in between words is relatively easy), I'm left with a making a few more takes of a phrase or sentence.
I started using Spectral view a couple years ago as well----been a lifesaver!
I love spectral view! Took me a while to take the plunge but man, what a game changer.
I edit strictly in Audition’s spectral view. It makes taking out those pesky clicks and pops SO much quicker and easier.

Spectral View is a must in my editing. Every cluck, click, and smack can be removed that way.
Thank you sooooo much!! I have been editing my first project and it took me 4 hours to edit one chapter! This is a blessing thank you so much!!!!
4 hours is actually pretty good!
