I hadn’t even decided whether I’ll be taking up voice over but after this gold nugget of an advice looking me in the eye and telling me how it’s done, I feel I’m running out of excuses not to do it. Precious. Thanks Bill!

Tips not just for VO, but for acting. Genuine feeling (without "showing"); authenticity (letting YOU come through, not your idea of what "they" want); and mostly, letting go of control.

Great tips here, Bill. Especially in that we don't audibly sound the same as what we hear in our heads. It's a fight not doing retake after retake in the pursuit of perfection.

Thanks for these tips, Bill. Especially for demonstrating them. It's one thing to be told what to do and how to do it, but it is so much more illustrative to see a seasoned pro give a demonstration.

Hi Tony! You're welcome. I've been trying to incorporate more demonstration in my videos so people can clearly see what I'm talking about. I'm really glad to hear you're finding it helpful. :-)

people told me I was dumb when I told them to grab a teddy bear grab or some water put it in front of you and speak to it. this voice over world is so toxic thanks bill these method is amazing and helps a lot when performing.

Did my first recording today. I was performing as the eighteen year old rockstar (both of which I'm not lol) that I was reading. Even with editing I didn't love how it turned out. After watching this I realized my problem. Next time I'll focus on being real and think about how I feel. This video is gold! A master sharing his knowledge. Thank you.

Another technique is to read it very slowly, like a first grader so it registers in your mind and you become familiar with the script at an unconscious level.

Bill I continuously get such great insights from listening to you and I have a background as an actor I have studied acting everywhere from the American theater academy to coaches to numerous to mention and yet you are able to condense down the essence and really the simplicity of connecting with a script and sounding natural and comfortable and conversational and this is such a great reminder for me because I still after all these years get intimidated by that microphone at times

Hi Bill, thanks for the Video.
I have never used the Springboard by adding to the script, but i will certainly try.
So far, i tried to channel the emotion by acting the emotion (eg. Smiling, Laughing, Yawning, Remembering certain moments), which also changed the reading significantly.

Bill's videos have become impossible to watch because of the way he's been editing them lately. It's obvious he's editing for the best audio pacing, but watching the screen constantly "glitch" out because of his edits is making them unwatchable. I haven't been able to get all the way through a single video since he started this practice; I unsubscribed last week.
