    Awesome video!! I just started playing conference softball and coming from a competitive baseball background I thought the transition would be seamless, which is true until you play against real competition. The little things, hitting your pitch, being able to hit a laser through the infield anywhere, are the skills needed to succeed at a level where anyone can hit a HR. Brandon had some awesome tips! Keep the content coming!

    John Williams here to elaborate on what Brandon is saying about moving up and being at the front of the plate it brings the height of the flat pitch up a bit more so it crossing your body more around your waist line or higher rather than at your knees or lower

    It's crazy how high his hands get, almost above his head before he gets to the connected position.

  • @AntoineBandele
    @AntoineBandele 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    How about cutting to backside? Does that work in the same fashion with catching the ball early? Or do you wait for fb all deep and still cut?

    • @LeagueNightSoftball
      @LeagueNightSoftball  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can definitely cut backside. Basically let the ball travel a bit further but really throw the hands towards the right side. You'll want to do this with pitches a bit outside or you can always line up on the outside line of the batters box to gain that extra space to "meet the ball out front". Essentially the same concept but you are meeting the ball farther back AND also farther outside. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

    What balls were being hit? They sound a little mushy. Not that it mattered he was crushing them!

    • @LeagueNightSoftball
      @LeagueNightSoftball  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching SoxNation24! We were hitting a combination of Evil BP Rockets (47s) and 44s. It was about 100 degrees out so the balls were mushy in general. Traylor was still doing damage even though the balls weren't that hard!

    B. Where's those fields located? Nice looking facility.

    • @LeagueNightSoftball
      @LeagueNightSoftball  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For USSSA, which is what Brandon plays primarily, as long as the back foot remains at or behind the front of the plate, and the front foot doesn't step in between the plate and the pitcher, you are ok. You also have to start with both feet in the batter's box. The fields we were practicing at are in Mountain View and were built by Google, so they are extremely nice haha

      During general league play I know many players avoid taking walks and we understand that. However, once you enter into competitive play, taking walks can be essential. Often times, willingness to take a walk is the difference between and great team and a mediocre team.
