I just never understood why a lot of devs dont put Time Attack cars in their games? They are so much fun, and so unchained. Sure, they would be hard to balance, but cmon, it's a virtual tuners dream.
Its all fun and games untill some idiot glitches his time and uploads it to youtube. Leaderboard becomes clogged with glitchers and the devs probably wont filter them out. Solved it for you.

For Rivals, Criterion swapped out Black Box’s steering code and tire model for what was used in MW12, and ported DriftComponent from there as well. The main problem with the following games is that Ghost sucked at tuning the cars, so it never felt like you could ever lose grip unless you specifically tuned for a drift build or tapped the brakes. The grip balance in the tire params was all fucked up throughout the whole reboot trio, and they also broke DriftComponent in NFS15 which they’ve been trying to fix ever since by adding more shit inside of it instead of addressing what the problem was that broke it in the first place (the fake Scandinavian flick mechanic that sends your car into a massive drift if you barely tap back and forth when you’re not in the drift state). They toned it down after 2015, but they never outright removed it or even reverted DriftComponent back to how it was in MW12/Rivals.
Well if you want them to use these physics in NFS they can port their vehicle sim to Frostbite just like Black Box did and like Criterion did with certain parts of theirs. The engine isn’t gonna prevent them from writing vehicle physics. I’ve written vehicle sims in multiple engines and I’ve ported MW05’s vehicle sim nearly 1:1 to Unity, which is absolutely nothing like Black Box’s engine (Speed) from the early-mid 2000s. And that’s solely based on reverse engineering compiled code from the original game and then rewriting it in C#. So if I can do that without having any of the original source code, I’m sure paid professionals that have full access to the source are more than capable.
In terms of new-gen racing games, this in my opinion has the best RB sound you can find, now I wish EA will use this same sound for their next NFS title, and ill be satisfied
This was their chance to bring the series back to its roots, and for this game, they finally got it right, and every single vehicle handles in their own unique way finally, a very good thing. Sticking to the track like glue.
The problem with this approach is that the game ends up feeling sterile from a purely driving standpoint. Even with all assists off and AI on expert, if you just brake into the corner and floor it coming out, you’d invariably win because driving lines dont matter like they should in able to load up the correct side of the car for a corner. As for loss of traction, it feels very artificial and sudden because it’s like the physics engine just changed the rules suddenly. There’s no understeer, no frantic counter-steering that leads to it- you just suddenly find your tailend is going and it’s gone before you know it. It’s the same issue i have with their rally games. They neglect weight transfer and inertial so unless you’re on a full blown motion sim, there’s never any feedback from the car.
From watching the FIA-Gran Turismo championships, it's a tactic drivers use to distract someone before entering a corner in the hopes that it'll throw them off their rhythm.

Now imagine a game with freeroam open world that joins all Grid's tracks together with dynamic weather, NFS The Run cops, cotumization, and some crazy Japan midnight club storyline. I don't have anything against Legends tho the game looks fantastic
There's actual a reason for this haha, on hill climb races, the air becomes less and less dense the higher up you get, so normal wings and splitters become ineffective in the later parts of the race (or early if you start at the top). Having a massive wing and splitter compensates for this lack of air density by providing a bigger surface for the air to hit, keeping the car glued to the ground during the entirety of the race.
I hope Codemasters will consider making the replay modes even more cinematic via updates, that was the best part of the original grid as well as dirt 2 and 3.

I was just trying to see the visuals of this game, only to realize I’ve played this track on Grid 2 (2013) the fireworks, the bridges, the tunnels, the narrow turns part between the trees that makes you pucker your but a lil bit 😅 look amazing!! Miss the old camera angles for replay mode, made watching the replay feel like an initial d rouge battle lol
I appreciate the level of detail in cockpit interiors. I just don't think I can drive, or race, with the amount of anxiety it gives me. Have you ever tried racing with only using cockpit view? Do you think VR/TrackIR would help?
I used cockpit view and surprisingly I am better in it even though I don't like it. Turn off the damage system in game and do quick races to get better.
@@lindthelegend I use cockpit or bumper/hood cam when really going for time laps etc in games usually, because you can feel the car more, since the camera is attached directly to the car in these views
@@RobikV3 I agree. for the hood cam I remember months ago I tried beating NFS Carbon and the rule was to play only with Hood cam and pick Mercedes only. I rarely have an accident with close cam but with the Hood cam I had no accident and the turns were better.
Oh man, just imagine Cody making a GRID series but actually more simulation like how they made the DiRT: Rally Series which is the simulation version compared to the arcadey DiRT series.

I only play Assetto Corsa in VR. it's game changing, and because you're in a seated position in a car, there's zero motion sickness
