AC wouldn't be out of place but let's look at the facts not opinions, rFactor Pro and rFactor 2 (which share the same physics engine) are both used by real world racing teams, as tools to improve their teams race day performance. They should be at the top of this list. I would include iRacing as despite it's shortcomings, does provide the best ranked multiplayer service available today.

The intro cockpit looks most realistic. I really like that blur effect and the way cockpit shakes and moves instead of scenery. Because the scenery is where the real focus is. That's how our eyes really work. If everything is lasersharp and static, it doesn't look realistic.

Til this day no game can surpassed Assetto Corsa with CSP patch. Every game I see the headlights looks simple when they light up, just a white texture and the taillight just a simple red shine that took over the whole lens. Assetto corsa in other hand they have realistic fractions taillight lens what actually utilized light bulbs light bounce mimicking real life car lights
I was looking for that one comment on AC with mods. I found you. 100% agree... The shit is 10 years old and still looks AMAZING. If your rig can handle it, you can easily surpass the looks of most of these games. As for cars and tracks? Well, better have space on that hard drive people, I'm already at 200gb with over 100 tracks (not including layouts, including layouts its closer to 300), and almost 600 cars atm. And I haven't even downloaded the half of it. The game is on a whole new level due to the community that supported it. Heck, we even have the GTA V open world map in it with traffic. lol.

Trail Out is the successor of Flat Out. It makes Wreckfest look like a tea party. Just pure fun and all the objects in the road is interactable, unlike Wreckfest

This might be a weird question: but I’ve played a bit of Need For Speed Remastered and Gran Turismo 7 and I’ve noticed that you can zoom out a bit on your car but camera remains pretty close to the car. Drive club which has been delisted for a long time had more choices to zoom out more. GTA 5 isn’t a car racing game, but I love how you can zoom out all the way and the car is more out in front of you or zoom in if you’d like. Any good car racing games that can really zoom out more fully? I did see that you can really zoom out or in on project cars 3, which is cool!

I remember I was obsessed with RfActor 1 and F1 mod, the physics and control was extremely realistic, I was sweating doing lap over lap for hours on the same circuit for best laptime, squizing that 0.01 sec of my best, my backpain wasn't fun thought. It was with a logitech G25 , probably best game still untill now to feel how F1 really rides and realisme even with that entry Logitech G25 wheel it was incredible. Sadly we don't hear from Simbim again, GT Legends and GTR2 and Race (07) where such a blast, probably the first complete fun realistic simulators out their, still better physics and ride realisme then most games untill today.
Project cars 2 for me continues to be one of the simulators that to this day blows my mind, I still play it in VR mode and added to the times and climate changes it is a real experience, in second place I put Automobilista 2 and that is why you don't have what if you have PC2

Gran Turismo 7 in PSVR2 is a sight and experience to behold. Not even PCVR racing games can compete with it. Trust me I have them all and own a HP Reverb G2, Index and Quest 3.
GT7 still isn't a realistic racing simulator, no matter what you use to play it. It's certainly better than the arcade racers listed here, but realism isn't just about the graphics.

About 5x more money went into developing GT7 than any competitor and it shows. Sony themselves said it would be impossible to put it on PCVR. It would be impossible to optimize. Unless you're a real life race driver, laser scanned tracks aren't going to make a realistic racing/driving simulator. Most people never go to all the tacks in a game, if any, so simply have no idea of the accuracy. The layout and physical dimensions of the track are nothing without the detailed way individual surfaces are modelled and implemented. The relative grip levels and how different tyres and suspension interact with those surfaces are the important things, plus the rest of the physics engine in general. Done properly, a fantasy track can still seem realistic.
@@another3997 Lasser also scans bumps and elevations. If you want to have as close as possible to reality experience on Silverstone (for example) you need an accurate track. You can test yourself accuracy with two videos in parallel.

I have many these games you mention, but although most of these games are fun to play and drive the vehicles, a good percentage of them are not Realistic - more of them are Arcade-ish type games. I have s few of the NFS games and they are no way realistic - maybe fun - but not realistic. All my games are on my PC, I do not have a Playstation or any console devices. No game is going to be like driving in the real vehicle (watch videos from real drivers). I do my PC gaming as entertainment and to take my mind off of everyday issues. I do not take any of these games serious, they are games people. Have fun racing, Take care.
I am confused between ps5 and xbox series x, ps5's games are far better, the design is way cooler and I even prefer ps plus over xbox game pass. I will end up with a ps5 only I guess, but I want to play forza also😢
Almost every game on this list is an arcade racer. The only proper sims there are DiRt Rally 2 and Assetto Corsa Competizione. The rest are all gamepad controller racers.

it seems that games like Forza Horizon 5 are unrealistic because of the speed displayed by the speedometer which is twice the apparent speed and unrealistic speed when passing a sharp turn
