Thank you for this. Nice to hear from the real grassroots folk and hear how it's a positive case. Something I doubt we'll ever see on the TV anytime soon. This deserves to be broadcast on TV. Share far and wide, share far and wide! (also, I spotted the side of my face, proud to say I was there!)

never knew this...was this reported on...havent seen it in the news... Totally agree with this... I noticed it a while back and when I mentioned it to my parents one night while watching BBC news they also said they had noticed a bias too. So it wasn't just me imagining it.

How come no one is speaking Gaelic? The national heritage is encoded in the traditional language and dress.

VED from Victoria Institutions I don't know about why Gaelic isn't being spoken in Scotland, but I can tell you about when my Father grew up in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. In those days everyone spoke Gaelic. If they spoke Gaelic or read Gaelic in school they got the lash. Now everyone speaks English. I suppose it's a similar story for Scotland. :(

***** Your comment as well as of cmacpar's might hide a greater fact. In many Asian/African post colonial nations, in many English medium schools English is promoted, at times with some minor punishment, if the local vernaculars are spoken, in the midst of an English speaking crowd. What is hidden is the fact that the local vernacular have what might be known as 'feudal' content. This very word 'feudal' is different from the meaning it has in English.
Could Celtic languages have 'feudal', hierarchical, pejorative versus ennobling codes?
In some Asian nations, the school textbooks mention that English was imposed to facilitate slavery. However, the English knowing crowd knows the advantage English lends.
English has a difference. In case you are interested, Google Search for: What is different about English? [Chapter 1] Telegraph

Tears in my eyes... I didn't make the protest, because I came down to Southport to see a good friend. But put simply, no one down here gets it yet (probably due to the utter brainwashing of the media). I ended up talking to 2 BNP/UKIP supporters on Saturday night, who basically hated Polish people. Hopefully that was just terrible luck, but I have fear if it was not! On the whole, the general consensus from England seems to be of apathy and a couldn't care less attitude... or worse, the UKIP/BNP option... But what other alternative do English folk have left?
I have seriously decided that Scotland needs to and absolutely must show a way forward now.
It has become that important and the alternative is unthinkable.
    Ps. Ian... well said.

@@andrewpollock4599 Can you remember who you hated before Nicola Sturgeon ? I know it was probably Alex Salmond, it was not until we became a threat to the Union so precious to some folk because they read the McCrone report and scared the cash cow called Scotland wakes up and dumps Westminster. Could have been the promises of more powers more respect or at least honesty from Westminster and some fools fell for the "Daily Record VOW" and thought the vow would be kept. Our country could be blown apart because of Faslane but who cares if 60% of us Scots get caught in the initial blast and another 30% get caught in the radiation as long as England gets preserved. There is an excellent clip on you tube where a prof monitored the BBC and recorded everything, he sent them a copy of what he found and they contacted his boss to complain about him, maybe lose him his position and ignored the report. Talk about police state. I truly hope after this an investigation in the bias of the media/ news papers/ reporters chatter is called into question.

For one day (18th Sept 2014) you will hold in your hand a piece of paper that has a choice on it.
    That choice is your sovereignty!
What will you do with this sovereignty?
    Will you keep it?
Or will you give it away?.

I've watched a lot of debates on Scottish Independence over the last couple of weeks on TH-cam including the BBC debates (incl. QT). As an impartial observer I can't see this 'bias'. The Yes campaign sees bias but critically the open-minded undecided don't. This suggests to me that there's a certain 'victim' mentality going on. UKIP supporters have the same idea but I can't find evidence of that either. What I have noticed is Nigel Farage and Alex Salmond have used the same tactic on QT and elsewhere of complaining they're up against it and there's bias in the BBC and all media... Sowing the seeds for people watching to have a selective bias and grow existing personal biases as viewers. I have seen ALL campaigns and interviewees scrutinised.

    • @pennyvane8815
      @pennyvane8815 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I have also seen ALL campaigns and interviewees scrutinised. I've also been watching and listening to BBC's reporting for many years and noticed first pro-UK bias in world-news reporting, suppression of facts, toe-ing the government line, and a patronising attitude towards Scottish affairs.
Latterly I've been aware of all the negative aspects ably described by others in the video and elsewhere with regard to this referendum.
People like myself, who are experienced in debate and have even argued as 'devil's advocate', are aware of the kind of tactics you mention and notice them when they are used. They are used constantly by the BBC. It's becoming so obvious it's farcical.
You, sir, are having a laugh.
